    Etsy shop for chart bundle www.etsy.com/FiberFoxStudios/...
    Welcome to Mosaic Monday!
    In this tutorial I will teach you how to crochet this eye catching Mosaic design. This pattern is worked in a MULTIPLE of 20 + 5.
    THE CHART FOR THIS PATTERN IS PART OF A 10 CHART BUNDLE. This tutorial is for Version #8. All versions of this design work together to create a large project such as a rug or blanket. The chart bundle is in my Etsy shop which you can find here: CHARTS WILL BE ON ETSY TOMORROW 8/11/20 AND I WILL UPDATE THE LINK.
    total of 23 charts showing 10 variations of this design and how to work additional repeats.
    www.etsy.com/FiberFoxStudios/...
    You DO NOT need the chart to do this tutorial, every row is shown in the tutorial. However, your purchase does help support my channel and is very appreciated! The chart is available for those who wish to purchase it instead of following the tutorial here on UA-cam. The file contains both the single repeat taught here in this video and the additional repeats for those who want to continue for multiple repeats of the pattern. NOTE: Ravelry no longer accepts chart only uploads so unfortunately I can only utilize my Etsy shop at this time.
    Mosaic crochet is great for all skill levels and can be used to create many different things such as blankets, pillows, purses/bags, totes and garments. You can crochet these patterns in any combination you would like or just choose one and make and entire project with the same design. The result will be an eye catching, geometric design that is unisex and versatile.
    Suggested starting chains for various projects - counts include +5 at end:
    Baby blanket: 105 to 125 chains depending on yarn size used
    Throw blanket : 165 chains, yarn size will affect total width and the number of repeats is up to you and will determine total length
    Tote or Throw Pillow: 45 chains to 65 chains depending on total desired size of tote/pillow
    Makeup or Notions bag: 25 to 45 chains
    Scarf: 25 to 45 chains depending on yarn size used and desired width. I recommend size 3 light weight yarn or smaller for wearables. This stitch out will have you work the pattern in the width of the scarf moving up additional rows to create the total length.
    You can create any project you like from Mosaic Crochet, these are just a few suggestions!
    HOOK SIZE: I am using a 4.5 mm hook in this tutorial. I recommend using the below hook sizes depending on yarn used:
    3 DK yarn : 3.5mm to 4.5mm
    Size 4 Medium/worsted weight: 5mm to 5.5mm.
    Mixing 3 & 4 weight: 4mm to 4.5mm
    THE YARN: I'm using size DK/3 yarn, any brand will work as well as any size. I love using DK weight yarn for Mosaics...If you are looking for some new yarns to try, check out Deramores! They have a huge selection of all kinds of yarn! And if you want to save $5.00 on your first order you can use this link to check out their yarns: i.refs.cc/jQr71X4p?smile_ref=e...
    Note on mixing yarn sizes 3 (DK) & Size 4 (Medium Worsted weight): THE TRICK TO MIXING YARN SIZES IS JUST KEEPING YOUR TENSION EVEN AND USING THE SMALLEST SIZE HOOK RECOMMENDED FOR THE SMALLER YARN! You can use any yarn size you like and can use yarn that is all the same size, you do not have to mix yarn sizes.
    To begin your project you will chain in multiples of 20 plus 5 at the end. You will skip the first chain and begin working in the second chain from the hook, ending up with an odd number of stitches. EXAMPLE: I chained 45 and had 44 stitches at the end of row 1.
    Stitches used in this project: Back Loop Single Crochet and Front Loop Double Crochet (drop down double crochet as I like to call it).

As I was watching I thought about needing to write down each row and realized that is exactly what a chart would look like!! My knowledge of charts is very minimal. This really helped me to understand them better. Thank you so much. Now I could get your charts and wouldn't be as intimidated to follow them.

I personally prefer to weave and knot the ends like what you are doing because double borders are a lot of work. 🤣 just wanted to mention since you are new to it! 💙💙

      You have a few options, you can knot them all, sew them in a bit and clip excess which I show in this super old video 😅: ua-cam.com/video/qKVNtF4hBpw/v-deo.html
      Or you can do an enclosed border also known as an envelope border or a double enclosed border. I have a few videos on Mosaic borders on my mosaic finishing playlist but there are others on youtube if you search. Here is a link to my enclosed border video: ua-cam.com/video/Wqa007Q63P0/v-deo.htmlsi=vCfYU3Eh7DQNB7zJ

      @Belia Garcia 😘😘😘💙 if you look over the playlists for multiple of 10, any of the plus 4 patterns would work and at your row end you would have 1 extra stitch to deal with from the 20+5 pattern being 1 more additional stitch.
      If there is a pattern with a +3 you would have 2 extra stitches and you cpuld just handle 1 at the start of the row and the other at the end so everything would be perfectly even. Depending on your stitch count for your project you can possibly use other pattern multiples.

    Thank you for such a great tutorial and beautiful pattern. I have one question. Can you explain how you wrap the yarn around your fingers and tighten the yarn lightly by pulling it down from behind and and holding from the front.? I hope that makes sense. It seems to pull the yarn nicely and sets them all in a straight line. Ty

      Thank you so much!! I think I have a video showing how I crochet, here is a link, I start talking about how I tug back on the yarn at 03:50 to adjust my tension ua-cam.com/video/mutru-IoAQI/v-deo.htmlsi=0ViwNquNhEutmO7a

    Hi! I just found this tutorial. Can I ask....what do we do with all the yarn down the sides? Weave them in?

    • @FiberFoxStudios
      @FiberFoxStudios  3 роки тому

      I've got a video on weaving them in a bit n knotting off and I have a video on enclosed double border as well. They are both in the mosaic Monday Playlist. Some people use the tails as fringe as well. I personally rarely use the double border method and prefer to weave and knot clipping the extra off on something like a blanket where I can just do a crochet border around the blanket.

    Thank you so much! You make this seem so easy! I’d like to understand why five stitches are added to the repeats. I count, one chain used to go up and do the first sc row, and the two stitches at each end that “sort of don’t count”... so, I’m missing two in this specific pattern. Am I crazy?

    • @FiberFoxStudios
      @FiberFoxStudios  3 роки тому +1

      Hi!!! Sorry for the delay in reply. So there is sometimes an extra stitch needed to even out the design, and then there is always a turning chain. Each design can vary so it depends on how it starts and ends. Doing the charts makes it really easy to figure that out. I saw that you watched that one too and it helped you so im hoping that your God a full understanding but if you have any questions just let me know. I've done another video on placing X's on a pic you have found.

      @@FiberFoxStudios Thanks! I'm probably too new at this to understand, but I'm sure i'll get the hang of it soon! Thanks for answering! And Yes! I try and watch as much videos as I can. Some times I skip ahead as I am looking for specific answers that I know I'm looking for, but generally go back and watch them completely later on. Thanks again for all your videos! They are super helpful!

      @@moonbee03 you will get it!! Its all about symmetry, some patterns don't have that extra stitch needed to even them out others do. It can be confusing but you will get it and as long as it looks good and you had fun doing it then its a win!

    • @FiberFoxStudios
      @FiberFoxStudios  3 роки тому

      This one is a 20+5 multiple so I don't think I have any other tutorials on the channel that are an exact join up with thevexavt same multiple but I'll look and see to make sure. This one is part of a big set that has this design increasing in size with each chart. I will have to pick out a few more from that set to film and put up on the channel.
