I purchased the Minn Kota Powerdrive 45lb thrust with co-pilot for my 1542 Jon boat and it works great! When I am doing a guided fly fishing trip, the co-pilot allows me to be up on poling stand in the rear of the boat sighting fish while operating the trolling motor via the remote at the bow and the combination is awesome. I machined my own trolling motor mount out of polypropylene , the design allows me to take the motor off via two hand bolts to either store it away or interchange with my anchoring system. When not doing sighting trips, but guiding on reservoirs finesse and dimiki style fishing the depths, I need to use my fish finder/sonar. That being said, currently I am in the process of fabricating a bow transducer mount that can be placed on or removed in less than a minute. I was going to attach the transducer to the trolling motor but since I am not always going to be using it, I did not want to add springs or other stuff to the trolling motor to avoid wrapping the wire around the shaft. Instead, I want it to be a system that it is easily installed and removed. Here you can see my build/trolling motor mount on this video. tight lines and good luck! ua-cam.com/video/Tt97sR8Kuqw/v-deo.html
Needed to see this. I’m in a similar situation with my jon boat. So those 3 inch lags held up? Everyone says it needs to be bolted but I can’t get under to bolt. I’m hoping to just do it like tgis🤙🤙🤙

What do you use to keep the trolling motor head from bouncing while trailering the Jon boat?
Thanks for this! This is exactly what I’ve been looking for to install mine
Glad I could help!
What's everybody think about using a trolling motor in the small back bays like tidal creeks ? I know typically they're used in lakes and ponds
How's it holding up?
Sold it, hard to use with a transducer
