Nice tutorial. The only thing I'd add is to check that the lights work right after you've reconnected them, and not after you've spent 20 minutes putting everything back together.
I'm going to have to do this on my better half's 2011 Accord. Thanks Honda for making what should be a simple, basic maintenance and safety item replacement way more complicated than it needs to be.
Look in owners manual on the lights section, it tells you how to replace the bulbs without the need of taking the bumper and headlight off, it’s easy and takes less than 15 min.
Sara Alvarez Right I used to have a mustang and all you had todo it remove some long metal clips from the top of the light assembly and that was it, you didn’t have to remove anything else
Great Video. My Honda lights are so bad but my fear of removing the bumper was too much for me to replace them. Now I see that it's a relatively easy job and I am anxious to get her done. God Bless!
Great help! I would echo what previous comments mentioned about having plenty of replacement clips readily available. I broke 90%. Luckily I had plenty on hand. Thanks for this video. Super helpful. 30-45 min job. Took 5-8yrs off the look of my car.
@@TheCarterEffect Doesn’t mean Honda did something right. Just means that Ford copied a bad idea. Look at all these steps just to replace a headlight. Honda even acknowledged it in the 2013 and above models, making it significantly more simple.
JUST SO YOU ALL KNOW, YOU DO NOT HAVE TO DO A SINGLE BIT OF THIS. 1. Turn your wheel all the way to the outside, depending on which light you're servicing. 2. Use a putty knife or flat head to pop out the plastic pins holding the plastic underside of the wheel well 3. Inside the now open wheel well, there are inserts for the head light, brights AND blinkers, they can all be removed, replaced AND reimserted from the bottom of the car. The pins aren't even necessary to keep the plastic in the wheel well in place, but are helpful in making sure. This takes no more than 15 minutes, but this video is according to Honda's handbook and exactly why it's listed as a 2.5 hour job in the manual. They'd charge you $250-$315 for this, but it takes $15 bucks for the headlight and 15 minutes of time! Learn to work on your car, it'll save you thousands and it's fun!
Finally someone realized how to do it the right way… I nearly fell for this video until I was flipping through the owners manual to see if it tells you
Bro if it takes you 2.5 hours to do it like it’s done in this video you don’t need to be touching anything on a car this method takes 30 minutes tops lol and that’s if you take your time with it
Look in owners manual on the lights section, it tells you how to replace the bulbs without the need of taking the bumper and headlight off, it’s easy and takes less than 15 min. Don’t listen to this video. Also use wd40 if the lights are hard to twist off.

Great video. But, like everyone else on this thread, I cannot fathom the idiocy at Honda to design headlight assemblies that require front bumper disassembly just to replace headlight bulbs. Our Camry is easy. I think that this might be my last Honda purchase.
This is probably way to late but just for future projects you can access the low beam and high beam bulbs threw the wheel well. The only think you have to remove is the fender liner and take the wheel off gives you more room but is not necessary👍

I’m doing a 2008 EX-L right now, and I don’t think any of this has ever been touched lmao. Almost every single clip either wouldn’t work properly or broke.
You casually mention the need to adjust the new headlight, please explain in more detail, because obviously with this complicated of a replacement, there's no adjusting the headlight once installed right?
Before removing your headlights, park on flat ground 25 feet from a wall. Mark the wall where the hot spots of the beams hit with tape. After installing the new assemblies but before putting the bumper back on, park the car in the same spot and repeat removing and adjusting the aim until it's the same as before. Then finish up. Or, be a repair shop and use your mechanical aiming kit.
You can adjust the beam with a screwdriver, no need to remove anything. There’s a hole right on top of the bolt that has teeth like spikes that you can insert and rotate with screwdriver
Great video, but one suggestion. Around the 5 minute mark in the video, you'll see you have to work the lens a bit to get it off and then the same thing when you reinstall. Take 2 minutes and remove the black plastic piece the runs the length of the front bumper. It's two bolts, same size as the ones for the lens, and a few clips that you depress with a flat screw driver. Having it out of the way makes things much easier for very little effort.

The fact that you can't simply replace the plastic covers is evidence that manufacturers are trying to make it more and more difficult for people to easily and inexpensively maintain and repair their vehicles.
If you open the plastic fender you can reach up in there and get to the bulb, not easy but easier than taking all that apart , gezz I dont think so , 2010 honda accord,
This is for replacing the entire headlight assembly when the plastic gets old and yellowed, not only replacing a bulb. This company sells them. This is also a safety issue. When the lens is hazy the bulbs won't project as well onto the road and your vision will be compromised at night... Another reason to replace the entire headlight assemblies is if they get broken or damaged.
Imagine being with your family on the road and your light goes out. My 2011 Toyota takes 5 min. To change the bulb. This is outrageous. You would have to get a hotel for the night and in the morning drive it to a garage and have this done. So you are looking at Hotel bill breakfast at Restaurant. Hundreds of dollars for a light bulb change. I would never buy a Honda. This is not right.
There’s an easier way of changing this, no bumper nor headlight needed to be removed, high beams can be changed right from under the hood and low beams from the wheel well, you can reach it easily and takes less than 5 -10 min
it's so ridiculous that a bumper needs to come off just to put lights in. Total waste of time and money at the mechanic. A $60 job turns into a $200 job for nothing.

Just did this repair and I would like to add that the headlights come out incredibly easier if you remove the bracket from the headlight prior to removing the light itself.
Anyone have a part number for that long plastic bracket that gets removed with the headlight? Repairing deer damaged light and when I pulled the light the bracket was in three pieces. Googled it every way I can think of and different brackets come up.

+Nathaniel D. Our headlights come with a lifetime warranty that include coverage from hazing or oxidizing headlights! You can check them out by clicking this link: www.1aauto.com/2008-12-honda-accord-headlight-pair/i/1alhp00644?UA-cam&CTA+Comment&NYIkdopFc
I need to change out the passanger's side one but it looks like it's way to much work and I don't even have the tools to do so, it might be expensive to get it done but just might be what I'll do instead.
All these people thinking you have to do this just to replace the bulbs, this is showing how to replace the headlight assembly’s
Well looks like im not doing sh&% else this saturday.. thankyou honda engineers!
I have a 2011 Honda accord sedan and my ABS and Traction control lights is on. Do you have any idea what it could be
Is your wheel hub on sometime they can wear out the sensor
Geez after seeing a guy pull off a Porsche headlight with a toilet plunger and thought that was a design flaw after seeing this I was so mistaken
Insane ! Just buy a new f..King car to replace the headlight 👁️
How do you know if you need to adjust the aim, 6:27, before putting it back on the car?
thanks, but that headlight don't need replacement but just a polish and it would be like new again
Annnd I just ordered a pair from your website. Thank you for making it easy! Wish me luck on delivery day. I'm with the other folks who have commented how much they despise this poor design and can't stand how many steps go into the remedy. I'm still waiting for the end of the crappy plastic and the return to the glass housing.

+Christan Orduna Thanks for checking us out! 1AAuto.com
So if I want to replace a bulb I would have to do all this??? Holy!! 😅
Has anyone try order headlights from this company
I just did this today. It was definitely challenging. I wish I had a lift too.
Would’ve been easier if you checked the owners manual. There’s an easy way of doing this without taking bumper and headlight off
You may have an extra 5-8 clips to remove from the bottom of the bumper connecting to the skid plate (if optioned).
I found this out the hard way when I went to pull the bumper and broke those clips out
Anyone know if they sell just the plastic lens cover?
Seems u have to get an entire headlight assembly for when they get cloudy.
Seems crazy that just the lens can't be replaced
+@Bubbles99718 At this time we are selling the complete assembly.
Thanks for the very detailed video! Hubby and I now know that we need to take my car to the dealership so they can install the headlight assembly.😅
Couldn’t you just make a template of your old lights and place them on your new ones to get where your lights go as to not blind anybody? I mean, yes measure but maybe better chance of getting it right the first time?
Anyone catch that he clipped right bumper clips on bottom how he clipped the bumper over, instead of under right mud flap front. Wrong order.
His right is under the flap, his left is over the flap as it should be.
How long did it take you in total to complete the replacement?
Fml I thought I could do this myself. Bought the one bulb I need to change…Gonna have to pay someone mega bucks to do it for me.
Thank you.
I was going to attempt this myself, but now I know there isn't enough gin in the world to persuade me to.
Part number for connectors/ wiring? 2012
This is waaaay too much! lol. Great video though!
Lol "Get the clips off, they might break and you'll have to replace them." Wtf Honda
good video but should have commented and shown that you are supposed to replace the "test" bulbs the assembly comes with...
