    I LOVE Mosaic knitting...the look of complicated stranded colourwork, with much less effort! I have made a couple of pairs of socks using this technique and my sister made an awesome jumper for my brother. I'm hoping as this technique becomes more popular, more people will design patterns that use it.

    You read my mind, Staci! I was wondering about the colour jog, so thank you for answering in the video. This pattern looks lovely! I've done a few fair isle projects and I never thought to stretch out the stitches (I usually make the stitch then tug on the float so it's looser) when changing colours. I'll have to try it out on the sock I'm working on.

    Hi Staci! Another fantastic tutorial for a pattern that I can't wait to knit. I just wanted to share that around 17:15 in the video, you said that you put your cowl in the dryer on the spin cycle to get out the excess water after blocking, but I'm pretty sure you meant to say the washer. I just didn't anyone to try drying their cowl accidentally; a felted cowl may not be the desired outcome ;)

    @lucylu4968 8 років тому

    Thanks so much Stacy. As usual your tutorials are wonderful.
    I looked at the pattern after i watched you and i found a couple of things.
    The most important i things i think is how you slip stitches. I didn't see anywhere where it said knit purl wise. Also, it doesn't say to slip separate or together. For example if i remember where it said slip 3, you slipped two together and then one. How did you know to do this? I might have missed it on the pattern though! Also the start says start round 3 with knit one row, i think that would be round 5.
    Thanks again, another pattern i would not be able to do without you!

    Hi stacy
    Love this pattern and tutorial. Thank you. My question is on slipping the stitches. In the pattern it says to slip with yarn in back, so do we slip knitwise or pearlwise

    • @verypinkknits
      @verypinkknits  8 років тому

      +Donna Messana - as a rule of thumb, you always want to slip purlwise unless the pattern tells you otherwise. You can slip purlwise with the yarn in back.

    • @verypinkknits
      @verypinkknits  7 років тому +2

      Karen1Nicola - slipping the stitch as-if-to-knit actually twists the stitch...slipping it purlwise is the way to leave it as it is. So always slip purlwise unless the pattern tells you otherwise.

  • @denisenelson851
    @denisenelson851 8 років тому

    Hi Staci. I'm about halfway through Tesserino Cowl and I really love it. I used Cascade Venezia which is a wool/silk blend. The edges are folded over and it is curling. I'm not a tight knitter, so I'm praying the whole time that this will all work out after blocking. What do you think?

    • @verypinkknits
      @verypinkknits  8 років тому

      You can try applying some steam from a steam iron (don't press down), and stretching the whole thing out to see if that stops the curling. If that doesn't work, it probably means that your gauge is a bit looser in garter stitch than it is in the stitch pattern - so using a smaller needle size for the garter stitch will fix that.

    • @denisenelson851
      @denisenelson851 8 років тому

      Thanks Staci. I believe you are correct about the gauge. I have made other items where the garter edge has folded over. Thanks for the solution!

    • @verypinkknits

    Nice pattern although it kinda annoys me that the back of the work will be showing when double wrapped cause that is the case right? On another matter I was wondering if you have any tutorials on how to knit boarders on things like how to make stitches along an uneven edge or how to pick up stitches under the sleeves when doing a topdown raglan - always getting annoyed trying to make it look good :)
    Lastly i gotta say i love your tutorials

    • @verypinkknits

      Iben Meiner - if you click through to my website (link in the video description field) I have a photo there of the cowl double-wrapped, no wrong side showing. Sorry, I don't have a video on what you're describing, but the technique of picking up stitches for a border is the same regardless of the fabric you're picking up from.

  • @intuneknitter4220

    Dear Staci,
    I think this would make a very good double knitted project. From a designers standpoint, is this style of knitting and double knitting comparable in terms of amount of yarn necessary?
    I'm finally to the point where I am a confident enough knitter that I am altering patterns and someday hope to be a designer myself :D
    Thanks,
    Ann

    • @verypinkknits
      @verypinkknits  8 років тому

      +In Tune Knitter - it's been a while since I've worked a double knitting project...I think modifying this pattern would be tricky, since double knitting involves slipping stitches, and this stitch pattern does, too. Making this same cowl in double knitting would require twice the amount of yarn, since you're essentially knitting a tube. Those are my initial thoughts - good luck!

  • @cyndihiggins1993
    @cyndihiggins1993 7 років тому

    Hi Staci - I was considering this pattern as a good way to work on my Portuguese Knitting skills. Do you think this would translate well to do so? I like the idea of all purling in the round....quick and easy! But not sure how to slip the stitches since the yarn is coming from the front. (Pattern is knit all rows slipping purlwise w/ yarn in back) Thanks for any advice!

    • @verypinkknits
      @verypinkknits  7 років тому

      You'll still slip the stitches as if to purl (so you don't twist the stitch), and just keep the yarn carried on the purl-side of the slipped stitches.

    I am planning to make this for a friend that has been a huge help to me recently. However, the yarn mentioned is no longer available. What is the next best option to use? I know you said this yarn is the best because of the twist. I often use merino wool that is made by cascade 220 super wash, is that a good choice? I am new to using better quality yarns.

    Can you do a tutorial that shows how you knit in the second color yarn? I am a right handed thrower. I have watched your right handed flick/continental video, but that doesn't show how you add in the second yarn either.

    • @verypinkknits
      @verypinkknits  8 років тому +2

      To add the second color - just pick up the second color and start knitting with it, leaving the working yarn in the other color still hanging off the work. Just put your needle in like you're going to knit, loop the new color around that needle, and pull the stitch through in the new color. Leave yourself about a 6" tail in the new color so you can weave in the end later.

      Cora Dalton, I just checked my inbox and even though I got the error message when I tried entering my email address on their site, the pattern was still delivered to me and I was able to download the pdf file.
      Hopefully this happens for you as well.

    Hi Stacy would I be able to turn this pattern into a blanket as well?

    • @verypinkknits
      @verypinkknits  8 років тому

      +Brittany morris - I suppose you could turn the stitch combo into a blanket, but you'll need to alter every-other row to be a wrong side row. Since this cowl is knit in-the-round, every round is a right side row.

  • @averyhollon810
    @averyhollon810 8 років тому

    ok I am a little confused.
    like for instance rounds 7-8 do you repeat the pattern twice? or just once

    • @verypinkknits
      @verypinkknits  8 років тому

      +Avery Hollon - work straight through all 12 rounds, then start back at round 1 again to repeat through all 12 rounds again, 8 times total.

      FYI, I found a very similar cowl on Ravelry, called Mod Cowl designed by Elli McHugh. I think it's the same, really.

    • @verypinkknits

      +Wari Ari - just pick up the second color, and start knitting with it. After it is attached, you can leave it attached, as I demonstrate in the video.
