Tips on using an amp lineout into focusrite? I find it hard to sync backing tracks, it seems that i'm having sync issues in the recording . Any tips on mastering a separate audio and guitar to amp to DI recording? Thanks!
Yoooo this is what I needed, you’ve inspired me to start doing what your doing!!! I’m just starting out using ableton and learning abt how to use my guitar to ableton and different FX, Keep up the good work!!!!
Thanks mate. You’re a Champion. I’ve been trying to get a decent guitar sound from the stock Ableton amps and effects for years and you just wiped the shit from my eyes! I’ll be putting this knowledge to good use. Much appreciated. Thanks again!
Hey man, love your music, I’m just wondering what your story is. Did you learn music production in college or did it start as a hobby? I’m 1 year into my computer science degree but the more I think back on the days of making music in my bedroom the more i want to quit uni and get back into it. It would be a dream to work on music full time
Hey Ray, it was always a hobby for me, I played guitar and dabbled in music production but it wasn’t until after Uni when I started this Mondo Loops project and next week I’ll be going full time with it - I studied mechanical engineering so nothing music related - honestly wish I started it at uni as it’s a great chance to work on music - gets tough doing it with a full time job! If you really want to get stuck in you could transfer to a sound engineering / music production degree but well doable to build it up whilst your at uni
Cheers dude love how ya separate the layers been using ableton for a bit but new to running my guitar through it have lag issues at the moment I’m playing with pain in the ass
Mundo! It wasn't structured as you said, but hey - this was your first tutorial and it was way better then decent :) When I saw this tutorial ~20minutes ago I felt like its christmas, you created it so fast it took probably 2 weeks, thank you for that! Guide was really informative and I learned to much.. and please consider of more tutorials, actually if you are making a beat not only melodic part, would be nice to see this aswell, don't need to show everything you are doing(tabs is good enough at the bottom). If you have a problem of typing notes/tabs pm me maybe I could help you out somehow :) Anyway, kind regards from another guitarist!
Appreciate the feedback man, will definitely work on the structure and also didnt expect it to be this long but pretty happy how it turned out! Hope some of it was helpful - for sure I'll work on more tutorials, I'm planning sort of a samples lofi beat for next week
@@MondoLoops Next week? Now these remaining days will slowly kill me from inside :D By the way, how do you find chord progressions? By ear or just simply google them?
@@juliusvai1521 will defo get more regular soon 😂 I've got a few different go to progressions I shift between but more recently watching neo soul/jass type piano videos for some ideas!

Heya dude - Really appreciate thevideo. I don't get a count in when I try to use the looper? I've got my settings exactly the same as yours but when I press record - it starts recording. For you it looks like you get a count in before it records? Looking online it says it's not possible but you're doing it haha.
Hey man, thanks for watching! I think this video should answer your question: ua-cam.com/video/POUyUejYhTw/v-deo.html - I'll have to double check on ableton but I think the steps were you need to add a count in from the metranome drop down, then arm the track and hit record with the looper record selected if that makes sense!
So you plug the guitar directly to the audio interface (skipping the guitar amp completely?) and then directly into the DAW? I know you basically said this but I have to make sure because I can't afford any of my equipment to break
Yes sir, record straight in to (at the time of making this) the scarlett solo 1st gen, can pick them up cheap 2nd hand. Then using amp simulation, which can also be free with the NI guitar rig
Hey Mondo, been a real fan of your music for some time, I'm also a budding guitarist and was wondering how do you deal with the latency when you record the guitar? I'm also recording direct but my latency is 34ms, messing up my timing whenever I record. Would appreciate if you can reply to this! Thanks for the amazing music!
Appreciate you checking out my stuff , much appreciated! What is your current interface? For me it's never been a huge issue unless I start throwing heavy VSTs on the chain, usually the first step would be drop the buffer size and if the recording freq is 48kHz maybe try 44, generally upgrading the interface can help , I've had minimal latency issues from focusrite and SSL but the king of low latency is the expensive universal audio interfaces. I also noticed a drop in latency going from PC to mac, may have just been from using the thunderbolt port
Mondo Loops Hey Mondo, thanks so much for the detailed reply! I’m currently steinberg UR242. I have no vsts running lol but my buffer size seems to be capped at 768 sample. Going any lower than that causes gitter and clipping.
Mondo! Whenever I use a metal pedal between Ableton and Scarlett solo, the recording audio on Ableton clips (red bars) even if the gain is turned down to zero on Scarlett. If I can normally hear my metal guitar on direct monitoring, then it's always clipping on Ableton :(. Any idea would be appreciated
Hey my bro, sorry for the late response! Did you ever sort the issue? Does your pedal not have a volume / gain on it? You could potentially add some form of EQ or gain reduction after the guitar chain - are you using an active pickup guitar? That can cause issues, have you tried switching the guitar input to Line level?
Hey, where is the static coming from? for me I don't tend to get much going DI, I know having a humbucker will help, with my bass I get a lot of noise but thankfully I can just cut the hi frequency which eliminates most of it
I've got the audio interface set up in ableton, but when I go to see if the software is picking up the audio, it doesn't show that it is. I don't know what to do.
Hey Javi, did you figure it out? If the preferences are showing the interface for both input and output audio, plus the interface is showing a level on the input, it could be that you need to arm a track in ableton, select the correct input channel if your interface has more than 1 and make sure you have audio in selected for monitor
Hey Mondo thanks for the video. My guitar has that white feedback noise when I have it plugged up to Ableton. Im using a 2i2 focusrite. Ive tried both my electrics, but theres always the noise. It happens on my amp but is it supposed to happen on Ableton ?
Hey man, there shouldn't be much noise when you are going direct - I would first try boosting the guitar volume to max and dropping the volume on the 2i2 down. Do you have a decent guitar cable? Could also be picking up feedback from a long/cheap cable
Amplitube did version 3 free for a while and 4 currently has a free version too which is great, also native instruments do a free version which is ok but I prefer amplitube
Ableton is a tricky one to get your head around, FL Studio / Logic X are a little easier initially but once he's comfortable with Ableton it is in my opinion the best DAW out there!
3 mins of drivel at the start ffs. you could cut the drivel at the beginning mate about recording with a mic, just say this if for recording direct. Also, don't need to know about your Audi device, just show us once its plugged in how to record....
*Excellent*
i couldn't listen to what you were saying at first because the nice backround tune got my full attention! Nice video!!!!

Awesome, thank you! Appreciate you taking the time to watch

Looper isn't receiving any sound at all! I'm extremely new and I have no idea how to fix it :( does anybody know?
How much better would my sound be if I upgraded my Behringer 302 USB mixer to the Scarlett one you're using?

Yeah balanced speaker cables can be a bit funny, probably that!

Yeah just need to ideally have a bass amp sim but it’ll work
