    I did this years ago. It doesn't matter how you print the image. You can take any picture, even cut one from a magazine. It's the stuff you put on it that makes it work. Some of the comments complaining or even asking for you to hold their hand are annoying. I appreciate you giving this content to us free of charge.

    As an adaptation to this have you tried using water slide decals printed with a pigment inkjet printer or laser printer? It gets rid of the rubbing stage and possibly the coats of glue on the canvas and the transparent decal. A spray sealant might be a better overcoat. Of course the other option is to get a large inkjet printer that can print to canvas. For smaller letter/legal size inkjet printers there is printable canvas & fabric sheets usually found in craft stores. Use some tiling/poster software to split a single large image into smaller sections. This would allow you to create the look of a larger piece using existing printers.

    This is great fun. I actually had a go at this myself about three or four years ago when I took a photograph of my furry friend s black and white Tuxedo Cat. I used a system called Modge Podge, which produces similar results also requiring the use of water and a cloth as you describe in your demonstration.
    Doing stuff like this can be very cathartic and rewarding and is an amazing fun pastime. Love this video.💯🌞

    • @powertexaustralia9230
      @powertexaustralia9230  Рік тому +1

      Hey thanks... Im glad you enjoyed it... I havent tried it on Ampersand Claybord... I would test it on a small surface... Ampersand is quite absorbent so you'd have to work quickly... get used to the process on something guaranteed to give you good results ... I usually get people to do their first one (A5)on a small piece of aluminium off cut from the printers discarded signs - its less absorbent so you dont have to work as quickly... you just have to take care removing the paper backing as the surface is slippery - I hope thats helpful... enjoy! 😜

    • @powertexaustralia9230

      Hey there... you can certainly experiment! I find it doesn't transfer as well to textured surfaces however you can overlay the image over light coloured surfaces e.g. black & white - where the image is white there is no ink so the acrylic painted layer will come through creating a ghost image

    • @powertexaustralia9230
      @powertexaustralia9230  Рік тому +7

      Hey... Thanks... Im glad you enjoyed it! ☺️ Just use regular photocopy paper 80-100GSM and an open weave cloth (like "Chux" wipe in Australia)... if the paper is tearing and the print isn't transferring the medium may be drying before you've transferred it to the new surface... you need to ensure you have enough medium and that you work quickly to ensure it doesn't dry during the process. Please dont hesitate to ask me anything else if this isn't clear 😜🎨

    • @Paul-su3qh
      @Paul-su3qh Рік тому +2

      @Noah G. First it is important to use a good quality paper to print your image on.
      Next, there are Two reason why the paper will tear.
      One) insufficient moisture or too much. The paper needs just enough to damp the surface and wait a minute or two to allow absorption. You will be able to see some of the image showing through the back of the photo image. If the moisture is damped enough.
      Two) rubbing gently and lightly to remove the backing paper while still moist. Dampen again if drying to quickly.
      Start running from the centre and work gently towards the edges making sure that the pressure you apply is minimal.
      This should help you achieve a good result and not tear the image. Remember to be gentle.

    How far above the canvas was the blow dryer? I couldn't see how tall of a box you used. Also the hole of the box was just barely in the edge of the shot. Just thought you should know because I'm sure the proximity of the dryer to the canvas is pretty crucial to prevent burning and incorrect setting..? But I did really enjoy your video can't wait to try!

      Hey Amanda Im glad you enjoyed the video... The hairdryer was approximately 40cm from the canvas, with the hole cut in the centre of the box... don't leave it unattended ☺❤🎨🎨

      the photo is printed on a laser printer (colour photocopier) onto regular photocopy paper 80-100GSM … you can use any canvas and transfer onto many other surfaces using Powerprint transfer medium from Powertex Art Supplies... I finish it with Easycoat Glossy or Matt also available from Powertex ☺I hope that’s helpful

    Great video! I wasnt clear on your photo. Was this an enlarged photo from photopaper or a photo from a magazine? Im curious if you can set a photo from a magazine this way. Also, was your canvas prepared with gesso first or just raw canvas? Thank you!

      Thanks... Im glad you enjoyed it ☺I use my own photos / or photos of my artwork (not magazine images) printed on regular photocopy paper (colour photocopy / laser print) I haven't tried transferring magazine images / My canvases are prepared with gesso 😜 enjoy creating 🎨🎨🎨

    • @powertexaustralia9230
      @powertexaustralia9230  Рік тому

      Transferring a magazine image with Powerprint doesn't work because the paper doesn't absorb the medium... A work around would be to make a colour photocopy of the magazine image and transfer that 😜🎨🎨

      Awesome... enjoy! For a big canvas / artwork you could print a jigsaw image of A4 prints and transfer ... I've always thought this could be interesting... i.e. you could enlarge an image to over a meter if you wanted and jigsaw the A4 parts together... alternatively you can transfer up to A3 and then extend /add mixed media ☺

    Interesting process. What format is your original image? Inkjet or laser on paper?

    • @powertexaustralia9230

      Hey Mike it was a laser print on paper 😎

    • @Paul-su3qh
      @Paul-su3qh Рік тому +1

      @Mike Page: it can be done using either type of printer, but laser printing is generally thought to be best. I have done this process using the Inkjet printer. However the printed image required more care using this process.

      @powertexaustralia9230  Рік тому +2

      @@Paul-su3qh yes the inkjet printer gives a more washed out / watercolour effect... ☺ but like you said you have to be careful you dont go too far 🤣

      ABSOLUTELY!!! There are so many possibilities... YES you can paint on it... experiment and play with mixed media and layers of photos... Read the description for more information... I have an online course Photo Transfers & Mixed Media that guides you through two complete paintings... if you purchase it any future content I make will be available to you at no extra cost 😜
