Charley Burley was the first fighter featured in my book Forgotten Legends of the Ring (available from my site in the link above)
Burley was arguably the greatest of the feared Black Murderers Row fighters and was heavily avoided, often having to face bigger opponents(as is the case here) just to get fights and stay active.
Considered a master of the feint and counter punching, we see here some of the methods he used to set up his counter punching - using the touch jab and feint as bait to lure opponents in to his counter attacks.

Archie Moore once said Charley Burley could feint you out with any part of his body. Head,arms,legs even his eyes. The legend fought a heavyweight who name was J.D Turner who was 6ft3 weighing 213lbs when Burley fought Turner,Burley busted him up with ease. Burley was ducked from welterweight-heavyweight.

Yep Burley was great with the feint and gave Moore a boxing lesson by all accounts. If there was clearer footage of Burley or more footage I'd try and find his eye feint too 😄

@@FayzBoxing Moore said Burley dropped him 2 or 3 times and carried him for the entire match. And Burley didn't even train for the bout he just heard Moore needed a replacement and road a train to the city. The night before the fight Burley was drinking and playing cards. But there's actual Lloyd Marshall footage that popped up against Freddie Mills and in good condition. You do a breakdown on that particular fight.

I came back to this to say i noticed something in the fight against Billy .Charley Burley sets up a clever trap by throwing the lead hand counter to the belly and liver and then in Round 5 it was he was throwing a BOMB of an uppercut to the head . Underrated talent this guy . Made oakland billy lower the guard by punching the body to snipe the head
