thanks for this. I used my trolling motor for years as a transom mount and just got a new boat and saw all these people with trolling motors mounted in the front of the boat and i was like how'd they do that? I searched everywhere on the internet until i came to your video. I guess i didnt realize the top of the motor could be removed and switched around. duh!
Thank you! I plan to let my wife operate the trolling motor. I've had to ask whoever was sitting up front what direction my old motor was pointing and it was annoying as H! Letting her drive will give me more time to fish and not worry about direction!
I got a couple new Newports. They were Kayak series, which to me said 'short shaft' so they don't look ridiculous mounted in the middle of my kayak(I have a Brooklyn Kayaks PK14 so it has holes in the middle to drop pedals or trolling motors through). What I didn't realize - even though it was right there in the pictures... i can be dumb sometimes), is it ALSO meant - Transom mount reversed. lol so here's hoping I can as easily reverse mine - it does have a bolt up front on the shaft right under the head, so that's promising....
Glad it helps man, the plastic piece is a rudder that I made to help the motor steer faster. It cuts through the water and creates more surface area for the motor to help it turn the boat. Here is my diy video for that mod: ua-cam.com/video/kY-Ow4mJagM/v-deo.html
I have a m/k trolling motor that I want to change from transom to bow mount, but it does not have the screw that you show this motor having. What model number of M/K is this if you don't mind sharing. I think I will buy an additional motor for the front as I live on an electric motor only lake. Thanks.
Just made this mod to my Minkota and now I'm getting some very strange behavior. It won't stay vertical and wants to rise up, especially at speed 5. Do you have any ideas?
Honestly I’ve never ran this trolling motor in the transom mounted position but I’m sure there wouldn’t be much of a difference. The biggest difference might be from the distribution of weight from back to front depending on where you place the bulk of your weight in gear. This would be from the bow sitting higher or lower in the water creating more drag but that wouldn’t have anything to do with the motor.
That is EXACTLY what I was looking for. Thanks.
Super simple, and straight to the point. Thanks, worked like a charm!
Just what I was looking for, I was about to return it.
You don't know how much this helped..I thought the guy on the lake was a wizard or some shit...

Awesome, just bought a used one that was set up for the bow, but I wanted a transom mount... thought I messed up until I found this!
Thanks" going reverse just got a 112 Riptide 36v...new sub from Idaho!
Thanks, I appreciate the support.🔥🔥🔥
Thank you for your videos, they're very helpful.
Great video. Thanks for getting right to the point.
Excellent video. I have a transome mount and think it will be easier if it was in the front of my 6’8 boat

Just subbed! This was super useful! Thanks!
Thank you Sir
Good video gonna be doing this right now

Perfect and my son bought the same boat. Would like to see how you set the boat up. Thx
If you switch back and forth, to avoid twisting-snapping internal wire connection, good to rotate back in opposite direction (I think)
Thanks man....great info..!!! What is that plastic piece that is on the motor for..?? Thanks in advance!!

When to do this dose it make you use reverse to go forward and forward to go reverse?
Nope, it still works the same as normal. Hope this helps!
Mine does..
Any help would be awesome.
Probably won't help everybody but bass pro shop sells a bow mount adapter for jon boats
Big thank you:)
Can you show how you put it on the front of the Jon Boat?
Bass pro shop sells a bow mount adapter for about $35 it's worth it
I think it is necessary to make sure that the propeller is not touching the boat at the new position (at the bow)
What about the bow dimensions? Thicknesses of various boats ? Will a transom mount adapt ?
This is a big help! Do you know if it works for all minn kotas?
Yea I’m pretty sure it does.
Thanks!

I want to see how you mounted and run the motor off the bow!!!
Have you seen any difference in propulsion with going bow mount vs transom mount?
Honestly I’ve never ran this trolling motor in the transom mounted position but I’m sure there wouldn’t be much of a difference. So do you need to run it in reverse then? Once you rotate the handle.. got one on the way and trying to figure it out..
No, it will work the same as normal it is just rotated
@@bluecollaroutdoors5556 thank you! Happy fishing!
Thank you!
