The truth is.....this legend mastered the real "Camel Trophy" back in the days when that competition was for real vehicles and real men. Said enough???
Very nicely set up, V8 sounds Mint, hows V8 set up ? exhaust etc, is it 3.5 or 3.9 ?, what ignition system is in there ? wheel arches look right, bumpers look man enough to winch from/to
Cheers mate. It was a stock 3.5 carby, standard ignition, old after market exhaust with designer leaks. 20ltr per 100ks and the power of a 2ltr 4cyl. Fun bus though.
Hi all! I am wondering if you could share your view on the automatic gearbox in this model? I would assume that offroad is not the most exciting with an auto box, perhaps even frustrating? On the other hand, I would imagine that motorway cruising is comfortable and efficient with an auto box. Am I wrong? Do you agree? I am considering getting a 5 door 1995 3.9, but it is automatic and it is my only concern... thanks.
The ZF auto is a generally reliable transmission as I have found from first hand experience (10 years ownership 1990 3.9v8 towing and off road). It is excellent off road. I run 265/75R16 tyres and in almost standard dress, performs exceptionally well. Respect it for what it is and you will be astonished where you can take it. You will need to keep on top of the maintenance.
Mine does not have diff locks but with a good choice of tyre and pressures suitable to the terrain and skilful driving techniques there is not much to stop it, short of comp truck terrain etc. Its perfect for my purposes. I love driving it off road.
