I've already done a video on this fight between Roberto Duran and Iran Barkley( titled over the top • Roberto Duran vs Iran... ) which shows how Duran constantly went over the top of the Barkleys jab as he was bringing it back low.
With all the fights recently where the jab was key, Dubois and Yarde having no answer to the jab and Spence Jr excellent use of the jab to defeat Garcia, I thought I would find a few fights where a smaller fighter handled the jab of a bigger opponent and see how they countered the jab.

Yeah when Floyd was on ESPN a few years back he gave his top 5 or top 10 ever he put himself at no 1 😅 But he had Duran second. The way Duran was using the jab to the body to disrupt Barkleys rhythm coming forward is something you see Floyd do all the time against bigger guys. You can see how much Floyd has learned from watching Duran

High risk countering the jab with an outside slip to cross, but this is Duran we’re talking about
Every counter comes with a risk...its no more risky than slipping to the inside and countering with the left hook which Duran also did as both put you at risk of getting hit by the right hand. Fighters pick up on patterns, if you've got someone infront of you throwing single jabs then you've got a better chance of landing the slip counter. You'll often see fighters using the slip counter either with the head off centre line to avoid any right hand or slip with a half step to take them off the centre line incase a right hand does come.

When I watch duran videos it makes me angry when people refer to Durán as a casino brawler.
Why didn't the footage show Duran's right hand counter at the end of the first round, that almost KO'd Barkley? He recovered and they both put up Ring Magazine Fight of the year.
He keeps leading with that head, though.
