This just blows my mind - when you think of the insane level of touring Maiden have done pretty much non-stop over the past 40 years and the size of the venues they play, the biggest in the world, totally at the top of the pantheon of rock stars, and to see Adrian and Nicko enjoy it so much that they have side bands in small venues and cameo in each others songs. Its just beautiful man. I love Maiden and everyone in it, what a great band.
Both dudes are world class, love this playing, man that Jackson is on point
Bruce went from playing with Maiden in the biggest venues to small gigs with his own band. This is quite normal.

Nicko will probably be playing with his Iron Maiden "Tribute" band in December at the Rock N Roll Ribs Anniversary party.

I use it as a ringtone for years. Everytime i hear this song, i think someone's gonna call me.
I just love how these guys are genuinely friends. The whole Maiden band, really. You can see the chemistry on stage when it’s all 6 of them. No one is getting butthurt that Adrian is doing his own thing, and instead supporting him. They have the BEST job on the planet, playing music with friends.

Steve has his own thing too. It allows them to be more creative.
Having their side projects gives them that time away from each other so they can enjoy being with each other for those hundreds of shows on tour. It can't be easy at all so a bit of time away must help

All Adrian written songs in Maiden are great. His songs have the most soul and emotion, Bruce loves singing them as well. 🎶🥰😢💕🎸

@@tonypoore440 Not sure about that, Steve's material has great soul too, but Adrian's stuff is masterful, and notably "more punchy and concise", definitely more commercially successful.Usually, the most commercially successful individual songs are Smith, or Smith/Dickinson contributions. Notably, wasted years is officially their most commercially successful song, as its covered more than any other maiden song and by multiple different genres; it's often covered in ballad form.Let's face it, it's the most personally relatable song in the maiden catalogue, because you don't usually listen to maiden to relate, it's to feel epic, go crazy, feel nostalgic, or, just marvel at the simultaneous power and intricacy
Richie's wife, Julia, is having the time of her life, jumping and smiling! I would, too, if I were on stage with Nicko, Adrian and Richie! Iron Maiden, also, is really a family and as a fan for over 35 yrs, I do enjoy such gigs.

I've been an Iron Maiden fan since I was 11. And Adrian Smith is still one of my favorite guitarists. I even named my younger brother, who was born when I turned 16, Adrian. And I never tire of this song. No matter who plays it.

Adrian Smith is the man!! Always loved his vibe. Chill but handling business. He always had that punch and soul to his playing. I used to slide the balance on my stereo as a kid to his side on their live albums to hear all the nuances! 🎸
Plus, He has the one of the coolest “guitar stances” in rock!!!
"Balance" set to the right and "treble" set to maximum... I broke at least 4 tweeters on my hi-fi loudspeakers by listening to Maiden songs this way... 😂

We always love seeing him on his beast of a drum set which is the envy of all drummers

He owns a restaurant called Rock & Roll Ribs. Every year on the anniversary of its opening he throws a party in the parking lot. Local bands play all day with Nicko sitting in for a few tunes with each of them. So he plays on small kits with them. He does it for children's charities, and there's usually at least a thousand people there as the day goes on. He's got no ego, and tells funny stories as he walks around greeting everyone. Good times.
This was the song that got me into Iron Maiden when I was just a teen in the late 80s. Loved it then. Love it now.
"Stranger In a Strange Land" for me, then the whole album. Adrian's writing and tone made made that album.

That's why maiden are a cut above most metal bands. They were real well-rounded musicians who could write songs with mood and atmosphere instead of just riffs and heavy tones
Adrian was the finesseful one that gave Maiden its soul.

I love Wasted Years and Nicko too. He is granfather of the heavy metal and have very energy yet. Long live to the SK and to the dear grandpa Nicko Mcbrain! ;)
I love Adrian. He's such a cool, nice, humble guy. I had a beer with him in Toronto after a show he did with Bruce's solo band. I was blown away by his knowledge, love for music and just how down-to-Earth he is. As for his performance that night, combined with Bruce's killer vocals it was the best concert of my life.
I had the pleasure of meeting Ade Smith at the Southend Esplanade.

Adrian draws the soulful and emotional types to his music. He's always been my favorite in Maiden.
It's great to see Adrian doing his own thing and getting a little help from Nicko. That's what i love about Iron Maiden, they have a great chemistry that few bands have and they get along so well and support each other.

Been a favourite song of mine since SIT was released all those years ago. Love that Adrian co-wrote it and also sang on the B-Side of the single.

This is gonna come out wrong, coming from a 52 year old male former drummer, but I adore Nicko. As a fellow Christian, he is always so fun-loving, and never acts like the living legend that he is. He truly believes he is no better than anyone else. So, where I love for instance....Mario Duplantier, or Steve Harris. I can safely say I adore Nicko for being the beautiful human being he is.

Kotzen's wife, Julia does a helluva job covering Steve Harris' parts!! It's odd seeing Nicko because usually his kit has him all covered up.
It's a huge kit when he's with Maiden because of the parts for the different songs. I love his Maiden kit

Amazing. Maiden has been together for almost 5 decades, yes, almost 50 years . All the members are family. Seeing Nicko come out , even though they see each other all the time in maiden, it was still like greeting a friend and brother you haven't seen in awhile. Of course Nicko was his comical self! So cool!

Memories of 12 November 1986 in Jäähalli, Helsinki, Finland, first ever rock concert I went to on my own, age 13.
It's good to see a famous musician from a very famous band still enjoying playing in small places. And they make a great sound (fortunatelly a very different sound from Iron Maiden's).
I cant believe in 4 years time it will be 40 years since I saw this played live at the apollo manchester 1986 front row and what a night
I saw them on the Number of the Beast tour in 1982. 15 years old then, great memories.

If you've not heard it, Adrian's first solo album - Silver and Gold - is fantastic.
Its not an original title, Neil Young has an album from 2000 called Silver and Gold.

Nicko is an absolute legend.
He definitely is but he's not Maiden's best drummer. That accolade goes to Clive Burr
@@stuartsutton9350 It depends on your musical preference actually. I love Clive, he fitted perfectly to the early Iron Maiden sound, but he wouldn't have done what Nicko did in the 1980s. He was awesome when playing fast licks, better than Nicko, but when it comes to slower tempo rhythm sections, I prefer Nicko. The songs like "Where Eagles Dare", "2 Minutes to Midnight", "Rime of the Ancient Mariner", "Flight of Icarus", "The Trooper", "Powerslave", and the whole "Somewhere in Time" album would have sound much different. Nicko is a master of the slow tempo rhythms, I assume because of his jazz/funk background. Sometimes you appreciate a musician when he plays slower, and Nicko is one of those. If you prefer more of a "show-off"/"straight-in-your-face" type of drummer, then you will always choose Clive. Nicko is more laid back, in the background that blends in with the sound, who rarely step out of line; but also with better technical patterns, which in result, gives him more stamina - to play longer & more shows than Clive. It's not a surprise that Clive had problems during The Beast on the Road tour (one of the factors was his drumming style).
Clive could never have played the Nicko Maiden songs with one bass drum

I used to run home from school in the 80's to see this on mtv they had a metal hour from 3 - 4 pm
This is one of my 2 favorite Maiden songs, and they nailed it. Of course you expect Nicko and Adrian to nail it, but this quartet was all over it from top to bottom. Major props.
It actually the most covered song in the maiden catalogue, by artists from multiple genres, because it's so relatable
If you knew anything about guitar playing you would realise Adrian didn't nail it, he was out of time in places and messed up the end
