As a Houstonian, EVA air really struck gold when they started flights to IAH. We have a huge Filipino and Vietnamese community here so EVA really made it easier to go home. Just an overnight to Taipei, and depending on how long your layover is you can be at your destination that morning.
Totally agree! Flew EVA Air from Houston to Manila via Taipei a couple years ago and it was a wonderful experience. From the inflight food to the flight attendants. I really became fond of EVA. Glad that they’re still going strong here in IAH.
@@Phidiasan I flew PE from SFO to BKK, round trip. It was okay. The seats were fine, although on the transpacific legs I got stuck behind someone who kept the seat completely reclined the entire way. The footrests on the newer configuration are worthless. I am not a fan of the higher density 777. The weakest aspect of the flights was the catering. The food ranged from okay to a chicken and noodle breakfast dish that was the stuff of nightmares (I wish I had grabbed extra burgers from the McDonalds in the Taipei Airport). The cabin crew was very efficient. Perhaps too much so since asking for a cocktail from the menu surprised them. I found that if you ask for a beer they gave you the entire can.
Yes! I was thinking the same thing. I used to take EVA all the time from IAH when traveling to Asia for business. One of the fastest and easiest ways to get to Asia, Great connections in Taipei
thank you for your visit, im glad that you enjoyed your time here. Also at 2:00 the reason they dont want to check your covid vaccine pass is because recently our government stated that the covid era is "over" we're trying to get over it so yeah hope to see you again in Indonesia :)
The same has happened here in Nigeria too. So glad because I have stayed in country for as long as it took without getting vaccinated. Hopefully I travel this christmas
ANA is the best though especially the business class seats, EVA is nice for a budget friendly option, seats feel a little outdated for long haul business class.
Noel, this might be one of your best reviews in a while. Positive experience, you seemed to be super positive and excited, and the journey looked fantastic. Love to see it
I used to work at the international terminal at LAX helping wheelchair passengers, and EVA was my favorite airline to help. The staff were more friendly and organized.
Noel, the sugar crystal stick is for your coffee! Also did you know, that you can pre-book Lobster Thermidor and have Dom Perignon Champagne, one of the few Business products that offer this. The offer a "book the cook" feature too.
Glad you are reviewing EVA as it has been my favourite airline for UK - Bangkok and Taipei trips for years. Wonderful staff, comfortable berths and excellent food. Beats the "national" airlines by miles.
I flew TPE - JFK earlier this year. The food service out of TPE was really spectacular. The multi-course meal just kept coming. I think you may have slept through it as it wasn't on your video. Excellent service. Of course that doesn't justify the price difference but just need to say that Eva is a hidden gem.
EVA one of the best in sky IMO, I’ve flown with them LHR to BKK four times, then suddenly the prices doubled as they knew how good they had become. Last trip in December 22 I used Singapore Air, also very good but I think EVA has the edge, now Singapore flights for business class are up by a third, on what I paid in December, flying has become an expensive hobby these days.
I may have not been flying so much like you, but I flew a lot to Asia and Eva Air was always perfect to me. There are so underrated and are in my opinion on the same level like SIA.
Having just flown EVA Air from London to Australia via TPE, they refer to themselves as E.V.A. Air, not “EVA” Air. Was an amazing experience in J - lovely crews, nice comfy bed and good food. The 787-10 cabin is much more up to date than the 773 but still overall excellent. Taiwan has multiple high standard airlines that tend to get overshadowed by neighbouring airlines but they are as good if not better. 👍
This has been one of my smug little annoyances for years 😂😂. I'm equally as smug about making sure to say Por-shuh for Porsche. I'm a lowly peasant so these are just 2 little examples of letting myself be a pretentious sounding douchebag when correcting people 😂😂
This isn't unusual, though. For example, I work for Purina and one of our pet food brands is ONE. Customers call it "one" but here at the factories we refer to it as "O.N.E." Why? Who knows?
Retro liveries are amazing!! As a Dutchy I love the retro livery of the KLM B-737 registration PH-BXA. It stands out so much whenever I fly from AMS-Schiphol. KLM is all about white and blue, but these burgundy-red letterings on the fuselage and tail are extraordinary.
Yeah, that's funny about the breakfast "lollipop", Noel. You stick it in a hot drink like your tea or coffee and stir it around. The sweeter you want your drink, the longer you stir it around. So funny. Love the layout of the seats. Glad you got some more sleep.
Hearing how large the loo is and that you could do all sorts of things in there, followed by how friendly and helpful the crew is while you're still doing the loo review, really got me thinking.
I love Indonesia one of my favourite place. People are nice, clean country, Taxi drivers are professional. For a moment I thought you're heading home means the 🇬🇧...lol
The 777 and GE90 is a match made in heaven if you ask me, nothing beats that noise. My all time favourite engine/aircraft and the best one I've ever flown on in my opinion :)
Too bad you didn’t mention the awesome meal service on long haul flights with EVA. You can pre order many types of meals and they also offer lots of amazing snacks available on demand like burger and fries. My favorite airline.

You'll have no problem with the connection. It's not a big airport, and if you don't go to the lounge you'll be waiting around at the gate! The staff are super helpful too.
Now that you're again in Houston, consider to take a flight to the brand-new airport AIFA in Mexico city (NLU) to know your impressions of it. Aeromexico will open a new flight from HOU to NLU in May. Should be very valuable to have your opinion of this new airport with your long experience in most of the airports in the world, and we would be happy to see you again travelling to Mexico.
You can’t beat an RB 211 at full chat making the buzz saw noise. I’ve been in the Engine test bay at Manchester Airport with a 757 doing a full power run. Watching the Tail and Stabilisers bouncing around was an awesome sight.
@@michaelreid8857 No worries. Regarding the Tri Stars, same engines but the difference in noise when on startup from a 757 was incredible. The feeling of your whole body vibrating when on a headset was odd to say the least. Come to think of it the PIA 747’s used to do the same droning noise, interesting.
One of the best business class experiences we’ve ever had (SFO-TPE-BKK). The catering out of SFO was phenomenal, which is very unusual as most other airlines have pretty tasteless catering out of SFO. Convenient connection in TPE that got us into BKK around noon. Only issue we’ve ever had with EVA is that their TOE-SFO flights seem to universally board and depart late.
I love it when United dons the old Continental Airlines livery because I used to fly back and forth between O'Hare and LAX on Continental all the time, decades ago. My favorite flight on Continental was on a 747-100 with only 6 of us passengers.
I used to fly on Continental 707’s ORD-LAX in First Class. Back in the day, Continental was THE carrier to fly on that route. Under the leadership of Bob Six the service was phenomenal. 😉👍🏻. Fond memories ☺️
Your vlogs are awesome dude! Loved watching the Indonesia trips, it's one of the most incredible countries I've had the fortune of visiting. The people are super friendly and welcoming! Hope to catch you at an airport one day, ha!
The best retro liveries in my opinion are the BA 747 Landor (which I had the privilege to fly on!), as well as the Saudi 777, and finally the Lufthansa 747-8. Being Canadian I would love to see Air Canada do a retro liveried 777 in the late 70’s livery with black underneath the cockpit windows.👍🏼
Because my Dad worked for British Airways in their Manhattan US headquarters, I’m partial to the classic BOAC Speedbird livery. It’s a shame that the airline had to take that 747 out of service. I also liked BA’s Negus and Landor liveries
@@rivetjoint6355 when I was a kid, my family and I flew on the VC 10 quite a few times from Karachi Pakistan on our way back home to NYC. KHI to LHR on a VC 10 and LHR to JFK on a VC 10.

I flew EVA Air from LA to Manila Philippines to meet my girlfriend and we took a charter flight to her city. Had a layover in Taipei both ways. I really like that airline. I use them everytime when I see her.
My favourite retro livery has to be the British Airways Landor livery they used on the 747 before it was retired Additionally, I’m also a sucker for the GE90 engines. I also like the GE9X engines that were introduced on the new 777-9
Could you please start adding the reviews of the various lounges that you visit? It's nice seeing all the things you've chosen, but it would be nicer to see all the stuff they have Thank you very much
Noel, the reason they didn't ask for your COVID pass is because they're not required to produce any documents to any regulatory board regarding your vaccination status. Even though the mandate is there by the current admin, in practice it is never really used anymore.
Having tried both EVA and China Airlines from Jakarta, my verdicts are, for food EVA wins, for Cabin ambience and seat i love China Airlines (their Premium Eco is so underrated) probably because they use younger A359 fleet. Now for cabin crew a bit interesting because in Business and premium Eco both airlines gives their best, very attentive, but in economy EVA cabin crew still maintain the same level of service while with China Airlines you can tell they were there just for the sake of working. so if I'm flying Economy I'll take EVA but for Premium/Business I'll take China Airlines, both offers fantastic price point
I flew Eva about 20 years ago J Class from MNL. Personally I was very disappointed in Taiwanese cuisine. It was terribly Oily! For that reason alone, I would pass at ever flying Eva again!
Great review and you’ve captured the essence of EVA perfectly. Use Royal Laurel Business LHR- BKK and return often and their level of consistency is remarkable. Always an Unobtrusive, hard working crew and immaculate cabin and guaranteed that I sleep well in that seat. But the Premium Economy product is the real jewel in their crown, usually remarkable value for money, particularly on a 12 hour plus sector. IFE upgrade well overdue, but very much an underrated carrier.
Not really a retro livery but liveries from the past both PanAm and Braniff (the flying carrot) are ones i love due to flights as a child on them across the pond.
I was flying EVA premium economy once and got super lucky and upgraded to business class for free. What an experience! Nowadays I fly China Airlines to Taiwan because EVA doesn't go to my local airport (ONT) but EVA provides fantastic service.
I flew EVA business LHR-BKK in 2016 and paid £1550 each (5 of us) for a return flight, I booked it a couple of months before they got the 5 star award. Since then the price has become totally uncompetitive. By far the best business class experience I've had, but the £4k cost now of that same flight just puts it out of reach. It's a shame, but so grateful I got to fly with them even if it was just the one time.
Oh is THAT why the flights are so expensive now? I’m looking at over $4000 for round trip from SF to Thailand, and the long leg back is only premium economy!
So nice to be home. Your one way business class airfare is an on going rate this time. I paid almost eight thou dollars round trip to the Phil through American Airlines and Cathy Pacific. Definitely insanely expensive as what you say.
Mate you tried the worst one. EVA airlines b787 is fantastic and the China airlines a350 is also fantastic, the new starlux also offers a very nice product and its going to be in America soon. The b777 was nice for its time but is old and outdated now so I recommend trying those out and also staying in Taipei for a few days, you won't regret it.
I really love EVA. I find their service really great. Their fares used to be more reasonable but have got really expensive lately. The business class seat are good but showing their age. The pjs in business class are a nice touch. I transited TPE on a flight from BKK. The flight from BKK was late and EVA held a lot of flights to the US as there were a lot of passengers on hat flight going to LAX, JFK, YYZ,
Perfect timing Noel! I'm flying EVA business class on the 777 back from TPE to Europe tomorrow. I don't know about the cost - I also used miles. I chose row 2 because I thought it would be quieter but after that, I'm actually thinking of trying to move back nearer the engine. The lounge at TPE doesn't look too impressive to be honest and I'll be in there for quite a while (noon hotel checkout, flight leaves at 11pm). I AM glad to see they give you PJ's though, as this will be my longest ever flight at 15hrs. I also spent much of the past six weeks flying around Indonesia. Great minds plan alike eh?
My fav retro livery was Continental/Garuda. When they had a joint venture, 1/2 the plane was painted in the classic Continental Proud Bird red and gold and the other complete side of the plane was painted in Garuda International. THAT was a first, (and a last) LOL
Noel, don't you DARE ever call it a shrimp. Ever. I know you live in the States now, but it is, and will always be, a King Prawn. Shrimp are small little tiny things you get from Southend in Essex. Delicious, but your accent belies your roots, you are English and will forever be so, it is a King Prawn. Never a shrimp! Lol. But that looks like a fantastic flight!
Thank you for this great review. My husband and I are actually going to Indonesia this weekend for 3 weeks, and we will be flying with EVA Air in their business class from Toronto! Hopefully, the weather is much more nicer than the snow we had here just this morning.
At 26:44, the lollipop is really a sugar-coated stirrer for your coffee/tea so that you can dissolve more or less sugar at your discretion while stirring. 😄
The GE90s are a good engine but to me the General Electric CF6 will always be my favorite I flew on an Air Canada 767 from Calgary to Toronto and just closed my eyes when the engines reaved up during takeoff just to take in the sound and just fell in love with it from that point on and so far nothing has really come close to it.
Back int’ day I used to maintain the EVA combi freighter at LGW on a turnaround and the crews used to cater us a meal whilst on the ground. Terrific crew even back then.
I noticed an MD11 on the apron at the 22:00 mark. Not many of those left. I used to fly them regularly with JAL from Singapore to KUL. Could not make out the airiine on the rainy night you recorded this.
I worked a lot in Taiwan and colleagues from the US paid ridiculous 10k+ fares for their return flights to Taipei. Although of course flights originating elsewhere in Asia to the US transiting through Taipei potentially could be much cheaper than those originating in Taipei, perhaps loads directly out of Taipei are so good that they don’t bother enticing feeders from South East Asia with attractive fares.
Lol, the brown sweet lollypop is sugar for your tea or coffee. Have taken this flight in business class a number of times. Yes a bit expensive but good. Keep up the good work. Cheers
Your " breakfast Lollypop" is actually a replacement for a sugar stick to stir your coffee and sweeten your coffee with. You can find them in candy stores and some are actually honey.
Re the GE90's, I agree with you. I spot in Glasgow and have heard both the low moan of them starting up after push back, and that lovely howl of them spooling up at the start of take-off many many times yet it's always a thrill to hear. Sadly Emirates are changing from B777 to A380 next month so I don't know when I'll hear that magical GE90 sound next.

I flew EVA Air from LA to Manila Philippines to meet my girlfriend and we took a charter flight to her city. Had a layover in Taipei both ways. I really like that airline. I use them everytime when I see her.
My favourite retro livery has to be the British Airways Landor livery they used on the 747 before it was retired
Additionally, I’m also a sucker for the GE90 engines. I also like the GE9X engines that were introduced on the new 777-9
Could you please start adding the reviews of the various lounges that you visit? It's nice seeing all the things you've chosen, but it would be nicer to see all the stuff they have
Thank you very much
Noel, the reason they didn't ask for your COVID pass is because they're not required to produce any documents to any regulatory board regarding your vaccination status. Even though the mandate is there by the current admin, in practice it is never really used anymore.
3:08 I LOVE Plaza Premium lounges❤️. All of the ones I’ve been to were all just like that one, very spacious and not overly crowded.
Do you order halal meals on these airlines or just take what they offer you? I'm curious because I always order either halal or vegetarian.
I flew Eva about 20 years ago J Class from MNL.
Personally I was very disappointed in Taiwanese cuisine. It was terribly Oily!
For that reason alone, I would pass at ever flying Eva again!
My first flight when I was 7 or 8 was on a PSA 727. That will always be my favorite livery, love the smile!
I’m contemplating a trip from San Francisco to Thailand for Dec 2023 … please tell me while premium economy is the way to go 😊 thanks!,
Noel, pretty sure that was a honey stick for your tea or coffee! Great flights! Thanks for sharing!
EVA is always my first choice when I am flying long distance. Wonderful airline.
Noel,on emirates a lot of their older 777’s they still have the feature that you can make a call from the remote and you can also call another seat.
Emirates a380 has it
Virgin have that on their A330’s and used to have it on the B747’s (rip)
So nice to be home. Your one way business class airfare is an on going rate this time. I paid almost eight thou dollars round trip to the Phil through American Airlines and Cathy Pacific. Definitely insanely expensive as what you say.
I’ve flown EVA air and find them an airline that always maintain a good standard.
Every time you made the ‘Wall-E’ reference made us chuckle. We do it whenever we see EVA air on Airline Videos Live.
“EE-vah!”
Random question Noel, but how is life treating you in Texas so far? (always looks nice and sunny in your videos)
Indeed, love me some GE90 engines. It's soothing and medicinal when on a long haul flight.
My favorite retro livery was Braniff.
I remember the big orange on the ramp at Gatwick as a kid.
I flew on the 747 400 from Amsterdam to Bangkok years ago...in evergreen de luxe class in the nose...fantastic
FYI : The former EVA Air B777 pilot and Founder of STARLUX will pilot the first flight (A350) to LAX on 26/4
Very nice. Thank you. (I think you're supposed to stir your coffee with the sugar crystal stik...)
What did one GE90 say to the other GE90……….I’m a huge fan 😂😂😂
I'm going to bank that one to use at a later date!
Stick it on a T shirt Noel, I’d buy one 👍
We like giddy as a kipper Noel. More of him please.
Northwest/KLM had something like that!
I'm glad you're discussing this: Apparently, Nonstop Dan rarely finds anything too expensive.
As a United employee at ORD. I completely agree with you on the GE90. Nothing like hearing those beasts fire up
Thank you for this great review. My husband and I are actually going to Indonesia this weekend for 3 weeks, and we will be flying with EVA Air in their business class from Toronto! Hopefully, the weather is much more nicer than the snow we had here just this morning.
It would be nice if you could mix up these great reviews of business class etc with real-life (to most of us) economy class reviews please.
Sure thing, check out my previous 4 videos which were all in economy!
Hi Noel I had flown Eva air years ago but to see how well they have improved over the years is a wonder and your vido just proved it. cheers Gowra
At 26:44, the lollipop is really a sugar-coated stirrer for your coffee/tea so that you can dissolve more or less sugar at your discretion while stirring. 😄
Your review of the strange music video was amazing!😂😂😂😂
The London to BKK flight always looked great with Eva Air. Especially when they had the 747.
Thanks for the vid Noël, they are a welcome distraction from the stress in my life
My pleasure!
Since you have moved , you seem a lot happier within yourself, and it comes through with your recent videos.
I love the old Pan Am livery. Used to see my aunt leaving from Prestwick to go back to Canada and she always seemed to fly Pan Am.
I work for Cfan we build the ge90 composite fan blades in San Marcos Texas. We also build the Genx blades for the 787 and 747.
I noticed an MD11 on the apron at the 22:00 mark. Not many of those left. I used to fly them regularly with JAL from Singapore to KUL. Could not make out the airiine on the rainy night you recorded this.
Chinese love garlic breads, so all Chinese airlines have garlic breads for business and first class. No matter mainland China, Hong Kong, or Taiwan.
The "breakfast lollypop" is sugar for your coffee...you swish it in your coffee (or tea)
I flew Garuda's retro 777 in 2020 from Ams to Jakarta, it was a lovely flight.
My favorite retro livery is the EL AL 787 Dreamliner. ..........just beautiful. Reminds me of the old 707
Yes. The seats all very nice but, although I know its safer, I do not want to fly backwards, thank you!!
Lol, the brown sweet lollypop is sugar for your tea or coffee. Have taken this flight in business class a number of times. Yes a bit expensive but good. Keep up the good work. Cheers
Love that you used the coffee stirrer as a lolly pop!
Your " breakfast Lollypop" is actually a replacement for a sugar stick to stir your coffee and sweeten your coffee with. You can find them in candy stores and some are actually honey.
That breakfast lollipop looked interesting....
I like what you said about the cabin crew it really tells when they are happy certain five star airlines …. They are not if you know you know
Re the GE90's, I agree with you.
