Roger's bass tone is so perfect here, and Rick's organ work is beautiful.

@@_Ziskey_ Dave has said in interviews that he in fact played the bass in some of Floyd’s iconic songs. He also states he was the one who would tune Rogers guitars. He said that he hated how Roger didn’t want to go deeper in being a good bass guitarist.

Absolutely, my first Floyd album was Ummagumma in 1969. Incredible stuff made in the pre superstar era that only true fans know about.
This song has always been among my favorites, quite good version.
Many masterpieces like this one have been ignored even by PF themselves after the huge success of DSOM.
I wonder if Gilmour will resurrect some of the pre-1973 material for future gigs like he has with "Fat Old Sun"
Nick Mason and his band Saucerful of Secrets would like to have a word with you- they mostly focus on Syd era material, but still I had a smile eight lanes wide when they went into See Emily Play

No matter what horrible thing that I've endured in my (xx)yrs, I will always consider myself one of the luckiest people to have ever lived on this planet.
And I owe a LOT of that to Pink Floyd. Nearly every major event in my life has had this band/its music there to comfort me or add splendor. TIME taught me how to use it, I was maybe 8yo the first time I heard it, really LISTENED to it. Because of them, every tale I tell my grandkids, it often has this band attached.
So blessed to have had them in my life from the start, to be able to see them live, to have nearly all of their albums original cut vinyl...for EVER grateful to you guys, all the others that have come and gone or featured on a tune: THANK YOU for adding more value to my precious TIME. My music teacher says she loves pink floyd! she will be 90 this year! God bless her,She told me when i was young they were about the only group that left any spaces in the music and still concentrated on ACTUAL PARTS instead of filling the stereo space with a constant barrage!

Even though Syd Barrett was a genius and I love the stuff they did with him, this Pink Floyd definitely developed a sound and energy that was totally distinctive.

They need to forget the past and do at least one more show together, but unfortunately David shut all those ideas down, most people think it was both Gilmour and Waters but it was really only Gilmour Waters said he wouldn't mind and that he'd like to but Gilmour refuses to do another show because he's too stuck in the past

Nick Mason put on the best show out of the 3 I saw live.
@alice_the_madd if you knew what waters did to Rick, you might understand David's side. The Final Cut was supposed to be their (his) swan song. Waters wanted to disband the group after, and David and Nick said no. Rick wasn't asked because Water's had fired him, and he wasn't actually part of the band by then. It goes on from there...

I was lucky enough to see Pink Floyd 9 times, 1975-1994. It took some work to get to some of them!
That first overnight wait in line , April 1975 at the Sear's ticketron in St. David's, Pa., on the Mainline. There were about 10 of us on a Friday night queing at one of the entrances...at 2 AM, a van rolls up, and two guys pull a half empty keg of beer out from a party that had just ended...
" Anybody want a beer?!"
We hid that keg behind an adjacent wall....

When me and my friends started smoking weed in highschool, this was our anthem. Played with the first joint, and it's hiiigh time.
Floyd has evolved in many different and wonderful ways over their career, but early 70's jam band Floyd was a special incarnation.

Living in the Bay Area at the time I was lucky enough to see this when it was originally broadcast of KQED, the local PBS channel.
It’s over 30 years now since I first heard them as a teenager. They were my very own private world coming through the earphones on my Walkman and the world outside didn’t matter to me. The nights of wonder... I do miss those days.

I'd love to meet the 4 dozen or so people who gave this clip a down vote and ask them what they expected and why they don't like it. This is the Floyd spreading their wings, finding their groove and figuring out what they should do without the specter of Syd Barrett hanging on to them. It's the sound of a band firing on all cylinders and it is so damn good.

You could tell this was a transitional period for them. Still good music.A bit of Saucer, still developing into their sound. Nick's drum fill at 3:20 sounds like a bunch of tennis shoes tumbling in a dryer - absolutely classic.
