Truck companies did a great job venting. I thought they were going to lose it at the beginning with how bad the conditions were but the FD worked their butts off and did a great job💪🍀
Apparently a California firefighter was electrocuted in the 1970s while deploying an aluminum ground ladder. Only place in the world that still uses them.
I’m watching firefighter videos cause the last night there was a fire somewhere around my house and I saw what they did but not really that much so I want. I’m watching firefighter videos to see what they’re doing.
As A 25 year Capt there is No reason to cut a hole in the roof. The fire will burn right through. Use the aerial and extinguisher the fire go defensive all the way! Houss is fully engulfed.
Just don't understand the peaked roof venting in California especially in those conditions. I know they train for it but here in the east coast big city ..no bloody good . Great Department for sure though ..LA.
You clearly don't have a clue. Did you see air going DOWN into the roof??? No, you didn't, because that's not how fires work. Heat RISES. Venting the the heat and smoke allows cool air to come in behind the fire so firefighters can go in to the seat of the fire and put water on it. If not for ventilation, they'd be standing around outside trying to put out the fire like firefighters in the UK.
a full roam tank filled with dawn liquid dish soap will do the job toooooooooooooooo. and turn outs hose even the engine 100% clean. you have a car wash in a fire truck.
Vertical Ventilation improves conditions on the lower levels? Consider the over pressurization in the attic actually pushes down into the living spaces.

Thank you❤🙌🏼
Nice job. Wooden ground ladders. Excellent. Thanks for your efforts.

@eriksand9262Thanks for the info. Take care.
@eriksand9262 And the rest of the world uses aluminum...
Nice camera work. Stay Safe.
Great video

Great job everyone who responded to this fire and I sure miss those days when I was a volunteer firefighter for St.Helens Oregon for seventeen years.
so nice to see they still have some trucks with LA City Fire Dept....on them !!!
I can't get used to lafd wearing new york style helmet.
They should've spent that money on waterways for their ladders.
Great video 💯
gnarly fire....lot's of pressurized smoke
Pushing down into the lower levels from the attic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nice work
RIP Phenix helmets......
I think I see a female firefighter.
Nope
FFs can't let go of tradition
This house was history. It needed immediate water not poking the roof!
why arent you a fireman
@@behbear1 too old now, but I sure wish I was
@@edotoole6604 your lack of knowledge….

Wow that’s a breathtaking assessment, I wonder what all the folks on hoselines were doing
Fire was ripping when they got on scene! That's what happens when there's a lack of stations in the valley...
@@dropbagit Other valley units were tied up on a commercial fire
@@90210FireBuff Strengthens the argument even more. LAFD needs more stations!
@@dropbagit Or better fire prevention...
@@ffjsb Fire prevention on a single family home???
@@dropbagit Yep. Fire prevention education. It's a thing.
I actually work right by there lmfao; as a stringer I was tempted to take off to it but just decided to keep rebuilding transfer cases lol
The good news is, the fire is out but you need a new roof because we’ve put massive holes in it.
You don’t think the heavy fire in the attic would warrant a new roof anyway?
No offense, just a question: Why do most firefighters not wear gloves while on the scene? Is there a kind of philosophy or tactic behind that?
Running slick tires on that ladder at 7:19 eh
Unfortunately by the looks of it a total and complete loss.

What is a working house fire?
Exactly what you are seeing in the video. If there was little or no smoke and flames then it would not be a Working Fire.

DEI Helmets ? Thanks Chief…..😎
Never understood why they break the roof allowing more oxygen to get in and increase the fire? They don’t do that in UK
Which pushes the fire down into the living areas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@@JB91710 It is used as ventilation so the smoke has somewhere to escape in bulk. Also to clear interior of smoke for visibility.
@@JB91710 WRONG. Heat RISES. Basic science JB. That's another thing you know nothing about.

Are you watching a truck company or an engine company?
Mai che spostino le automobili che rompono 😊

Why do the LAFD always run. What the hell is the hurry . Take your time.
They so rarely catch a true fire call, the adrenaline starts pumpin'.

Compared to nycfd communication is better.
Those goofy axes hanging off everyone’s belt are ridiculous. And in certain situations can get them hung up trying to bail out
