  • Join me as I explore through the Tombstone mining district in search for beautiful gemstones. The video starts with a summary of the wild old mining days of Tombstone Arizona.
Then I take you on an adventure through the abandoned mining complex where I find deep mine shafts and hard rock mine entrances.
While on my desert expedition, I find many beautiful rock specimens, including turquoise, chrysocolla, azurite, malachite, and even peacock ore.
At the end of the day, I feel a sense of accomplishment as I trailblazed through the harsh desert terrain in search of natural treasures, just like Ed Schieffelin did in the old days of Tombstone exploration.

Tombstone is a lot of fun, and finding the rocks made it all the better! I am planning to go back to that site and going into the mine I found.

@@RusticSkillsYep! I moved out here from Michigan to help out with my dad, hes passed now. Rockhounding here in Arizona is like going to a rock store!! They are EVERYWHERE! LOL Yeah I got excited just finding the stuff Apache tears are found in. although I didn't find an Apache tear. haha Right now I'm living vicariously through your videos! LOL I don't know if I would ever go out alone, and its tough finding someone that likes rocks to go with me. I'm in Apache Junction, not a whole lot of places to find stuff here. I might try looking in a few washes around here see what I can find! Most of my rocks right now Im buying at a wholesale rock n gem store. LOL🤷‍♀

My best investment, waayyy before I started rockhounding, were my most recent hunting boots. The tread on them is so aggressive. After wearing my Walmart slip on tennis type shoe, & falling with rocks in my pocket and landing on rocks I’ll never go out in this type of terrain with those shoes. Causing a black, blue & purple bruise and bruising my tailbone. Especially with a bad knee and my age. I can four wheel with the best. I can hike all mountains with those shoes. My next best investment was my Estwing hammer. I make my husband follow behind me cause I’ve laid the hammer down to many times and forgot it right where I laid it. They are expensive and hard to find in the stores cause They get sold out quickly.
Very good video thank you for sharing this outing with us. 😊

Let me know the brand, I am in the market for new boots! I have Timberlands, and I like them, but they are worn out. This terrain was pretty rocky and loose, one wrong move and I am on my ass rolling down Pokey Hill. Estwing is the best, I agree! I almost had a panic attack when I couldn't find it. It fell off my belt which is so weird and didn't even make a noise. It was a miracle I found it! Thanks for your support!!!

@@RusticSkills they are Tamarack. I believe I got them at Sportsman. They have oak camo. Not sure if they are still in the store? Hopefully they are I should’ve gotten 2pair. It’s so hard to find a good woman’s hiking, tactical, or hunting boot on my size cause they sale out fast. Also the selection for woman’s outdoor boots is so limited. I drawing a blank on the brand of boot I got that once I got home and put them on for an hour, just sitting they killed my feet. So I took them back asap. They had a hound dog as their logo. Absolutely horrible boot. And they seem to be a popular hunting/hiking boot. Some of, a lot of the terrain where I go is very loose. And I’m clumsy as it is. Then those damn wait a minute bush’s & cactus are brutal to the skin.
🤣 I must let you know I did not lose the rocks I had found when I went down and did all that body damage. 🤣 I should’ve just went down that embankment on my butt. I knew it was crumbly/lose.
Ohhh I knew your panic cause I’ve done it myself. Sheer panic and I instantly get in a bad mood. Thankfully you did find it.
You’re most welcome 🤗 I truly like your channel and would love to see it grow.

Love the history lesson and your knowledge of the geology there! Lots of cool finds. Glad you also found the hammer. Could attach some bright fluorescent colored zip ties to tools and gear to easier assist in locating when dropped. Also good when in group setting by marking which tools are yours. Keep up the good work!

Thats a good tip, I can't believe I lost - and then found - my rock hammer! I am discovering and learning a lot about the geology in this area, it is very unique. Thank you for your support!

Great video, you have a new subscriber now! I was just there yesterday, that's crazy!! We ended at that 900' shaft, but we mainly explored off of Owl's Nest Rd and hiked up to Emerald Mine. There's a boiler at the adit opening. Hope to see you out and about exploring someday...

Ah the Emerald Mine, that is where I was! I saw the adit on the map but ended up exploring the manganese tailings. I will definitely have to explore the adit! We might bump elbows in the bush, you never know....
