Man where have the years gone? I'm 43 now I was just a kid when lethal weapon came out my dad and I were big fans of Mel Gibson he's awesome!! Of course we had already seen Mad Max and that's legendary in itself thank you Australia.
My adult daughter and I rented this. Absolutely loved Chris and Mrs. Claus, the elves, all of it. Bought the dvd the next day. A Christmas tradition added to The Muppet Christmas Carol, The Bishop's Wife, and It's a Wonderful Life. Cheers all. 😀🎄

I saw it, and yeah, if you're expecting a fast paced action/comedy romp then you're going to be disappointed. But if you're looking for a darkly comedic (the movie is played straight, but you can tell they have their tongue firmly in their cheek while doing it) character focused movie that builds to a well earned violent climax, then this movie is for you. All the actors here are fantastic, especially Gibson's disillusioned Santa struggling to make ends meet and Walton Goggins psychopathic hitman. The writing is entertaining, the characters are fun and/or endearing, the pacing is solid, and it's a well done deconstruction of Santa mythos. If you're looking for alternative Christmas movies, then this is a good one to watch. I can absolutely see this gaining a cult following over the years. 4/5

I always thought *A One Horse Open Slay* would be the perfect title for a book about Christmas killings. This movie proves the idea is still a good one for me. I need to get busy writing it.

It sounds like an idea for a saturday night live skit that ran too long, but this looks just weird enough to be interesting. If I was a director Walton Goggins would be in every movie I made.

Critics hate it that’s why I loved it. Mel and Goggins are great. Sick, twisted, violent, sarcastic, dark, and crazy my kind of movie. Not for kiddies.
My only complaint about this movie is that they didn't cast Gary Busey for the Santa Claus, but I do say that Mel Gibson still handled the not so jolly jolly fat man absolutely well.
