We had a cleaner once. One week a rather nice pair of kitchen scissors suddenly became a similar-looking pair of crappy kitchen scissors. We never decided whether or not this was an accident or her sneakily upgrading her scissors, but we kept her on because she was absolutely stellar at her job and nothing else went missing or got replaced. Take the possibly-bad with the good, sort of thing.
Well, Stephanie, I'm very sorry to hear about that. I don't remember the last time, though, that I had trouble keeping track of my shoes, and there have been times when I've had quite a few pair. Ages ago, I worked in private security. Before that, I was in the Navy. I wish I had understood, then, the vital importance of keeping at least two pair of every pair of shoes you can expect to break a sweat into. You need that so you can wear them on alternate days and give each pair a chance to completely dry out, inside. If I had known that, I would not have had so much trouble with athlete's foot which is a _very_ frustrating condition. But I think the most shoes I ever had were in private security. I had boots for when the weather was cold (two pair), dress shoes for when it was warm (two pair), and cross trainers for my time off (again, two pair). That's six pairs of shoes. Of course, I had to keep track of them, so I had a shoe shelf I had bought at a local big-box mart. _No_ one was gonna make off with any of 'em, because I would've noticed, _instantly._ I, too, have ADHD, though. Months ago, I ordered a couple dressers, and they sat in my closet, in their boxes, until just the last couple weeks before I was finally able to summon the focus and tune out all the distractions long enough to open the boxes and assemble 'em. Hopefully, it won't be _too_ many more months before I manage the same thing with the computer shelf. 🤷♂
