    -------------------------------
Tourette's syndrome is a neurological condition and disability which causes involuntary movements called tics. I use my platforms on social media such as TikTok, UA-cam and Instagram to advocate and raise awareness for the condition and show what it is like living with a disability as a teen in school.
My name is Zara Beth (zeezee25 on tiktok) and I post videos about tics, tic disorders and what its like to be a teen living with Tourette's syndrome, Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) and a seizure disorder (NEAD/NES).
I show what its like having tics and Tourettes in class and in school and college, vlog, and I also bake, do other challenges and answer all your questions in Q and A videos.
I am also an ambulatory wheelchair user so I show what life looks like using various mobility aids and how needs change from day to day!
I am also a musician! My newest release is my first single (original song) called "She's Mine" which is now available on all streaming services - I sing and play piano, guitar, ukulele and I write, produce, mix and master all my own songs and content myself!

@@adinabiton8214 I wouldn't think that aspect of tourettes (the tics), would be what would make one feel like someone with tourettes was unapproachable. In some cases of tourettes one may be prone to having outbursts of profanity, which people may take offense to, especially if they are unaware of their condition. The outbursts of profanity may be misconstrued as aggressive behavior.

Omg, literally! I have one vocal tic and the rest are physical and anytime I see a person with tourettes or somebody doing a tic I have; it can send me into a fit.
It's really crazy too how people can be so uneducated on tourettes. When I was younger my dad would constantly yell at me for my tics, and call them "habits".
When I was first researching tourettes in middle school; my best friend at the time wouldn't even acknowledge that I have it. Simply because she only viewed it as having vocal tics.

I went to a neurologist to help because dentist were not able to unlock it and my mom believed I didn't need surgery. I was given a retainer with added material to keep my teeth a bit more open to allow my jaw to settle properly. I was also shown some strengthening stretches. However, my tmj is likely due to hypermobility. Some people receive botox injections with much relief.

In my sisters case she can stop them/suppress them for a period of time, but after suppressing them for long enough she can’t control them anymore and they kinda go crazy, but from what I know in Zara’s case here she has no control over them at all!
So the takeaway here is that Tourette’s Varys from person to person and you should never make fun of someone who has it cause (in most cases) the person has absolutely no control over it whatsoever (I’m not saying you are, cause u just asked a question this is just for anyone else who is reading this)

I once had a guest at an establishment i worked at who, inadvertently called me "bitch" while i was collecting menus, and i thought id done something wrong, but no, it was a tick. She was so embarrassed. I was like, oh, no, i understand. I dont think folks who say "if they had tourettes" really understand how embarrassing it can be. And, i definitely feel for those who have it
She had many ticks during the evening, unfortunately, but was never rude to the staff. She unfortunately had some verbal ticks, which interrupted her dinner

i had a friend with tourettes, and she was really nice. for her, her face twitched a lot, especially her eyes, so teachers always thought she was rolling her eyes at them. then she swapped schools. i miss her.

I had a friend who had tourette's and she would lunge forward and stuff and said it hurt badly. It apparently came from a horrible anxiety disorder her mom had aswell. One time she told me a that she was drawing or writing with a pencil and lunged forward uncontrollably and it poked her in the eye. Tics arent fun from my knowledge, and im pretty sure i have a minor case of tourette's because sometimes ill get a wierd feeling up my neck and a sudden uncontrollable urge that makes my head move and it sometimes feels better if i like hit the back of my neck. I also had this weird moment were i was stuck in a loop of inhaling/snorting(idk???) or smth like that and i had to be called out of it (but that coulda just been me being wierd idk not trying to self diagnose just sharing experience)

It doesn't work that way, tics are random and most often not what you're thinking. You don't really trigger certain tics by thinking of them, just that sometimes there can be things that trigger certain tics. Idk about anyone else, but I've never had a tic that unstuck me when I've gotten stuck like that haha

If I was your friend and sitting next to you in that situation, hearing that be said, that girl would have gotten a very unpleasant confrontation from me whether in a dead silent classroom/work environment or after the class was over. I understand that Tourettes can be a struggle, and I commend you for having more self control than I would have had in that situation. ❤ With all that said I love your videos and you sharing your experiences!
