    Great video as always. I just this AM found out about “peel base “ , ordered the UNT , but then heard it’s bad/can hurt natural nails , which is what I have. They are growing out nicely thanks to dip polish and not real long yet, just a modest free edge.
    I don’t understand why people do the clear dip polish first, isn’t that defeating the whole purpose of not having to soak/use acetone (which has been a struggle for me, takes a lot longer than 10 mins despite following all tutorials out there).
    So I guess my question is, has the peel base hurt or negatively affected your natural nails?
    Thanks for your videos, so glad I found you!

      As long as youre gentle with removal then no damage will occurs. The clear below the peel base is a protective layer that says on long term and protects your nails between manicures. This protective layer is filled and rebalanced monthly.

      You will remove the peel base every time you remove your nails. If you're using a protective layer you'll fill and rebalance that as needed usually about once a month.

      Sometimes soaking in warm water or nail oil can help peel base release. Taking an e file carefully around the edges to make sure that seal is broken can also help.

    This was so helpful! I like to do my nails weekly, and been having trouble getting the peel base just right. I tried it with the layer of clear underneath but had a hard time separating the top from the bottom, covering the whole nail, I had one pop off that night and when I’ve tried partial coverage I’ve had better luck but broke a few nails in removal. Do you go all the way to the top free edge of the nail and just avoid the cuticle and the side walls?

    • @SipAndDip
      @SipAndDip  4 роки тому +1

      Jessica Ayers oh no! Sorry to hear you broke a nail 😣 I do bring the peel base to the free edge tip. Personally I feel like that is my “weakest” point. So I’d rather make sure I get the peel base there so when I pop off they don’t tear or break. I do make sure to cap my edges really well with top coat though so I don’t get too much lifting. But if you start to get lots of lifting on your tips then I would adjust your peel base to not go there. Either just wiping it off or not applying it there. 💕 hope that helps!

    Question, after the peel base you continue with normal dip powder application correct?

    • @SipAndDip
      @SipAndDip  4 місяці тому

      Optional but I do like to do 1 layer of dip base and let it dry on top of the peel base. This helps create an even surface and stops the next layer of dip base from drying too fast. So peel base, dip base (let dry), then dip base + dip powder as normal.

  • @SuperGlitterific
    @SuperGlitterific Рік тому

    If I'm applying the peel base over dip powder what would be my next steps after applying the dip powder?

    • @SipAndDip
      @SipAndDip  Рік тому

      So after you do the dip powder, complete it all the way through to the top coat. Then do peel base. Once the peel base is dry then I like to do a layer of base liquid and let it dry. Peel base can make dip liquids dry really fast and uneven so a layer of base liquid (and let dry) can help. It’s totally optional though! Then you apply the base liquid and dip + keep going as usual. 🫶🏻

    • @SipAndDip
      @SipAndDip  Рік тому

      Peel base is totally optional 💖 I use it to switch up manicures often but if you’d like yours to last then definitely skip peel base. The dip powder base coat is what’s needed with the dip powder. The activator is what will harden the dip base + powder for filing. The activator also is needed to help the top coat dry. I hope this helps! Please let me know if I misunderstood 🫶🏻

    • @SipAndDip

      Hi Kristy!! Honestly you can do either! Totally personal preference 💗 if you have longer nails and you’re worried about the dip popping off too early and want to still have something protecting your natural nails, I would try clear! If you have short nails and you’re not too worried about having something protecting your natural nails if the dip pops off early, I would apply the peel base directly on your nail. I opt to not use clear because I don’t really want to fuss with fills and soak offs. I also don’t care for the extra bulk. But totally personal preference on what you need on strength 💗 sorry for the long winded answer 😆

    • @SipAndDip
      @SipAndDip  3 роки тому

      I do still dehydrate my nail my nails and follow my normal prep routine. I like to apply a layer of my dip base liquid on top of the peel base, let that dry, then dip. It’s completely optional but I feel like it gives me a smoother first layer for dipping. Cuticle oil can definitely affect the longevity with peel base. Exposure to water and oil can make the nails pop off/lift faster with peel base. Hope this helps! 💗

    • @SipAndDip

      Hey Tamara!
      So after you “pop” them off, I like to prep like my normal application again. So reshape if needed, push back cuticles, dehydrate the nail and apply peel base. Once you pop off the dip powder it will also take off the peel base so it will need to be reapplied. @@mouseketeer606 I really need to film this! 😆 I actually have tried it a few times but still trying to find what I like the most. I would suggest if you do clear under peel base, to still do a top coat on the clear. I have tried it so far with no top coat and I had trouble getting the peel base to pop off properly.
      So the steps would be -
      Clear dip powder layers
      Activator
      File/buff
      Activator
      Top coat twice
      Peel base (let dry)
      Dip base + color process

      @@SipAndDip I’ll definitely follow your directions. I’ve tried it with no top coat and let me tell you-it don’t budge! Lol. I’m a new dipper & want to change my mani more often but my first few dips lasted 3 weeks +. A good thing but I need to perfect my technique. Thanks for the tips!

    At 10:15 you said to soak them. Soak them in what?

      Hey Lisa! Soak them in pure 100% acetone rather than trying to pry them off and damage your nails 💕
