    When I was about 10 yrs old, my mother taught me how to take care of my nails and cuticles. She had the most beautiful hands and nails. Every Sunday evening, she would do my nails and then do her own. She did a lot of typing on a manual typewriter, but you would never have known it. Her nails always were perfection. As I got older, I did my own nails, sometimes together with my mom. When she became too frail and shaky, I took over her weekly manicure. When she passed away, I made sure her hands looked beautiful. I knew it was what she would want.

    I've used a glass file for years prior to using Bona Fide brand. Got my Bona Fide file in 2019 and it's been in my purse ever since. Hands down best file especially for a beginner nail enthusiast. ❤❤ Need to get another to leave with my nail kit at home, so I don't risk leaving it at home.

    I used to buy the cheapy nail files thinking a nail file was a nail file. They used to be all fairly good (by my novice standards). Then the quality started to go downhill. I could only get one filing session from each file. They were also so hard and scratchy. I spotted a glass nail file on Amazon. Wow. The longevity was what attracted me. I bought them (one large, one small), in October 2021. The larger one is just starting to show signs of wear and I use them quite a few times a week (every time I feel a rough bit on my nail). The cuticle pusher intrigues me. I'll have to go find that as well.

    I saw some peel vase reviews saying they did one strip in the center of the nails to have the manicure last a week versus the one to three days so acetone was not needed for removal. Have you tried that or any other ideas for easier removal vs acetone?

    • @SipAndDip
      @SipAndDip  Рік тому +1

      I’m super hesitant on not applying peel base to the whole nail because it “could” be removing layers of the nail with pop off. I’ve tried it and noticed the sidewalls of my nails began peeling so i discontinued. But I absolutely see the appeal!

  • @catslifeandstyle
    @catslifeandstyle 5 місяців тому

    Considering getting this cos as much as I love my dip powder colours the acetone removal is wreaking havoc on my nails!! 🤦‍♀️ Question though if you’re doing a thin line down the middle/dot in the centre, how much do you need to file off at the sides, as I think all the filing hasn’t helped my nails either? Is there anything left on the nail if you do it this way too?

    This is awesome because acetone is one of the few chemicals that soak right thru our skin and into our bloodstream. So, I have hesitated to get into gels or dips because I don't want to soak in 100% acetone for 10-20 minutes. But if I can pop it off.... Even better! Thanks so much!

      Yayyy!! So happy you’re loving it girlfriend! 💕 I have used the mani boss peel base and really enjoyed it! It lasts longer than the Virgo and gem and UNT… but 😭 it started peeling my natural nails so I had to stop. I noticed another brand that lasted longer also had the same effect on my natural nails. BUT if you used it on builder gel, clear dip powder or extensions it would be great because it’ll last longer and not damage your natural nails.

    Do you have tips on protecting clear dip powder underneath peel base, especially during removal (if they don't come off easily on their own, that is)? And do you cap off the free edge with peel base? I assume you wouldn't want to cap off the free edge with top coat when you're completely finished dipping as to not seal it together with your clear dip? Thanks!!

      @courtneyschumann3797 Рік тому +2

      @@maceewichman8892 just from my experience, since I posted that, I’ve tried it and it works! I did a few layers of a sheer pink dip (built an apex too) and then used peel base on top. When I was ready to pop them off, I just filed lightly around the edges and popped them off. Worked great. Only tip would be to not wait much longer than 7-10 mins to let your peel base dry because it will start to peel off before applying your color!

    I put on my Gel Tips. I don’t want to remove Gel Tips every other day or two but I do want to change up what I put on the top of my gel chips, every other day or so. After applying my gel, tips, or tips of choice, I want to add product to the top of my tips like either dip powder or gel polish or whatever I choose to finish off The top of my nails. Whatever I put on the top of my fake nail tips I want to be able to remove easily, so therefore I’m looking for some type of peel off base so I can remove either polish dip powder or acrylic whatever I put on Top of my nail tips. So my question to you is what is the best product for doing this application and how well does it work for removing everything on top of my fake nail???
    UNT, Works really good but it doesn’t seem to stay on top of my fake nail ,even one day!

      “To answer your question, Bona Fide Beauty's Czech Glass Files are highly durable & wear resistant. Glass nail files are a leading technology product in nail care. Bona Fide Beauty's Files are manufactured in The Czech Republic from genuine Czech glass. Czech glass nail files do not tear, corrode or become unsightly with regular use, unlike typical paper files, emery boards or metal files (which can also rust).
      One of the primary advantages of glass nail files is the fact that the glass is permanently etched, therefore, the files don't wear down.
      BFB's Czech Glass Nail Files are highly durable. In the manufacturing process, the files are chemically hardened to ensure they are wear-resistant and retain the integrity of the filing surface after multiple uses. The manufacturer guarantees the file will not wear down with regular use, so you can rest assured. However, please keep in mind that the files are a glass product and should be handled with care (avoid dropping them & try to avoid storing them in a manner that places excessive stress on them).”

      I totally understand your concerns 🫶🏻 I find that the Virgo and Gem’s peel base and UNT peel base are really gentle and do not take off layers of my natural nails. I have tried a few other brands in the past and did notice it was damaging my natural nails so not all peel bases are created equal. I haven’t personally tried a nail strengthener so I can’t share any experiences on that 🫶🏻

    What if I have anxiety and love to pick? Is this base something I can use to protect my nail and still get to peel off my nail polish for anxiety relief?

    • @SipAndDip
      @SipAndDip  Рік тому

      This could a good alternative so you’re not damaging your natural nails with picking them off. Only downfall would be that peel base doesn’t last very long sometimes so it may lift quickly and cause you to want to pick them off which would leave your natural nails unprotected. It’s sort of a double edged sword. But ultimately, if you prepped your manicure to last and skipped peel base, and then picked them off that would remove layers of the natural nail. So in this case, safely popping them off with peel base may work better for you 🫶🏻💖 sending you love!

      For builder gel I would -
      1. prep (push back cuticles, buff nail surface to remove shine, dehydrator, & primer)
      2. Base gel (cure 60 sec)
      3. Builder gel (cure 60 sec between each layer)
      4. Remove tacky layer with rubbing alcohol and file/buff as needed
      5. Top coat (cure 60 sec)
      6. Peel base, let dry
      7. Dip application
      Hope this helps! 🫶🏻💕

    Hi Chelsea, I have a question. At 5:33 +/- you say to apply the peel base on top of the base coat/clear dip layer. That the peel base likes a smoothie layer to start. My question: you did not say to smooth file that dip layer and it is not smooth at all. I didn’t do it because you do not say to file it smooth. But I think I should have. I do not know what is going to happen. I’m waiting for the peel base to dry now. I may just go ahead and file smooth the top and maybe apply another layer of peel base. IDK 😬 Then continue with my Azure Beauty colors. I will do the left hand differently. :D. What say you?? 😊

    • @SipAndDip
      @SipAndDip  2 роки тому +4

      Hey Sharon!
      So peel base likes a smooth surface for a proper pop off so that’s why it’s important to apply top coat on top of your clear dip powder before peel base. So you would follow all of your normal dip powder steps with the clear (dip, dust off, dip dust off, activate, file/shape, etc), including top coat, then apply peel base, then apply color dip powder.
      1. Prep
      2. Clear dip powder application as normal
      3. Top coat
      4. Peel base
      5. Color dip powder application as normal
      Hope this helps! Happy dipping! 🫶🏻

      It will vary for each person depending on their nail chemistry and lifestyle. For instance, the more your hands are exposed to water, the quicker the nails will lift. If you want them to last longer you could try peel base on builder gel or clear dip powder. I know others who have had luck with not putting peel base on the entire enhancement, just the center. Then if the color dip powder pops off too soon, you’ll still have protection underneath. It will just come down to trial and error with experimentation 🥰
