Princess Margaret Rose Countess of Snowdon, CI, GCVO, CD (Margaret Rose; 21 August 1930 - 9 February 2002) was the younger daughter of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, and the only sibling of Queen Elizabeth II. She spent much of her childhood with her parents and sister. Her life changed dramatically at the age of six, when her paternal uncle, King Edward VIII, abdicated to marry divorcée Wallis Simpson. Margaret's father became king, and her sister became heir presumptive, with Margaret second in line to the throne. During the Second World War, the two sisters stayed at Windsor Castle despite suggestions to evacuate them to Canada. During the war years, Margaret was considered too young to perform any official duties and instead continued her education.
If she married Peter, she'd have to give up the comfort of her Royal Salary. The money was more important than love. She partied like a rock star. Was said to be rude and arrogant. Tony used to leave nasty notes in her books and places she'd find in private.
She saw what it did to her uncle and she also didn't want to lose her sister, the Queen in the process. It happens in many families - not just royal ones. Give it all up for love and if it doesn't work out; lose everything - it's not like she could have returned to her original life if the marriage didn't work. That's a lot to give up for a man your family doesn't like.
@@AskMiko She wasn't asked to give it all up. She coudl have retained her title and her work, and married Peter.. but she would have been out of the succession

A little pronunciation mistake for "Les Jolies Eaux", it is "Lay-Jolee-Zo" rather than "Lay-Jolee-O". As you can see, the s at the end of "jolies" is carried over to produce the "z" sound linked to "eau", because "eau" starts with a vowel! This happens a lot in French.
Yup it’s called a liaison . You connect the consonant end of a word to a vowel beginning of the next word. But of course, like most things in French, there are exceptions.

Truth is if Princess Margaret chose to marry Peter Townsend none of this would've happened. Everybody's lives in the Royal Family can be easier. Even if she had to give up her titles because Peter is a divorcee it doesn't matter because Margaret is less likely to succeed to the throne.
Too bad we never get even proper scenes of Margaret as a mother!! I think more people will sympathize with her instead of the Poor Margaret Spare Problems Trope once again

I also hate when I see the Queen on the show getting slammed and blasted I also doubt Marget treated Elizabeth like that on the show sure there probably jealousy and frustration but it seem like Marget hates Elizabeth on the show!
I preferred Margaret over her sister Elizabeth every day of the week!.., Margaret had a HEART she was not cold like her sister!!!.., Margaret was "STUNINGLY " Beautiful!
Eh, she had a good personality but she was only attractive compared to the rest of her family. Stunningly beautiful isn't the word I'd use for her. She isn't at par with any top Hollywood actress of her time. Compare her with Vivian Leigh who actually was stunningly beautiful, for example.
But when love doesn’t come you just long for it, you think about it because you want it, and therefore you dream about it even though some people will tell you "don’t need love to be happy", but you can’t help but think about it and want it even more. You can finally have it like Princess Margot, live it, ad then when it’s brutally taken away from you, you just want to find it again, re-experience it; and therefore you desperately try to recreate this love that you’ve lost, you try to get it back with someone else but it just feels different and not fully right, you might settle anyways but something will feel 'empty' whether you want to admit it or not; however, most of the time, even trying to recreate that love, trying to find it again, never works because you can never get this unique thing that you lost again.
@@imagicgolem the love that you speak of is youthful and ideal. Addictive. You become more practical as beauty and lust wanes. When you have had your heart broken, in time it no longer is about that heady, passionate feeling. It becomes more about who gets me, respect, understanding, comfort. Dare I say on one hand, who can help pay the bills, raise chicken or kids or on the other hand can have sex and conversation and still be friends and have mutual admiration. It's still love (especially for one's self) just different from how it's all been portrayed and without all that messy stuff.
I'm always bothered how Peter Townsend no longer came up. He was heavily implied though when Margaret warns them about letting Charles and Diana marry and forbidding him to marry Camilla. I actually just continued watching the crown because i want to see all the scenes that princess Margaret was involved.
Her father died of smoking induced lung cancer at age 56, so she smoked herself to death as well.
She died from a stroke btw
Anita Rani you need your own show
Helena done agreat job i felt so sorry for Princess Magaret as her sister Elizabeth got all the attention after their father died and Margaret was forgotten....
How many time this family can do the same mistake again and again - Princess Margaret
They fixed the mistake and received Megan.
The way she says "cigarettes"
@@glen7318 that’s not true. She would forfeit income, status and was required to leave the Country.
As soon as Lucy-Lindsay Hogg was mentioned my mind immediately said "The Thing"
Dear lord, just listen to the damn story and stop critiquing the presenter's appearance. She's not performing just narrating. Hell she could be narrating from inside a closet or naked in the balcony, who cares, just LISTEN TO THE STORY. Or dont. But just shut up about telling her to fix herself.
People are crazy. Her shirt isn't even that bad.

Oui.
Quite sure the mispronunciation had zero impact of the remainder of the story... on s'en fout ?
@@AskMiko You must be fun at parties. All I'm doing is giving the person and all the people who will read my comment a tip on how to pronounce it right. This can only help them. Never did I say it was an issue in the video, I even showed the humility of my comment by saying "a LITTLE mistake". Yet still here you are, trying to twist my words into something pretending to be more impactful. You had no reason to say "nobody cares", given the fair amount of likes my comment got.
Elle a déjà l'air de galerer pour prononcer l'anglais avec toutes ses mimiques ridicules, on va pas trop lui en demander pour la langue de Molière
Only if Diana learn the whole story before marrying Charles...
If only... but Diana nearly called the wedding off as she knew Charles was seeing Camilla even before she got married I blame the Queen she should have stepped in immediately.
Io ho una passione smisurata per la Principessa Margaret
❤
Can this woman not be so much on the screen? We want more Crown footage and pictures of Margaret
Would it be possible to turn on closed captions please? They are not enabled. I’d like to watch these without sound and some folks need it. Thank you!
"There was a time when the men I loved simply left me for other women, but now they leave me for church" 😂😂🤣🤣 so funny. " I am ready for a new chapter, without men! Without cigarettes" she complained. " Love is a tender kiss for many, for me she save a sharpest x
I loved her
Why is the narrators shirt falling off?
The narrator is so pleasant, but who picked the outfit?
I'm guessing maybe a blind man in a dark room. It's hideous !!
She is a gorgeous woman but yes, the shirt is unfortunate. It does nothing for her. Maybe she wore it to not only show off her body but to engage ppl in the comments? If that is the case, it worked. I find it annoying and want to tell her to button one more button.
I find it tacky when ppl do vids in their bedroom. Even if it is a really nice bedroom like this. If she has such a lovely bdrm what does the rest of the house look like? She must have a nice living/dining room area? Even studio apts have an area that is not a bedroom
Agree. Supposed to be artful but just looks silly.
She looks like Megan

No it was The coronation that was broadcasted.

I’m sorry - I couldn’t concentrate on what she was saying because I am wondering who told the narrator “yeah, the shirt is fine...”
You have forgotten that one particular was not gossip. Margret's sister blocked her marriage to Townsend. Indeed, she blocked Charles's marriage to the love of his life, Camilla. The queen--Lizzy, as I call her--was a WICKED WITCH.
@@ericrobertson3145 wasn't Margaret actually allowed to marry Townsend with the caveat she would have to give up her royal lifestyle if she did
And she chose her royal lifestyle instead over Townsend
😂😂😂😂😉
@@ericrobertson3145 You are wrong and misinformed, the Royals have regulations and protocols that perhaps for Us is hard to understand.
@@rosecanjura9799 I understand when the Queen's sister asks if she can't take on any official jobs and is told that because she is below the ranks of sixth in line and her sister - Lizzie the wicked witch -wont just take some advice from her sister behind closed doors, that Lizzie the wicked witch doesn't trust Margaret the Good witch. She certainly didn't try to trust her eldest son. If even half of the betrayal of her attitude towards Charles is correct in the show she was called aloof and to the point of cruelty and wickedness of course she's a witch so she had to be wicked since she was cruel and cold. In other words whatever their tradition they certainly aren't based on love caring and empathy. They're based on honor and loyalty to a code no human should have to been to.
interesting presentation by princess meghan!
Maybe one of the reasons they left the palace...to pursue a career... 🤭🤭🤭

Perhaps Margaret's tragedy was one of the reasons why Harry and Meghan left

Maybe a little, but more likely his own MOTHER.
I’m pretty sure it was mainly the naked racism from the tabloids plus the trauma Harry experienced when his mother was harassed. And frankly good for them for doing what they needed to stay sane and healthy.
@@pazelemental Harry and Meghan wanted to no longer be part of the Royal family. They wanted to have a normal life.

Truth is if Princess Margaret chose to marry Peter Townsend none of this would've happened. Everybody's lives in the Royal Family can be easier.
Even if she had to give up her titles because Peter is a divorcee it doesn't matter because Margaret is less likely to succeed to the throne.
For a Moment i thought her Royal Highness the Duchess of Sussex is moderating😂
Who else watches this to hear her accent
Her kids seem really nice, I wonder what they think of their Mother's portrayal?
Too bad we never get even proper scenes of Margaret as a mother!! I think more people will sympathize with her instead of the Poor Margaret Spare Problems Trope once again
It seems to me that you barely see them during Margaret's birthday, when she screams and leaves the table.
All Mustique bought with british tax
The plot of land was a gift from Lord Glenconner.
Is it me or is the presenter's outfit is not appropriate for the topic she is talking about
I read that Princess Victoria Melita of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha got divorced in 1901, so Princess Margaret’s divorce did not come after Anne de Cleve’s!
Of a senior British royal was the phrase, if iirc

So did George I....
@@glen7318 He got divorced before he become King.
I remember watching a documentary about the royals family and I love the Queen as an American and i think she doesn't get enough credit at all! Princess Marget life is sad because she couldn't have her true love Peter but was she willing to give up all the perks of being a royal? I also hate when I see the Queen on the show getting slammed and blasted I also doubt Marget treated Elizabeth like that on the show sure there probably jealousy and frustration but it seem like Marget hates Elizabeth on the show!
I think the delivery of this tonally deaf
The woman is dead for 17 years. Plus she was a stock up royal. Nothing to feel bad about
There are few women who can't get the "right" man for them and thinks they're unlucky. But did they ever think that they're the reason?
I preferred Margaret over her sister Elizabeth every day of the week!.., Margaret had a HEART she was not cold like her sister!!!.., Margaret was "STUNINGLY " Beautiful!
Oh really? I thought unlike her sister Margaret was bloody arrogant and rude.
Eh, she had a good personality but she was only attractive compared to the rest of her family. Stunningly beautiful isn't the word I'd use for her. She isn't at par with any top Hollywood actress of her time. Compare her with Vivian Leigh who actually was stunningly beautiful, for example.
She got around
But we need subtitles :( English accent is difficult to understand sometimes
woa cool
For a royal she had a very unhealthy lifestyle.
neither nor not neither or but i lved her story ...... a bottle of vodka a day starting at 11 am plus top ups
If true, how can a woman be so obsessed on having a man?
Love comes, or doesn’t 🤷🏼♀️
Somebody hasn't had any experience with unrequited love I see. Lucky you!
So you think installing a studio in your bedroom is social distancing
Who's the lady narrating?
I'm always bothered how Peter Townsend no longer came up. He was heavily implied though when Margaret warns them about letting Charles and Diana marry and forbidding him to marry Camilla. Of course, the Queen will never own up to it because she knows how badly she fucked up. She only responds through her actions by allowing Charles to finally marry Camilla after so much damage and Harry finally marrying Meghan.
Joan Rivers: My husband thinks the Royal Family are good looking, he's English, do you think they're good looking?
The Royal Family? A bunch of dogs. Can we talk, a bunch of dogs? Go outside, call their names, Queenie, Duke and Prince and see what comes running along. And the worst is the sister. The sister. Anne. Oh my God is that a horse!
