- Hi guys, this flight review video is about my recent flight from Vienna, Austria to Taipei, Taiwan on EVA Air's Boeing 787-9 in business class , this flight departed at 12:30 (VIE time) and arrived at 07:00 (TPE time).
This was my first flight on EVA's business class (which they call Royel Laurel), I already flew them from Paris to Taipei in their Premium Economy two years ago and I was very impressed with the service provided on that flight!
So I was very excited to try their brand new Boeing 787-9 business class product, the new product most resembles the Vantage XL-style seats that can be found aboard SAS’s Airbus A330s and A340s and Qantas’s Dreamliners and Airbus A330s.
The ground experience at Vienna-Schwechat Airport was pleasant, the checkin was efficient but the Austrian Airlines Lounge near the D-gates was a bit disappointing as I expected better food offerings from a Do&Co catered lounge..
The flight itself turned out to be the best flight I ever took, the attention to detail just blew me away!
The flight attendants did an excellent job, I was addressed with my name every time and the service was extremely proactive. The food was excellent too, a full 5 course dinner.
EVA is also one of the few airlines that offers pajamas in business class and a really good amenity kit.
The plane, the seat, the flight attendants and the amazing food, I would rate it a solid 9,5.

Cant beat EVA's boarding and arrival music
I also have flown EVA business from HCMC, Vietnam to SFO, California with a layover in Taipei - I had a similar menu as well - I especially liked the Veuve Clicquot La Grande Dame as the Champagne choice!!!
The service even in the Economy class with EVA is excellent too!

i really love the inner and outer window options. for me i will pick the inner window and so i can stay closer to window without much in between me and the window. the size of the wellington beef is gigantic. this business class looks great when comparing with cx's which is going downhill now. great video. thx for sharing.
Sometime i enjoyed flight reviews that have no commentary (only subtitles) and just listening to the ambient sounds in the flight. Seems "therapeutic" for me.
Looks more natural but some folks prefer with flashy graphic or stunts. I enjoyed both format for sure as long it about flight review

Nice flight and nice reviews. At 13:22 you saw you enjoying the views of Eastern Turkey and at 13:44 you show what appears to be Mt. Ararat, looking west, so with that view you are actually over Armenia. Once the virus ends you should visit this spectacular country, with its nature, jazz, wine and cuisine.

Although I love Eva Air but I won't say they have the best business class. Overall, Eva Air is excellent with its service, facility and one most important criteria, Taiwanese's friendliness and hospitable traits. They are more soft spoken and polite as compared to some of the airlines in mainland China. Love your trip report. :-)
Thank you for the upload! Hoping to fly EVA sometime in the future, direct flight from Houston to Taipei. Well, at least that leaves more room for an adult liquid breakfast! Weird times indeed, I work in a grocery store, face masks are now a part of the uniform. I wonder if someone had checked yes, for the fever and/or cough option...do they get booted from the flight? A year prior..someone sneezes or coughs..no one cares..now...they get the death look from everyone!

THE Best Transpacific airlines in Business Class. In-flight amenities not many other carriers would provide. EVA even include Designer Jason Wu product's.
I traveled in Business from Hong Kong to Taipei, they changed the plane at the last moment and it was superb service and comfort!

Such a big improvement over the herringbone configuration on the 777. Asia carriers are constantly improving their hard products, which American airlines did the same.

I had hoped you had gone to the other lounge at VIE because when I took this same flight (via BKK not long ago), I also went to the Austrian lounge and was rather underwhelmed.
However, compared to the contract lounge EVA uses at AMS, it's heaven. It made me not want to fly EVA from AMS again.

Ikr.... I'm going to spend the money to fly Business in July to MNL and that is my biggest fear - spending $4k USD to have the experience ruined by some crying colicky kid behind me. Makes me want to do Prem Economy so I won't be disappointed

I agree , I think EVA business class is the best in Asia. Great service, great food, the hard product is good but I think Singapore’s seat are better.
I reviewed all three Singapore Airlines business class products before, SQ's new business class seat is nice but doesn't offer as much privacy as the staggered seats on EVA.

Thank you so much Mark! People in the cabin never really complain but I also always ask the flight attendants in advance if it's possible that I take a video. Regarding your question about the frequent flyer programme.. now that's a hard one because it all comes down to how many flights you take, where you fly and how flexible you are with transfers. If you fly in Asia a lot I recommend a Star Alliance ffp like Turkish Airlines Miles and Smiles.

as someone who has never flown. do you get to keep the amenities bag, headphones or little salt and pepper shakers. i assumed the pillow and blanket are left to be professionally sanitized and wrapped. the headphones are just not something i would think to share.
Flew Bangkok to London business class on EVA and was very impressed.
Finally a good professional airline review, unlike others such as Simply Flying which are so amateurish. Just a pity here, like all the others, that business class wines aren't given more detailed attention. As a business class flyer myself - and a professional of the wine trade - I like to know the details of what they serve and also if possible to have impressions given. This is especially important as a majority of BC flyers who pay a lot of money for a ticket want to enjoy wines onboard especially long-haul flights such as these. And sampling a few doesn't have to get one drunk either... that's NOT the purpose!

Thank you for the video. I have to say Business class has evolved tremendously in its offerings from my days of affordable upgrades and better than economy air fares. (Business class travel in the the late 90's and early 2000's).
Attentive flight attendants, (check) - good comfort lie flat seats (better than my offerings)--(well presented mostly tasty food). -- about what we have come to expect these days from most business class travel offerings from airlines. Some much better than others - but this is usually reflected in the seat price also. Asian airlines in general (especially with the flood of Chinese airlines now offering many International routes) , have become more competitively priced and once again it is worth considering a business class upgrade offering.
When Airlines get back off their knees after Corvid-19 and EVA manages to survive - (it is not a State run airline but I am sure it will get some form of cash infusion from the Government to help survive) , would you ever do a economy class comparison on EVA to rate them across the flying experience spectrum??
The reason I ask this many airlines offering a great business experience have really dropped the ball on economy - squeezing seat widths to below 18 to 17 inches across and less than 31 in front - offering only a variation of 2 freeze dried reheated food offerings on longer flights , plastic cutlery, no heated towels - and little in the way of attracting the Flight attendants - so while business is the way to go - less and less of the flying public can afford it ( See economics of air travel).
This means the greater majority of travelers flying experience is in economy not business. But to comprehensively rate an Airline IMHO the total package and how they treat all their passengers, would be interesting to me ..and possibly other travelers?? Again, thanks for your video.

Things might be different after COVID-19 but so far I have flown LHR-BKK-LHR 19 times with EVA , mostly in economy but the last two years in Premium Economy ,
simply because the service is so good that there is no reason to look elsewhere. Last year was the first time that I had to request Gluten free meals and was worried that I might get some bland horror ; no , the meals were absolutely superb , with the bonus of being served before everybody else.
I worked on the construction of Taiwan High Speed Rail for some 4 years, Eva Air were a partner in the project and so all our air travel was with them. My flight allowance was 1 return flight UK and I think it was 3 within Asia. plus all flights personally bought were upgraded.
I lived a 30 min drive south from the airport in a gated village, I found out several flight crew also lived there as did several from the project. I parked my car just off the airport and offered some crew a lift home, this turned into mutual party invites, lots of even higher upgrades after take off.
So Eva Air is a favorite of mine, sadly as I now live in Vietnam EA's routes don't work for me visiting the UK, it's either fly back to Taipei then London or use another carrier to Bangkok then London and the later did not work very well time wise.
The business class looked very similar to Emirates B777 set up, food looked good but steak always comes dry on flights? After flying the A380 I'm now spoilt, the in flight lounge is great and the lie flat bed the best I've ever used. I just hope I can get a few more trip in before their scrapped.

I'm just curious as to how their service is when it's a full plane! That's the real test!
I spent four years in Taiwan constructing the High Speed Rail which Eva Air was a partner of. All our company flights were with Eva and a large discount on self bought tickets with an upgrade on any ticket bought. In all the flights taken service was never an issue, staff regularly patrolling the isle with a tray cold drinks. I got on first names status with a lot of crew and even gave some a lift home after the flight.
It's just a shame Eva don't have a connection with Saigon to London with out back tracking to Taipei. Have tried using another airline to Bangkok for the onward Eva to London flight, but it didn't work well. So I'm stuck with Emirates as the next decent option.

Ich mag die EVA auch sehr. Bin mit denen bereits im A330, B777 und B787 jeweils Business VIE - BKK geflogen. Aber "beste Business Class Asiens" ist schon ein Bisserl zu viel des Guten... Da gibt es sehr sehr starke Konkurrenz. Singapore, Cathay Pacific, Hainan, JAL... Und ich sage es sehr ungern aber doch - die beste Business in der ich je gesessen bin (nicht asiatisch) ist leider die Qatar Q-Suite gewesen. Da ist eigentlich kaum noch Unterschied zu dem gegeben, was europäische Carrier "Frist Class" nennen.

regarding Food quality ... you can´t expect great Food from a austrian or german airline caterer , if you on a flight out of asia or dubai the food is much more better in quality and presentation.
