Yes it does cover up the hole if you center it. It is possible to put it slightly higher or lower and still access the spare tire hole. I didn’t worry about covering mine up because I put a lift on mine and I’m running 34” tires now so my spare is useless

I decided not to use the reverse light, but if you do just pull one of your taillights out and on the reverse light you’ll have 2 wires. The black will be ground and the other one will be power( the power wire could be any color depending on what vehicle you have and what year it is) just splice the reverse wire into the power wire. You don’t need to turn your drl lights on because as soon as you turn your key on it will send power to your trailer connector so it’s always powered with the key on. Thanks for the comment. I hope this helps?

Thanks for the question. I hardwired mine in the harness behind the bumper because #1) I didn’t want to see the wire coming around the bumper and into the plug (that looks sloppy in my opinion). #2). I tow a boat trailer and also flatbed trailers and I didn’t want to have to keep unplugging and plugging it back in constantly. Hope this helped?

I have an older Tundra but was just curious if the light strip covers up the hole you use to lower the spare tire.

Not sure if I missed it but thought you saif you had the back up light option? Also, any tip on how you kept the stip strait and level while installing?

I do have the backup light option, but I don’t use it because I installed led reverse lights and they make it look like daylight, definitely way brighter than that strip would be, as far as keeping it level I just eyeballed it and it looks perfect. Just remember you only get one shot at it.

My question is how do you access your spare tire since the led lights now covers the small access hole i ram mine at the top of the tail gate

In my case I have 35” tires on my tundra so that spare is useless to me. I’d say if you needed to get to the spare it could be raised up slightly allowing access to the spare tire mechanism.

Quick question? I received the same lights today. But how come I cant see the plug plugged in on your truck. I cant figure out that part.

Did you get the reverse light working as well? Did you ever have any issues with your trailer lights coming on inside your truck?

As cheap as this led strip was it is still working with no issues. I surely thought it would have died by now, but to answer your question I never hooked up the reverse light because I have led light bars on my roof rack if I need extra lighting. I don’t thing the reverse light on that light strip would be bright enough for anything, but I could be wrong. I’ve never seen any of my trailer lights come on or had any issues with dash lights. I’m always towing something regularly from my 32’ travel trailer to my moomba max wakeboat. To my double jet ski trailer all the way down to my 5x10 utility trailer and more and I’ve never had any issues. I tow 3-4 times per week and that truck handles everything I throw at it with ease. I’ve never seen any lights even when using my trailer brake controller. When it’s properly adjusted everything works accordingly and the light strip hasn’t caused me any issues. I know that was sort of a rant, but I hope it helped. Just fyi I hardwired mine into th trailer harness. I did not use the plug. If that helps?

I bought it from Amazon. It was an easy plug and play, but I decided to wire it into my harness behind the bumper for two reasons. 1) I didn’t want to see the plug and 2) I tow trailers regularly so I didn’t want to constantly be unplugging an plugging back in

Stay away from the cheap lights that you can get on Amazon fo $20 bucks. You can tell how poorly they're made by the gauge of the wire. Spend the little extra and remember you get what you pay for...
