Happy Friday everyone! We were actually a lot more impressed with the new BMW X7 more than we anticipated. This is truly a rival to the equally pricey Lincoln Navigator and way above the league for the current Cadillac Escalade and Mercedes-Benz GLS. That being said, we will be driving and reviewing the all-new 2020 GLS next month. Until then, let us know your thoughts about the new X7 below!
chrisak49 it is a subscription: www.caranddriver.com/news/a15530125/bmw-to-treat-apple-carplay-as-a-subscription-service-and-charge-customers-an-annual-fee/ However, $80 for a yearly service will be nothing for someone who can afford this car.
Juan Poemape yeah but still it’s fucking dumb, makes me want to sell my 3 series right now. It doesn’t cost bmw anything once it’s in the car so why are you charging people $80 a month for someone thing standard in a Elantra
I’m blown away how BMW has stepped up their luxury game. Their last gen products I thought were already tough to beat. Now the 2019 M340 and this thing are taking it to the next level.
Just bought a 2019 BMW X7 50i (V8) Executive (45K miles for $61K [$106K new] from a BMW dealer in VA) with 22" wheels and every possible option except for second row bucket seats. We looked at Mercedes GLS, Cadillac, Navigator, Acura and every potential vehicle in its size/class. Our previous family vehicle was a 2018 Chevy Traverse High Country ($50K) that we bought new. The BMW is obviously an incredible upgrade, but was the best choice hands down of the bunch in 2023 (as was the Traverse in 2018 in its class). Bought pricey extended BMW warranty, but what the heck as it's covered now for 5 more years or 55K more miles. Was a leased car, but after detailing turned out quite nice. Looking forward to some good times...
Fantastic review Sofyan! Loved it! Local BMW dealer doesn't have any X-7s on the floor to see because they get sold on day of delivery... they are selling fast!!! Keep up the great work!
The comments are ridiculous. If you can afford a 120K for a automobile then depreciation and reliability isn’t a concern. Go enjoy the Highlander reviews!!
HR-Vex Just remember that the cost of maintenance does not depreciate. I have seen many people buy luxury cars in the used market after depreciation has taken its effect only to then spend outrageous sums in maintenance. If I couldn’t afford it new or wasn’t willing to spend this much money on a ride, I would look at a top trim Telluride or upcoming Palissade.
Ridiculous, right!?!? Classic BMW move!!!! Over engineered. That fob is huge and... unnecessary. Tesla near field communication smartphone entry is the state of the art. A six figure car shouldn't even require a key fob!
@@charleshein4477 for both my model x and bmw I have key fobs. They work exactly the same. I do enjoy the over engineering of the Tesla where the driver door automatically opens while i approach it with the key fob in pocket.
Great review on the X7! I noticed that you stated the LED panoramic roof came from Mercedes. Unfortunately that isn’t true, because Mercedes has never offered an LED panoramic sunroof. Instead this idea came from the Rolls Royce’s starlight headliner. Also, the sensor you pressed first on the door handle is used for smartphone entry to the vehicle.
Wow what a beauty!! Finally a company that really shows the LED and headlights according to the year that we live, 2019!!! Please pay attention automakers, incandescent light bulbs are ugly and obsolete for many years!!
I was all for the X7 until I heard you’ve gotta pay for Apple CarPlay monthly subscription. No thanks, especially when basic cars worth 10% of this have it standard😂 EDIT: nvm, carplay’s free now lol
Samuel Serrano when I bought my ‘18 bmw I saw on my options that apple CarPlay was a $300 option. BUT! Bmw does wireless Apple CarPlay and were the very first to do it. Still not worth $300 but it’s a nice feature to be wireless. I personally HATE CarPlay because it limits my other features. In my HUD I can’t see all the upcoming music and instead get the name of the current song and a forward and backwards option. And when using the CarPlay nav I can’t see my nav directions in the HUD at all. And if your phone loses service on a trip you’re SOL if you miss a turn because it won’t load anything new. But also BMW nav manages to add an extra hour on arrival time when I take even a 5 hour drive 😂. So they both have their pros and cons.
I'd like to know how does a monthly subscription work??? I mean all other cars have it installed permanently. Or is it just a contract BMW makes you sign saying you'll pay them a monthly fee? I guess if you stop paying they either sue you or come rip your radio out of your bimmer?
kaox44 deleted This one BMW X7. Or a Kia Telluride SX and a Porsche Boxster? The Kia still has features the X7 doesn’t, arguably a more handsome design and will spend less time in the shop. And BMW is so thirsty the took Apple CarPlay that you can get in a Hyundai or GM vehicle for free and charge you monthly. Makes no sense. I know how I’d use my money.
You certainly have one of the better reviews on this BMW, including the latest X7. The X7 is something that I’ve never heard of before, so I decided to let the user say it for itself rather than comment too much further for now. ⚠️ I do suggest that you should cite your music in your videos, as I plan to cite the music source in many of my future videos should I use any. The music heard in the video looks like some kind of suspense. (Note that the ⚠️ emoji is a heads up.)
$80 a year? People are complaining about that? Apparently THIS car isn’t for you. Go ahead and drive your Toyota Corolla, and when I pull up next to you, make sure that your lady has on blinders.
A friend of mine just bought an x6, and he is right, it smells expensive. Like everything smells good. The leather actually smells really good. BMW is luxury personified in a car. I love it!
The BMW X7 is the best full size SUV on the market for the money. My mom has one and it’s incredible. Only the Rolls Royce Cullinan and Bentley Bentayga are better.
It’s a Big Rig 🚛 not an SUV! The Grill it’s exactly close to PeterBuilt big Rig.. I do like the X5M. The interior hands down! Loved ❤️ it😘👍 No hates here I own 2018 BMW and I love it.
Why recommend the larger 22" tires?" Yes, it may look nicer to race-track speedster, but for any ride over 2 hours....back problems and chances for tire explosions & axles breakdowns dramatically higher than the smaller tires. Wish they had 20" (higher profile) tires for people who like to go on long rides as well as offroad driving without having to replace the tires and fix the axles every year.
GREAT review; however, was it just me or was there no comment on the ride? How soft is it? How stiff is it? How does the predictive suspension work and is it worth the upgrade?
Looks like a slightly souped up version of VW Atlas R Line. Not sure whether it is worth the price though. The room inside is pretty tight. Door handles are skewed and tiring to ride in.
Paying for Apple Carplay? I don't think so. Why pay for a feature that's becoming standard on just about every new car? I like BMW but they aren't the end of line in top end luxury automobiles.
It's gorgeous to be sure! But for a 120K, I could go to my Kia dealer, get a fully loaded Telluride, Stinger, and Soul. I could get nice cars for my entire family. I know, I know! On a different level and they can't really be compared. I'm just saying, 120K+ is a lot of money.
The only thing that this SUV is missing is the cooled rear seats, CD player, Android auto, and wood grain steering wheel. It'd be cool if the 2nd row seats had a power recline feature with a pop-out foot ottoman and lunch trays (like the Range Rover Autobiography) . The 2nd row should also have an optional massage and memory feature.
Not impressed for the price. This truck should be at least $ 30k less. My wife recently test drove several luxury SUVs and none impressed me honestly. She settled on the Buick Enclave. It has so much tech and features for around half the price of this.
I think it's a trade off between the Navigator and this. A fully loaded Black Label would be just over 100k, which is around 20k less than this tester Bimmer is. The Lincoln cant accelerate or handle like the 4.4L X7, but would likely be less to maintain and no ridiculous ACP subscription. The Navi has a nice interior (especially the Destination Theme) but is a step below the X7. I hope Lincoln is working out ride quality quirks and also a smaller displacement TT V8.
Wonderful, well done review. I don’t have the X7, but I have apple car play, and the only few times I have tried it, it was a disappointment (it sucks). It’s like siriusxm, just worthless imo.
