you said you have a bad memory. i sent you an email about two weeks ago. asking if you wanted to see and do a review on my Lincoln MKS awd. before i got rid of it next year. Curious if you would be interested in it?
Major thing to remember when purchasing a car that is over a decade old is that you are buying the owner, not the car itself. I got mine from a measly owner who skipped oil changes and took poor care of the car. Here I am 3 years later and paying exactly the amount I paid for the car itself to get it to almost stock condition including the engine rebuild. 150k miles and had to have a 3UZ-FE rebuilt! My repairs and maintenance journal goes on and on so, guys, check your car thoroughly. I know the maintenance history in the US is very clear and you can check it, but in other countries not that much. Also, in poor climates, check for rust and underside conditions. And tell you what - after all these repairs, it is still a great car, an amazing ride, a powerful tank that I still love and don't want to set..
Nice video! I have a 2004 UL 80,000 miles. Something I figured out that other owners may want to know. The I AGREE SCREEN. I also find any navigation system in a vehicle that does not connect to my phone useless. Go into settings on the touch screen and turn off the display screen. When you start the car the Lexus logo will appear and the screen will go blank after a few seconds with no I AGREE message ever appearing. If you push climate control or audio you can make any adjustments or changes you want and after about 10 seconds the screen will go blank again. However if you use the map/navigation the display screen will go back to default on.
Most important thing to replace is the Timing belt every 90k miles do the water pump at same time very very important to avoid super costly expense great video very informative Thanks

I was thinking of purchasing one of these cars, but i am now starting to understand that the only thing dependable about this car is the engine. How did Lexus/ Toyota engineers screw up the door actuators dependability after creating the most dependable v8 engine on the planet???? This engine is known to be a "mechanical marvel" certified to be used as an airplane engine or a boat engine, but they can't over engineer a working door actuator????!!!!

@@KylePantano the lock and unlock function on the exterior door handles only works about half of the time, even though the car recognizes that my key is near by. I had the dealership replace the key batteries and that didn't work so I had them program a brand lexus key fob and that hasn't solved the issue either. The unlock button on my key fob will unlock my driver's door but most times will not work to unlock the remaining doors. The smart access buttons under the steering wheel were reset so that's not the issue and I've also held my lock and trunk buttons to program the smart touch panel to unlock all four doors when touched (3 chimes). The strangest part is the interior lock button works every time. No one can diagnose the issue and it's seriously the worst part of this car.

I bought an '01 a few months back and the guy I bought it from must have watched this cause just about all of these things had been upgraded or replaced already. I love these cars so much, they do their job impeccably well and they're so under the radar. All I would suggest adding to it is get the EVC throttle controller, really wakes up the car and feels completely different, while having the option to revert to stock.
VVT solenoids are a common thing on these. Easy DIY fix. It can cause misfires and rough running. I need to do my sub. I am going to check out your video on that.
yea some toyota corollas can have that vvt issue as well. some hondas have a similar issue with their version of valve timing too.
how do you fix thte VVT solenoid? I am thinking about picking up one of these.
@@Cwrigh25 bet a youtube search will give you somethin. also picking up a couple repair manuals would be a good idea
The new Lexus rides now have Timing Chains. I still rather own that 430 that all have timing belts. Those cars are that amazing! Just set aside $1200 and have it professionally done preferably by the Car Wizard.
I’m 17 and I’m scared to have to replace all of these things and i won’t be able to afford it. I LOVE my car tho, she only has 121k!
The only thing you really would have to worry about is the timing belt. On mine the timing belt is cracked and needs replacing. I haven’t had any of the stuff he said go bad on mine yet.
@@instasingingvids3529 good thing it was done before I purchased. I understand it can cost like $1300
sounds like you either shouldve gotten a different car or maybe think about getting a ‘beater’ to keep the Ls miles low
@@MacLaw3084 I plan on actually making her my daily when I pay her off in a couple of months. I want to take it to the dealer and just have a full service done, even if it’s a couple thousand. I know that car can ride beautiful. I want to get a old school as a fun car.
As long as you keep up with regular maintenance you are unlikely to have major issues unless you have air suspension. The speakers will wear out from heat and age, but that’s normal for all cars.
When you buy any used car especially over 15 years is always as is. Checking is good but you won’t cancel a purchase over small broken things, you fix it yourself. It is an old car
I’m just now seeing this video again I saw it when it came out. You where one of the reasons I got my ls430. My grandpa always talked about how the ls400 was such a great car and I somehow always overlooked the 430 I was mostly into sportier cars but a saw one at a local car meet 05 black on black UL and fell in love I ended up trading my daily at the time 05 4runner sport for a decent example ls430 04 black on tan I love the car mine needs some love but it’s great everyone complements the car and a lot of the time think it’s a Mercedes’ I’ve actually traded my truck for a is300 and now I’m saving up for a second ls 430 and possibly letting my gf have this one. I’m probably not gonna buy anything but a Lexus now
Insert B-roll on LED bulb discussion for those not familiar.
been looking for two months! definitely getting one
ALL PARTS TEND TO FAIL 🫖
somebody. Anybody. SELL ME YOUR LS400/430
I have a 03 with 220k miles for 6000
@@thesetruths1433 I got a 93 recently
you said you have a bad memory. i sent you an email about two weeks ago. asking if you wanted to see and do a review on my Lincoln MKS awd. before i got rid of it next year. Curious if you would be interested in it?
Sorry I don’t check my mail often. I will get back to you.
@@KylePantano thank you Kyle, appreciate it!
Yep that's why I believe in extensive service records
A guy is selling a 01 LS 430 w/220k miles for 2,800 good deal?
They go for way more idk take I bought mine that same mileage for like 4-5k 2 years ago
Thank you!
That beep in the beginning just blew out my speaker smh
Thinking of getting my mom one of these to replace her rendezvous
Most important thing to replace is the Timing belt every 90k miles do the water pump at same time very very important to avoid super costly expense great video very informative Thanks
Моторчики на задних стойках отходит от амортизатора и их достаточно скрепить обратно и подвеска работает как надо
My cars door lock actuator failed in the back left before drivers door. Fixed both for cheap but it was definitely a lot of work
My rear passenger door wont lock or close looks like a spring is broke
Another thing that tends to fail is the stabilizer for the rear window shade. Some times it bends due to rough roads and the shade wobbles.
I still have my 2001 LS430, love this car
Literally All The Problems Is What I Have On My LS 😂😂
Anyone have any luck dealing with the inside out corrosion over the trip strip on the front doors? Mine is starting and I want to save the doors if possible. Thanks.
Nice video! I'm looking at purchasing an '01 Ultra Luxury with 91k and already had some things written down to check. So, it was good to add these other items to the list.
Your neighborhood is SERIOUSLY loud, yet you never mention it or even notice. Damn, I thought my area was rough, but now I don’t feel so bad. Wow...
We’re is a good place y’all recommend to buy in mint condition?
Buy from a Lexus dealer. They usually cant sell problem cars. Bought mone from Lexus of Lexington 2 years ago. Base non nav car. Love it !
@@jonelliott9627 aright thanks
I have an 06 Avalon that I'm considering parting with to get a 430. But after reading some of these comments, I'm not so sure.
You won’t regret it
@@gabegarcia7779 🤝
I was thinking of purchasing one of these cars, but i am now starting to understand that the only thing dependable about this car is the engine.
How did Lexus/ Toyota engineers screw up the door actuators dependability after creating the most dependable v8 engine on the planet????
This engine is known to be a "mechanical marvel" certified to be used as an airplane engine or a boat engine, but they can't over engineer a working door actuator????!!!!
Are most of these issues going to happen past 100k? I’m trying to buy one with under 100k miles
All depends on how it was maintained
@@KylePantano exactly. My brother bought his new. He is meticulous when it comes to his maintenance and cleaning his vehicles. He travels for business and his now has over 300,000 miles and still looks and drives like a new car. Garage kept and he has never had any expensive issues with the car other than passenger side window motor had to be replaced about 7 years ago.
the LS430 is a world record holder for reliability. ive got 177k on mine and it runs and drives almost new. buy one of these now, great family car, super comfy and very handsome car imho. the only thing I would bring up is the tilt/telescoping motor for the steering wheel. they fail and get stuck. they can be rebuilt though.
you should check out speed academy's ls 430 series
Hahahaha before I clicked I was laughing because the video is under 7 minutes lol. I'm such a Lexus fanboy now
I Appreciate you just bought one
Funny because EVERYTHING that you mentioned is wrong with my car! Drivers side mirror is shot, radio hasn't worked in years, doors don't lock with remote. Trunk struts are shot. But i still drive it everyday and will drive it anywhere. Less 180K Miles
Wheel bearings roar???
great video, thanks man.
Falling in love with the LS430 each video I watch.
Same here but in the UK the price of petrol is an absolute killer.
I just purchased one recently was wondering if you have any suggestions on replacing the speakers cause the front dash tweeters don't work and idk if it's just a fuze or they both took a dump
You forgot about ECM problem with shift solenoids causing a hard shift at 1st and 2nd gear
never saw a white one
Your terrific, hang in. Critics prove there was cromagnon dating. Best wishes.
Right rear door won't unlock from inside; unlocks from outside.
Great video. I'm thinking of buying one soon.
I have a 2006 with 67k miles and I have intermittent issues with my smart access lock/unlock.
What kind of issues
@@coreyadam6667 my car has a similar issue actually
@@KylePantano well if you figure out what's wrong with yours let me know!
@@coreyadam6667 absolutely. I haven’t really done much with it. Kinda of gave up on it because I need really care for the keyless access.
