My aunt had a 1978 Granada that she bought new. She drove that car forever, seems like. She finally sold it in the late 90s. Had the same hubcaps as this one. They were nice cars in their day. As a matter of fact, Ford made comparisons between the Granada and Mercedes sedans of the era and claimed it was their competition. Congratulations!!! 🙂🙂👍 Thanks for sharing!

I had a '75 Granada with in-line 6 and it had to have a new starter at 18K miles. Then various electrical problems began to surface. The larger plug on top of the ignition switch on the steering column had multiple wires crimped over insulation in the mating plug. Several wires had gotten hot and almost started a fire. The car had carburetor issues that the dealer did not solve and I got rid of the car at about 25K miles and never looked back. These cars were known for lots of intermittent problems, especially with electrical circuitry.

There was a bit of knowledge that probably everyone already knows except me; that is to say I never noticed that the wire strip/crimp tool has matching color coded dots to give you the optimum grip upon crimp.
I had a 76 Granada in the 80's it was very dependable until it was hot by a drunk driver. I repaired it and kept driving it but it had many problems after being hit.
Reminds me alot of my 76 Lincoln. And you'd be shocked. Sometimes cars are parked simply cuz a tire goes flat or something and they just completely forget about it. More than likely the person that owned that had another car at that time and just plain old forgot about that one. I mean......that one tire looks like it's been flat as long as that cars been sitting there. Ya never know. That's really similar to how I found my 75 Plymouth Fury. Couldn't find a dang thing wrong with it except it didn't run. Sat 21 years.......new battery, fresh fuel......started right up. Have absolutely no clue why she was parked that long. Just forgotten. Now she's my every day driver. And last time I've seen a car run without a carburetor was in my dream and it was attacking me like in the movie Christine 😄
My mother had a 76 with a 6 cyl engine 250 cid. it was a half decent car for the money she paid, ($4,500 new) drove it 8 years. Sure was not a quick car, no real passing power, but you could get it up to 85 mph if you kept it floored for a few minutes! She was with me once when I had it going 85 and she said, i didn't think this car could go that fast!
I was thrilled to hear it run! Without checking for water in the cylinders even. But it looked dry or least till that moisture ozzed out of the intake. But there had to be some in there anyway. Did you hear any major bad sounds come out of it? Like rods knocking or upper head problems. possible 112,000 miles on it. Back then a car was worn out around 100,000. Worn rings mostly. Interiors shot. You have to add it up as to whether its worth saving. It's not parked in a garage. Transmissions are not cheap either. Besides there a snake somewhere-lol.
Hey Bob. I heard no bad sounds, and no smoke. I might be a bit optimistic, but I think this car would be an easy one to get back on the road. So may projects, so little time!
I am beginning to get oldish my self, and visiting old sites i rememberd as a child, they are not longer recognicable. 30 years of trees and vegitation totaly changes them. And sometimes cars get grown in
A little less fuel would be helpful. I think you flooded it. But, anyway, the spacer you are referring to between the carb and the intake would be an EGR plate. There is no EGR in the intake, so Ford's solution was to make a plate that fit between the carb and intake that mounted the EGR valve. Love your revivals! Now go back and get that thing out and get it back on the road! Really hope you do, and certainly wish you luck in that task.
Fun fact about Granadas and their Mercury cousins. These platforms were the Genesis of what would become the Fox body. Yes, as in the likes of Mustang 5.0's, Mercury Bobcats, too (which lived as a Pinto/Pony once upon a time). This would also influence the "pre 5.0/LX" era, years earlier, Fairmonts, Futuras, and what few LTD's left to assemble. Quite an unusual genealogy, of course.
I used to work with two brothers at a Chemical Recycling station. They both had these cars and I always got a kick out of that. One night, the wife of one stopped by and she had a Fairmont. Haha. This was 30 years ago, or so.

That's crazy that it fired so soon. Those 302 engines are good engines.
Right, I was shocked. Very impressive.
i like this one . my parents had a silver 76 back in the day. eerie how isolated it is. great video. would love to know how it ended up there.
Thanks Edward! It was very creepy there.
Field Of Dreams Moment’ And You Are Welcome,Another Great Video;Great Automobile!Your Oregon Friend ☮️
I had a 76 Granada in the 80's it was very dependable until it was hot by a drunk driver. I repaired it and kept driving it but it had many problems after being hit.
Looking forward for the video to be continued on the road...Great job done...
Thanks!
You are the man. You are inspire me into doing Will it runs in different locations. So are you keeping it. You got money and time invested in it.
It will be very tough to get it out of where it is, but perhaps in the winter.
@@whattherust I see you be around the Tennessee area a lot I guess I am in Memphis
@@RpmAuto Yes, right in Nashville, but I get all around Tennessee and neighboring states.
@@whattherust I got to find you something so you can come my way 🤣 we could work together.
@@RpmAuto That sounds great. Just let me know. Same here too.
You crack me up. You get so excited and that a good thing. Your the best....Good Luck!
Thank you Jim. This type of stuff is pretty exciting for me.
Very cool video. Now to the carwash
Awesome! Very nice job. I have a fun time to.
Glad you liked it!
So may projects, so little time!
camera likes the sound of the exhaust lol
I am beginning to get oldish my self, and visiting old sites i rememberd as a child, they are not longer recognicable. 30 years of trees and vegitation totaly changes them. And sometimes cars get grown in
Nice job getting it running
Thanks!
Good content thanks
You are welcome. Thank you for supporting the channel.
That was one for the books. Great job!
Thanks. It was one of my favorites. It had such a small chance of success when I first saw it.
Disconnect thick wire from solonoid that runs down to starter & touch it to battery + starter will turn leaving other hand free for throttle.
Thanks for the support. You are right about the EGR plate. My F100 had one too,
Awesome!one thing I like about Ford engines is the distributor up front. That new carb looks like a rose amongst the thorns!😅
I love working on Fords for that reason. Buicks and Cadillacs too.
I really liked watching you get those old cars going I love those old cars and I love that 59 Ford truck that you have to
Thanks Jimmie. Glad you like the channel!
I'm old enough to remember when these cars were on the road! Had great air conditioners!
I remember when these were everywhere on the road.
I've been watching you for a while definitely deserve the subscription for you doing this one you guys are great I like it that you do it together now such a nice couple God bless you guys
Thank you for the support Joe. Much appreciated!
My uncle owned a 1977 Granada. His was also a V8 with PS, PB's and A/C.
I have a 1976 302 2 Door Granada red with a white top and only 42k. So this was very cool to watch.
Awesome! Glad you liked it.
Fun fact, my first car was a mint green 78 Monarch, which was the sister car to the Granada. The thing was a small tank. Had carb problems though. But it got me from A to B. 😊
another bang up job mate sounds ok content awesome cannot wait for next videogreat job keep them comming
Thanks Paul. The mic problems will be fixes for future videos.
great video. is there another video of y ou getting it out of the woods. driving it perhaps. i used to have a 79 granada straight 6 engine. great engine but had a lousy one barrel carburetor which is why i got rid of it at 33 k miles. i still remember. lol. it was midnight blue with gray interior. loved the color. this was a long time ago. got rid of it in 1982 when i bought the 82 s-10 pickup. god bless
It's Nice to see someone with enough brains to clean off electrical Connect tbd,k0 ions instead of just running it
Excellent video Parque :) my one Cousin Terry he had bought 1980 Ford Granda car 4 door in same colors body also interior with (Big Six 250 6 cylinder motor 2 barrel carb with 4 speed Automatic transmission with Overdrive, not sure rear end ratio was of hand ! In 1995 put a 1978 Ford pick up truck 302 V8 motor 4 barrel carb with daul exhaust hook to same transmission, also drive shaft plus axle! He had car till 2000 to and in 1993 got him take me home from job at and car was comfortable ride to I say ! You give me a vibe of being a really nice person
Thanks Christopher. I appreciate the support.
That's so nice! Congrats, Mr.! 👏👏👏👏
Thanks! This Granada wants to see the road again.
