    From the octane materials menu you can also choose "remove unused materials" rather than deleting manually, is good for when you have lots of unused materials.

    With the bevel deformer though, if you turn on "use angle" you will not get those weird creases and thus will work just fine (and you also have more control that way)

    nice one ! i do not know if it is a tips, but i found a new one last week, i use to map object with multi material stack on object ( with base color, and alpha material melt on it, without selection tag ) , using simple box mapping , planar etc... so on your diffuse or alpha bitmap texture, simply put a transform node ( no need to changing scale if you already have maped it well with good dimension first ) and it will get your mapping

    Hi! Great video! Tks! I have a technical question... It's about rendering movies... I have a pretty good PC ( i7, SSD, GTX 1070, ect...) But when I render a simple 5 seconds movie in C4D, it needs 127 hours!!! What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance!!

    • @CGShortcuts

      Hey Hugo, are you using Octane or standard c4d renderers?

    • @HugoBossMtl
      @HugoBossMtl 6 років тому

      CG Shortcuts hi CG! Tks for answering so fast! Since I'm new with C4D, I'm using C4D's... But I do have octane. What's your suggestions?

    • @CGShortcuts
      @CGShortcuts  6 років тому +1

      Sounds like you've got your setting up a tad high. I do most of my stuff in Octane these days because I need the speed. Best starting with your settings very low then gradualy put them up to the point you can get away with a decent image. Most of my tutorials are about 4 in depth and 800 samples depending o the scene. Im working on a course for rendering in the standard C4D renderer so hopefuly have that out soon

    • @HugoBossMtl
      @HugoBossMtl 6 років тому

      These are my rendering settings:
      - Output : 1920 x 1080
      - Physical : Depth of field checked and sampling quality at medium
      - Ambient occlusion : at default
      - Global illumination : Samples at medium
      I'm not sure if it's good...

    Hey, my problem is that I cant see objects that well in my working window. Most of the materials from octane render cant be shown in this window. Its just black and thats not cool. I saw a trick where the changed something in the project settings und it wasnt black. I cant remember the video either the trick. Can u hlep me? Thank you!

    • @CGShortcuts

      You can go to the basic tab on any object and change 'use color' to any color you'd like to make it easier to see;)

    I keep getting really random flickering in all of my animations when I render using Octane, am I missing some sort of setting to kill the flicker??

    • @CGShortcuts
      @CGShortcuts  5 років тому

      The only time I ever had flickering was when I had the Ray Epsilon set too high. Try a value of 0.0001. Also make sure your lights are set to bright, this can cause fireflies especially if your materials have normal or bump maps

      If you build a glass shader and dont have smooth checked thats what's going to happen. I had that issue in a project recently and couldnt find anything online about it, so hopefully it'll help other out with the same issue.

    octane works on mac?

    • @CGShortcuts
      @CGShortcuts  6 років тому

      It sure does mate, but you need a CUDA enabled GPU, Macs can be a bit harder to customise than Pcs but it's doable. I switched back to PC for this reason
