love watching you guys
I use my third row for burning more fossil fuel so the children of today won't have a future.
I hear the 3rd row is for when the in laws visit. or just when you have visitors a few times a year/month
That small grill you made looks good, make it a bit wider and you have a nice looking car. But noooo , they had to make it look ridiculous.
GLS63 gonna be a beast but X7 M50I and Lincoln black label are quality contenders
My three kids now call their shades “peasant blockers” 😂. Oh, and my 10 yr old now asks me about driving dynamics.
Amazing
Now THAT is proper education.
Hahaha I’m gonna raise my kids like this.😂😂😂
I had one as a dealer loaner for 3 days this summer, my, then, 10 year old got teary eyed when I got my car back. Now she keeps bugging us to trade the volvo xc90 for a x7.
A minute in and I’m already impressed with the editing (effects on the grill was crazy lol)
My girlfriend wants to have sex with Yuri
@@nopers2223322 would that be part of the review? Interior versatility ?
@@dvanremortel it ought to be.
Well Yuri, you may have to put adult content rating on the next review.
Yeah that was some smooth editing
Only true fans knew they couldn’t just leave us without a visor, cup holder and box test.
Mudiwa Chirume oh shit they did!
Great review! We just ordered an X7 x40i with the M sport package, and let me explain why we choose large SUVs over minivans. We are a family of five, and to get it out of the way, my wife and I fully agree that minivans are more spacious, have more cargo space, and are easier to get in and out of (especially for our kids). BUT, we have gone with full-sized 3-row SUVs because of the following reasons:
1. My wife prefers the higher seating position.
2. We live in Utah and have the fairly regular need for snow clearance, all-wheel drive, and the ability to drive up steep, snowy roads. As far as I know, the Toyota Sienna is the only minivan to have an AWD option, but it certainly doesn't have the ground clearance of an SUV.
3. The poshness and interior quality of up-scale, full-size SUVs cannot currently be found in the minivan market.
4. Along those lines, many of the more advanced tech features found in luxury SUVs are not as refined (or can be had at all) in the current minivan market.
We regularly seat on kid in the third row, but ordered the second row as a bench to maximize seating and to be able to haul more cargo in a pinch.
How has reliability been for you, any problems for u over the years?
@@lighter4343 It had its share of electronic gremlins during its three year lease but no mechanical issues. For what it's worth, we liked it enough to get into the 2023 refresh when the lease was up.
@@dj1809Would you be willing to share more detail on the electrical issues?!
@@GianniTsunami The main driver display that includes the speedometer would black out completely during a drive. We took it into a dealership service center and they could never find out what was wrong. That being said, our 2023 has the same issue though it doesn't happen quite as often. The middle seat would oftentimes get stuck in the open position after being moved to access the third row. Again, this was an issue that at times resolve itself but several times required a trip to the dealership. We have also found wireless Apple CarPlay to be finicky in both the first gen and current gen X7s... this is more of an annoyance than a major issue.
@@dj1809 Chris - appreciate the info; thanks for taking the time to respond!
Seriously, hands down the BEST car reviews on UA-cam.
I sell cars for a living and from my experience hardly anyone actually uses a third row in a SUV for people. Normally I see families that have one or two kids in third row SUVs. A lot of times it's one tiny woman in a gigantic Suburban because "it's safer".
Josef Suhonen 😂😂😂😂😂 tiny woman in a gigantic suburban bcuz it’s safer MY MOTHER
ahahahaha. Women love those SUVs.
Well, she is right that it can be safer. Mass usually wins.
And it’s just ballin’ to drive massive.
it's not that you have enough kids to fill all rows, it's when they bring their friends.
Safer until your driving over 40 mph and need to make a sharp turn to avoid a car. Except for BMW in my experience, some how they just manage it.
This comment is now the official petition to have Straight Pipes Hawaiian shirts made.
I think I'm addicted to your reviews. Keep up the great F**ing work.
You can't beat the Pacifica when it comes to practicality.
indeed
puts all these other 3 row CUVs to shame
I love the TheStraightPipes, the best channel to find cars for dictators.
I actually love the design of the X7 and the new X5, my issue is with the new 7 Series, I do not think the big grille fits it well, not nearly as elegant as the S Class.
0:26 first photos of the 2022 X7 facelift leaked
Is it me or does the grill make this car look like a old man with those puffy mustaches and that only wears cowboy hats
George Hewens it’s just you
😂
@@gsjourney3054 now I can't unsee it!!!
not gonna lie, I actually dig it going the whole way. Im not a fan of huge grills but it doesn't look that bad
As a kid I love 3rd row. Although we are three kids in a family. It's so luxurious when you are thinking "where would I want to sit today". And 3rd row just feels gangster. Also we are traveling quite often and it's perfect.
@RpM_Evan It does ... at least in black BMW with tinted windows.😀
Those grill edits were superb.
You may have given BMW some ideas. Let’s see how crazy grills can become.
Hyundai already started it with their 2020 Sonata headlights lol
Can’t believe that I just heard someone say that an X6 is a good looking car at 4:52
I know, lost some respect

I live in Buffalo and every time I visit Toronto and see an awesome car on QEW, I always hope it’s one of you guys driving it!
Great review guys, I live next to a BMW dealership in Michigan and i see these everyday, and for those that haven't seen these in person I say reserve judgment, these things look amazing.
I love the look of thicc SUVs with edges. It's nice to see BMW not doing something so round and pseudo-sporty on a car of this caliber
Btw, first grill the one extended to the bottom is dope, It looks brilliant. You’re really an underrated editor
You guys go from strength to strength; in-depth with brilliant graphics. Great work.
We use the third row in our 2018 expedition for people sometimes but other times for cargo. With 5 people in our family, we need a big SUV even though we used to have a 2005 Toyota sienna. My mom just didnt like the minivans anymore but does say that it is more functional than an suv
so why not just stick with the sienna lol
id gladly ditch an explorer for one (unless i lived in rough terrain or needed to tow)
LOL!!! I was about to ask for the box test, visor test and cup holder test 😂😂😂
My wife and I need the 3rd row for Grandchildren. The extra space is great when travelling - we tend to go away on driving tours for a few weeks at a time - so the big luggage space is great
Big props for the 500K subscribers. I was one of the early ones. Cheers from Montreal.
We had a GMC Envoy when I was a kid. We used it as a 3 row for carrying kids. It worked really well and was a lot cooler than our Ford Windstar minivan that my dad owned previously.
I love how unbiased you guys are!
Hey guys I have two cars I have a Dodge Challenger SRT 2015 and a 2001 Acura MDX which is still smooth as butter. I actually do use the third row when we take road trips as I am married with one kid but I often bring the rest of the family with me the third row albeit small is still viable for road trips and my passengers have no complaints. I literally only use the MDX for three things : groceries , snow , family hauling. When it’s just me or my wife and me , challenger all day .
FINALLY FINALLY FINALLY YESSSSSSSS I LOVE YOU GUYS FINALLY THE X7
Thank you to whoever is doing the hard work of the visual edits to show us the different wheel/grill looks on the car your channel is reviewing. Please keep up the good work.
You forgot the Volvo XC90, which I think is the best looking.
Great review as always.
Love your videos
499,259 subscribers! So very close to a HUGE milestone! You guys deserve it! Congrats on the growth and success of your channel!!!!
Thanks!
Hey Dudes-
Love the edited caricature grilles. Ranks up there with the edit on Volvo Thor’s hammer headlights.
For us, the third row is pure function. With us, dogs are family - so they wear Sleepypod (professionally and thoroughly crash tested) doggy seat belts, which work in conjunction with a human seat/seatbelt. With a family along the lines of two parents, two kids, and two dogs, the typical five-seat vehicle just doesn’t cut it.
As far as SUV vs van; we are an active family that love the outdoors. So, we’ll consider a van when yous can show us one with the payload and towing capacity, ground clearance, and traction management of an SUV.
Bonus reason for an SUV over a van: Volvo doesn’t make vans. (Ok, there’s a little subjectivity in there)
Cheers
Brian
i hit the bell just cause of how chill your ask for it, i appreciate y'all
Thanks bro
My family has a Honda Pilot and we truly use the 3rd row.
My family (in Australia) have a Volvo XC90 with 3 kids and 2 adults. My parents like it cos we can bring 2 more people, and we do use the 3rd row around about once a week.
Of the competitors to the X7, I probably like the Navigator interior and the XC90 exterior the best.
zalewskm If I need a 7 seater suv, I agree the xc90 would be the nicest. If I just needed a large suv, the new cayenne is banging up my alley.
content keeps on getting better and better! you guys deserve WAYY MORE CREDIT AS JOURNALISTS!
Excellent review as usual guys, from the UK
As a french Canadian 99%fluent in English, the hardest part to me right now is when speaking, figuring out the "correct" way of saying some words like decal, and seeing you guys argue about it makes me feel much better hahaha :)
The front grille on the x7 is better than the x5. It looks to me like the Punisher logo 💀
Kidneys replaced by nostrills! Not a fan
Nah, it's fyn but x5 is better looking
DaHeMpEr x5 front end looks like a 🐷 pig’s face
@@eyeyron5007 no the 4 series grille makes it look like a pig face
Guys i am very much impressed by literally ALL of your videos. Especially this one. I really enjoy the long camera angles from the sides... from there you can see the X7 beautifully. Subbed right away :)
Loving the continued success of the channel! The effects and camera work you guys have always done really makes the videos sharp. Love the reviews and keep them coming!
I mean, just purchased a 2019 VW Altas and we use the 3rd row quite often. Its definitely a family hauler, and I'm all here for it. It comes in handy when going on long road trips.
Great to hear it gets used
Seen this a few times in person already. It looks better than the pictures.
I have 3 kids and own a 3-row 2016 GMC Acadia - we use the 3rd row all the time... transporting children and adults in all 3 rows. (also - it's DEE-CAL and LE-VUHR)
Better than quirks and features.
😂😂 😂😂
Man you guys editing is getting better and better!
Really loving the Alpina wheel look, O and your graphics are getting really high end. Cool.
500k subs , very soon my dear , wish you the best, you got this cheery reviews..
Thanks
I promise I am very subscribed.
Mike Morris Not the father?
But did you click on the notification bell?
I once owned a Minivan and the 3rd row was mainly used as a parcel & groceries shelf.
I currently own a vw atlas with 3 babies, extra adults always go in the third row and have plenty of space. I avoided minivans like the plague. If I was rich, I’d totally at least test drive this.
I actually use the 3rd Row for People, it does come Handy.
We use the 3rd row in our Pilot for people on the odd occasion. When each kid has a friend. They are too young to sit in the front seat so it is the only way to take both kids and an friend each.
The X7 really needs a shadow line package option.
You can specify shadow trim on essentially EVERY BMW except frozen paint colors... It's a no-cost option on M-Sport trims.
So I am 21, I have 0 kids, and I own an '07 MDX with 3 rows. I intentionally looked for one because I actually prefer the size of the SUV, and I couldn't afford BMW maintenance, otherwise, I would be driving a used X5 or an X7 if I had the money.
Anyways, I can say that I do carry around friends often enough, but I don't find myself using the third row ever
Nice shirt, Yuri!
Yuri, that shirt... Forever 21? Respect for wearing it.

You guys have quickly become my favourite review channel! Such thorough reviews, and U actually cover things that the everyday buyer wants to know! Keep up the good work. Cheers from Australia 🇦🇺 🍻👍
Cheers mate!
I would love a Land Rover Discovery review! My wife just decided to buy one and I'd love your impressions! We considered an X7 as well.
I have a X5 with third row seating. We use it more for storage and running errands. But every blue moon, we will have another couple with us (totaling 6 or 7) and will take one suv to dinner.
Impressive editing
I recently bought a Chevy Suburban and we use ours for my kids (15 yr old, 11 yr old & 1 yr old) when I’m transporting my sons friends it’s really helpful...you guys should review the suburban tho!!
The Alpina wheels look awesome on there! I've seen a few of these in person and the grille is OK, but I think the ratio of grille to headlight is still a bit strange.
Alpina BX7 confirmed? Haha
I like the cinematography through our your videos as the detailed reviews .
3-Rows of agony in maintenance horrors. In 40,000 miles, it'll need new valve-stem seals which will cost $3,000-4,000 in labor without parts. The technicians will form a nice bond with this X7, almost better than the owner who will look at pictures of his beloved X7, missing it, during the long vacations at the Service Department. Basically, this is trash on wheels.
@@HotCacahuete - Yes, mr rich youtuber.
When I was younger I had a driver, he drove Mitsubishi Pajero Sports and the 3rd row came in handy when transporting more friends.
Also third rows never work nothing compares to the Pacifica. Every suv third row I have gotten has been useless.
@@pkdude5334 Odyssey 3rd row still better than the pilot imo
ingress/egress way better on the Odyssey and theres more legroom for the 3rd row
My coworker and Uncle both drive an Escalade. Neither of them have a wife or kids, so they just have them because they wanted something big. It's a very American thing. The bigger, the more impressive it looks.
Great review as always. They should make a plug-in EV version of this.
We have a QX80. We mostly use the third row for cargo and dogs. We have 4 year old twins and three dogs, so we actually need the space. Once in a while we will need the 3rd row for people.
Hockey Sticks on the side and 401 Badge on the rear.... This was built for Toronto !! ;-)-
I think for a family, this is the one to get. It looks so good. I think the big grille suits it. Love it
Hey im early again! Love the reviews and the channel keep it up!
Edits on point
I think that this is quite unattractive. The big grill is not really the problem, but it’s the proportions of the grill relative to the headlights. And also the shape is weird.
True. People hated on Lexus because of the big grills, but at least the grill didn't go higher than the headlights. To me, if the headlights were a little taller and the grill was just placed a bit lower, the size of it would be perfectly fine.
awesome editing !
Damn Yuri!!! That's a nice shirt 😁 and the X7 it's gorgeous!!! Nice combination!!
Got a minivan for the wife.. but we needed another third row and I'm not a minivan daily driver type guy... And I got a Durango R/T and love it. We mainly use third row in the van for the kiddos but I use it folded down in the durango for transporting stuff, then for the kiddos when necessary.
I am the only weird one who like the Grille taking up the whole front 🤣🤣😅😅
Yes.
To give some data to Yuri, I drive an M340i 15 miles to work in stop-and-go traffic everyday and I have the Traffic Jam Assistant feature. About 80% of that commute is on a highway under 40 MPH, and I use that feature constantly. I normally take it off when there are merging lanes (it doesn't see cars coming into your lane super well) and when I have a chance to gun it (because that engine is sweet). Now that I have a taste of that tech, I don't think I could get another car without it. It takes the edge off of the constant, repetitive motions of that kind of traffic (micro-corrections on the steering wheel, shifting your foot from gas to pedal) and helps assuage stress.
The grille keeps getting bigger and bigger
using a wider angle lens in the intro was a nice touch to accentuate the size of that grill
;-) thanks for noticing
Family rn is deciding between this one and Gls. Q7 is disappointing, low key convincing her to go for the Q8 though😂
@@MrTeetec fuck off

@@MrTeetec HAHAHAHAHA nah
To answer the 3-row question. It’s for space reasons. My family has a long history of of 3 row, full size SUVs. We had a 2008 Chevrolet Suburban LT. When it killed itself (as GM products do) we moved to a GL450 (first gen, when it still had a V8). Then we had a series of Gl-Class Mercedes-es. We now have a Ford Expedition Platinum Standard Wheelbase (basically a non-navigator navigator). We honestly don’t use 3rd row very often. The seats are folded away almost always. The only time we put them up is to keep groceries in place between the seats and the lift gate, or if someone is actually sitting in them. We mainly like our full-size, 3-row SUVs because it gives extra room. We’re a family of 4 with two retrievers. Side note- captains chairs are a terrible choice for people with dogs. Even though technically we don’t NEED a third/middle seat, it helps to keep cargo and dogs in the back. We are able to pack 3-4 suitcases and our 2 dogs and various other equipment with us with the extra space the third row gives us. THAT BEING SAID: this only works for a certain class of SUV. It HAS to be a full-size. Any midsize, even with three rows, wouldn’t work. And the seats must fold flat, so a vehicle like the Land Cruiser of Lexus LX570 wouldn’t work, because the seats fold UP, not AWAY. And they also have to be square-ish. So none of these “coupe” SUVs work because it severely decreases room for the dogs. So that means SUVs like Audi Q7 and Porsche Cayenne are out, even if Cayenne DID have a 3rd row. This is kinda the reason why Land Rover has gotten away with not adding a 3rd row to the Range Rover. Even though it competes with full-size crossovers like the Q7, Porsche Cayenne, Mercedes-Benz GLS, and BMW X7 (and I guess Infiniti QX70), as well as body-on-frame SUVs like the Toyota Land Cruiser, LX570, Nissan Armada and it’s Infiniti equivalent, Ford Expedition and Navigator, Chevy Tahoe and Suburban, GMC Yukon and Yukon LWB and Escalade, most people don’t need a 3rd row and just want extra cargo space.
Sorry for the long answer, I just wanted to provide a nice look into a buyer of this segment.
I don't care about LEE-ver or LEH-ver, but it's DEE-cal. Don't ever say DEH-kull. Just don't.
We only use the third row on our Yukon XL for airport runs. It a rare occasion, but invaluable when we need it. The rest of the time it’s basically a van
I think the proportions are better on this than the X5.
Well we use the third row often for people. We have 3 boys and their friends. We have family who visit often and it’s easier for all to use the three rows (CX9)
Up front my God the BMW X7 is massive
Great review guys! You always seem to highlight the right amount of vehicle content.
StraightPipes Hawaiian shirt. Count me in for 1 in every color!
We got the Ford Expedition for the people option. My wife's sister lives nearby so commonly have 8 of us going places together and nothing beat the comfort and room. So giant size for people.
Personally, hate the grill.
edit: 7:29 That would definitely help.
I use the 3rd roll all the time in the Nissan X trail - not even as big 3rd roll seats as they are in other 3 roll SUV’s. Mainly for kids. When we are with friends with kids on a vacation, all the kids wants to ride in one car to the beach for example, or if we are going to a restaurant etc. Even when we go for a day trip. The kids want to be in one car so I put 4 kids in the car and go.
I have an MDX and no one has ever nor will ever sit in the third row. I mainly got this for the cargo room. I can put my goalie bag and pads in the back without dropping the second roll of seats and that was a bonus for me.
0:29 jesus what even is that lmao
as usual, great review from these legends

You know, when seeing the X7 next to the Cullinan, it just confirms my opinion that the Cullinan is God damn ugly compared to this
