THANKS man!
I AM mechanically inclined and I've been driving and maintaining my own 'yota products for 40 years.. Not at all hard to believe that this is a $1000.00+ job at the stealership...
This was exactly what I needed step by step. My car is also the same year and model as in your video so this was more than perfect.
I got my replacement motor on AMAZON Prime for $4.99, had it in three days. everything is now perfect, no leftover screws, no swearing, no broken parts..
Best regards from Indiana
Please post or send me link.
You just saved me a lot of money. Can’t thank you enough. Keep up the good work!
I will try. Thank's for watching!
Great Tutorial! I just replaced the motor on my 2004 Lexus LS430 UL with the easy close door lock actuators. Only difference between the actuators are that the Easy Close version is much bigger. Hardest part about the replacement was reinstalling and lining everything up perfectly. You helped me save $1,000+ from what Lexus Dealer wanted to charge me.
i have this issue with my front passenger door & the easy close & door actuator don't work unless i close manually. switching just the motor fixed both?
@@rickymouse2612 do you have part number. I need to replace front passenger side on my 2005
Where did you get the motor/actuator for the Easy Close version, if you remember. thanks

Thanks so much for this! Amazing step by step tutorial. Just changed the front passenger motor on my '05 LS ultra luxury. It threw me a curveball as the bottom electrical connector didn't actually disconnect, and so I had to do everything with it still attached to the door. Slightly different steps with the ultra luxury, but it worked!
Does the soft-close feature still work with this motor replacement?
I was hoping this would work for the ultra lux as well. Will have to try next week!
@@mechanicalintentions5431 I’ve got an 04 UL i need to do this on. Any luck ?
I have been putting off doing this on my LS430 for so long on my front passenger side door for years. I guess I might as well set a side a day and do it.
Thanks for the video it made the job very easy. the manual calls for several other parts to be removed that you didn't take off. your the man
what a mess???? but you did great such a challenging job, well done!!!

Hi, would this motor fit for my 04 lexus ls430 door actuator as well?
Thanks. Just did mine and this helped a lot. One thing though. I had to tie wrap the unit together as it would pop open when activated. If I had some glue I would have done that instead but the wraps seem to work fine.
The parts you sped Thru is what I really needed to watch you do lol can’t even slow it down to see what you’re actually doing
Speed Academy brought me here an it is glorious! Your cussin is brilliant!
Yeah, that's why I'm here.
Great job, and thank you, for getting those difficult shots.
You went a lot further than I did. I got he assembly out and lubricated it and put it back in. Those little motors have to be timed and I didn't want to go there. Nice job, Congrats!!!
They have to be timed? 🤔
All I did was replace the motor and it started working like it's supposed to, no timing here.....IDK
"Spooky shit what the heck is this" funny as hell. My son told me about your video and indeed help us a lot, thank you and have a nice spooky day.
Sen Pen, free humor at my expense. You are welcome.
I just did this to our '02 LS 430. Lol 😂, it's a bit of a puzzle, especially when I went to put the motor housing back into the plastic bracket etc etc. Trying to get everything lined up properly was a bit of a PITA! But I got it 👍
Thanks for the video
Also thank you so much for posting a great video!!
WOW THAT'S HOW YOU SOUND PROOF A DOOR BMW. WATCH AND LEARN
I had to do this for the rear door locks on my RX300. It was a lot harder to crack open the case with the motor and I needed a tiny RC gear puller to remove the spiral gear on the motor, other than that it went pretty much like your video.
Thank you, have the issue myself and was contemplating doing the job myself... Not anymore buy will be buying the aftermarket parts. Really appreciate your posting. Aloha
Kevin Moore you're welcome. I appreciate the appreciation.
I FOUND IT FOR $5!!! Thanks dude will let you know how it goes.
Great How to video! Saved us $2,000
You Are Super Spectacular!!!! You must be the Batman of the Auto Mechanics industry. Next time you make a video you should probably wear a utility belt and cape!!
Timothy Maxwell I would have to say that is the most humorous comment I have heard so far. Thanks for watching! The cape would probably get stuck in a belt, and suck me in. That is why mechanics don't wear capes.
Speed academy sent me... subbed sir.😊
Never heard of them?

That was really cool. I don’t have to fix anything yet but I like to know how things come apart. it did scare me however when you got the final assembly out of the door. How we’re out ever going to get everything back together in the same position, they were complex echanisms. I’m impressed very cool. I am astounded that the prices quoted to repair these things it’s ridiculous. The Internet will teach us all how to be much smarter.
Piece of crap? That's one of the greatest cars ever made!
Michael Michael Motorcycle ut ooh.. I must have called something a piece of crap again. My mentality states that if I need to work on something, it's a piece of crap. It might even be junk. However, it may not be after I am done with it. Sorry if I offended you. Furthermore, I believe the greatest car ever is new, because I don't have to work on it.
Rust Belt Auto Then you would have no cars to fix and be broke. Be happy you’re working
Spooky shit alright lol. I can’t wait to get my hands into this job coming up.
Any chance you got a part #? Great video.
I do not.
@@RustBeltAuto thanks for letting me know. I can figure it out from here. Really nice job bro! My customer and I thank you.
Good Deal! I wasnt going to try it, but thanks to this video, I will Now!
Sort of a nightmare of a job, but doable. I applaud you working on this junk, I know it's not fun all the time (most of the time)... What did you end up charging this guy (if you don't mind me asking? How many total hours? Or was it just some sort of flat rate? I'm sure he got a much better deal than taking it to Lexus... After all, Lexus charges a shit ton cause the doughnuts, cookies and coffee got to be paid some how... A good honest mechanic like you is hard to come by, I'm sure you stay plenty busy.
I cannot remember what I charged him. It wasn't that bad of a job. First time spooky.
Yeah, first time can be rough and spooky, you're right. Hey, thanks for subbing to my channel by the way, I appreciate that a lot!
I wish i could get a guy like you to fix my lexus ls 430 with the exact same problems.
Just do what this guy did. Hand someone a little 5$ motor and say "fix it". It worked for him.
Does anyone know how long the motor shaft is supposed to be...I see the 10mm and the 22mm for sale. Or does it matter?
" this is some spooky shit" 🤣
You are a genius.
Tilted Angel if I was a genius, I wouldn't be doing this crap. Lol.
Awesome Video, now a stupid question. I followed all instructions and it works except.... in reverse. If I hit "lock", it unlocks, and vice-versa. What did I do wrong? Any suggestions?
Just a guess, but it sounds like you got a motor with reverse polarity. It might be running backwards. Maybe try to turn the two wires for it around? I dunno for sure, but that's a little weird.
@@RustBeltAuto Thanks, I was afraid of that. I was hoping for something else. I will wave a magnet or two over it and see if the does it, if not I'll probably just replace rather than cut into the perfect and stock harness.
@@scottdesposato1222 Magnet won't do anything. You could de-pin the connector, and switch the wires, without cutting any wires too I think.
@@RustBeltAuto I opened the little actuator motor by prying back two clips. I switched the two magnets that were in there. Now it works!
@@scottdesposato1222 I would have never thought such a thing.
Very helpful thanks
This is totally one of those things that I could take apart and complete and then fuck up and put something back together wrong and it would never work properly ever again. It looks complicated in that way.
Welcome to my world. Thanks for watching!
I just did such. Door was locking and unlocking with the switch then I close the door and use the key... it locks and doesn’t unlock, manual unlock doesn’t work so I managed to get back in through the trunk 😂 smh
Brady Frazee curious to see how did you fix this? I heard of similar situation and has the possibility of not aligned with Cylinder lock during the reassembly process
@@bluebalverde3115 when I closed my door the actuator separated. So I taped it together and it still works well! Use duct tape.
Brady Frazee thank you! Mine rolls all my windows down whenever I unlock smh lol
Man you did a great job. I need to replace 1 of my door. Where can I buy motor?
Dude found the thing on Ebay.
nice job I will try in a few days!
I screwed up and put the green tab in the wrong hole now I gotta take it all apart! I had the same reaction when trying to put it back together haha.
THANK YOU, I WILL REPLACE MY REAR DRIVER'S DOOR ACTUATOR. 🫖
You The Man Boss !
I'm no boss. Just working with what I have. If people can figure out what they are supposed to do, they don't need a boss.
I have a 2001 Lexus LS 430, and all four doors need new actuators. Quote to have it replaced was $2k, with $1,600 for the actuators ($400/ea). I purchased the replacement motor that you have shown here, and will try tackling this project.
Can I ask what the technical term for the pick/probe you used to release the wire harnesses?
Brian N it's just an automotive pick and hook set. The set I had was from a Cornwell tool truck. I may have used a regular sized hook tool too.
Thanks!
Your welcome.

OK i know this is an old video but i would like to know how to get this little actuator so i can do mine. Does anyone have a specific name or part number? I am only seeing the whole assembly online. I would like to do exactly what the guy in the video did.

@@RustBeltAuto Was the problem with the car that the door was not closing / you'd shut the door and the door would simply bounce off the car? I'm having this issue on mine now that the door will not latch. So I'm hoping just the motor replacement will work. Can you confirm?
@@DasCayman You probably need to put a screwdriver in the latch, and pull on the handle as if you are opening the door, then move the latch back to the open position with the screwdriver. The latch is probably closed.
thanks brother
lol....easy enough! Now I have to do my ES330.......

There are lot of motors available in ebay and amazon starting with the number
FC-280PC -22125 but the next batch number varies 8CH033 , 71H016 , 63H076
Which one should I order for my LS430 2005 model
I don't know anymore. Good luck!
Mabuchi FC-280PC-22125 with D-cut spindle and not round spindle.
So i did this and it fixed my driver door problem like in this video. But now when I put the actual key into the lock and turn it to lock or unlock, it doesn’t work. But I can still lock with the key fob thou. Just wondering what I did wrong or didn’t do that would cause the actual lock not to lock or unlock with the metal key inside the fob. And since that is the only key hole on the car I really want to get that fixed ASAP because if my battery ever dies then I won’t be able to get in to the car to open the hood.
There is probably a rod that you did not connect.
Oh well I’ll take it back out again tomorrow and check.
@@mjk4378 Take off the door panel, you should see what's up.
@@RustBeltAuto I took it back out and found out that the metal flap that comes from the key hole wasn’t lined up with the white plastic piece that turns with it on the actuator.
@@mjk4378The same thing happened to me. None of the videos cover this problem. The rod sticking out of the key hole has to align with the plastic white wheel on the actuator and click into place before lock will turn.
Thank you for making this video, helped out a lot for me while I am replacing the motor on the rear passenger door on my 2005 ls430. I followed your video as much as possible because there were some differences in my door. After completing the job, everything was working and i tested it about 5 times just locking, unlocking, closing, and opening the door. But then shortly after, the door would stop responding a bit and the actuator would make a jamming sound when trying to lock or unlock. Any suggestions on what it might be? I noticed that even trying to unlock the door manually from the inside, the lock is a bit hard to flip open. Thanks again for the video, Im gonna keep tinkering with this crap tomorrow.
take it all apart. hopefully you will figure it out. My best advice to you.
Yep, Ive took it apart and reassembled several times now and noticed that the part that contains the motor opens up easily after my first time opening it. I glued it shut and that should've done it! Thanks man.@@RustBeltAuto
Cracking that shell open at the end to install the little motor is something you don't see on other videos of people repairing lexus cars that are not ls. I wonder if the ls is the only one you can do this to.I have 2002 ls 430 and i am still scared as hell.....
Brian Lewis just pry it open a little at a time. You will see if it does. I'm always afraid of wrecking junk too, and I don't know why. It's junk. Why be scared?
All my doors lock except drivers. Lock doesnt move unless physically moved. Does that mean it is definitely the motor?
vadim nesen I'm a mechanic. I don't work in definates. Especially when diagnosing things over the phone, or telling people what's wrong over the internet. Other than that, my sources say yes. You can actuate the thing if you find the two wires for power and grounds, and hotwire it if you feel like toasting things. How's that for an answer?
A little confusing answer but thanks anyway
vadim nesen well how about a definate maybe then? Welcome to my world. If I told you anything else, I could be wrong. Doctors don't work with definates either. They are wrong a lot too.
Rust Belt Auto oh ok thanks. Gotcha
My door lock locks all doors but only unlocks my driver door. What does it mean??
@@user-wm7bd6mm9o do your other door locks work?
