Thank you for this video - it helped immensely. It isn't a "quick" repair, but not too hard once you start tearing into things. I will add one note of caution: when re-inserting the assembly into the driver door, the arm that goes to the handle accidentally went *behind* the cable harness and caused the lock mechanism to think it was being turned to "lock" with the key repeatedly, which led to being locked out several times. Took it back out and made sure the metal arm was *inside* the cable harness (closer to the interior of the car) and everything worked normally.
2024 update: These assemblies are now $1200 each from Lexus!! Plus $370/hour with an hour minimum per door panel.

Just wanted to take a moment and say props to you both for this video! I changed both driver side and passenger side motors successfully, thanks to your video. A couple more tips: give yourself 2 hours if you've never removed and replaced your door panel, also make sure you remove the negative terminal on your battery if you're going to take a longer amount of time. Thanks again for this great video!

Just picked one of these up and missed a door lock on the inspection! could have at least used it as a bargaining chip. This seems like a lot, you're obviously a pro at this but I'll give it a shot. Thanks for vid!

Thank you! Just a note, the cars with soft close doors have different case halves. The soft close motors are contained in the same space as the lock actuators, and because of this lexus ran serious through bolts and screws through the cases. So the cases don't separate on soft close door models, the motors just burn out.

You can still get them out! I just did it on mine - it's a pain in the butt but you have to take a flathead/knife to the casing where it's glued together. Once you pry it apart though, the motors are easy to get to and the assembly goes back together well with all those screws!

This was super useful. I have a question, my rear locks ‘squeak’ when I lock my car, looking at your video I’m not sure what component it is that’s making that noise, any ideas?

Nice work! Very helpful! One question: the window rail doesn’t seem to fit as it should after the lock mechanism is bolted in. Any suggestions?

This is for the servo motor, but mine won't even stay shut. You can hear the electric door locks engaging moving etc.

My electrician did this and now my remote wont unlock lock the car but can do it manually from the inside switches. Plus i cant also open the car through key hole manually. Any idea

There are 2 or 3 spots on one of the cable connections to the pivoting arm from the little electric motor. It may be that he hooked the cable to the wrong spot on one of the motors and it’s all screwy because of that now.

This was a nice explanation and well done. However there is no way in hell I’m doing this to 3 of my doors lol. I’ll just have to manually lock them

I have a 2002 LS 430 and the rear latches (same door) look completely different from this? These appear far more complicated than mine do. Replaced all motors and didn't have any issues. Thanks for the video!
