This game has got a fairly high skill cieling and I'm currently awful at it, but man it is so fun. Never had so much fun while dying. More games should focus on making the dying experience "fun".
Best tip is to master the longsword. It's insanely versatile and once you learn the combat mechanics and the most common swings that come your way or can predict or react to attacks quickly, its speed will beat almost every opponent. It does less damage than other weapons but each of its attacks are medium damage, there are no downsides to each attack meaning that used well, you can counter and seize initiative a majority of the time. Also biggest tip you could have is to maximise your use of counter attacks. The only time you shouldn't be trying to counter an attack is if you aren't ready for or catch sight of an incoming attack late
@@Exalindor1 Lmao what? Advising people to use a longsword in a medieval game is min maxing? It's the best well rounded weapon and most fun to use. It's not fun to die or run out of stamina and be disarmed constantly so making a point of using the counter mechanic (basic mechanic, not meta) to never run out of stamina is just basic advice that will greatly help newbies.

My other tip would be to try playing archer once in a while. For smaller duels and games, they’re pretty useless, but archers (especially crossbowmen) play a very important role in big team objective modes. You’re meant to hang back and support your team from afar. Pick off that one raider or knight that’s tearing up your teammates, or help push enemies out of a bottleneck on a bridge. Archers are an often overlooked but critical support role for team objective modes.
Yeah on escape from falirem as the defended I sat with the long bow and flame pot at our end of the bridge and just let loose arrows over the horizon of the bridge into enemy. Didn't really bother aiming I was just killing by volume of fire I was also next to the ammo refuel
I was fighting 3 guys earlier today as i tried flanking on my own... was about to land the last hit on the final guy to finish him off and boom arrow to the face 🤣🤣
Alternatively, don't do that. Be at medium distance so you can actually land your hits and headshots more often to charge your specials faster. Just be more aware of your surroundings and you can reliably escape or pull out your knife and defend yourself. There are also plenty of areas that are close, but clearly made for ranged support that you'll never discover if you are at maximum effective range patting yourself on the back for getting 1 kill per quiver.

i just started playing now that it was free to get on epic games for a week. (you get to keep it) i can totally agree with the last statement. i have never experienced such a layed back fun game to just play with a lot of people. there is always that one guy that gets mad when he loses but is than shut down by the rest. also the ingame shenanigans are so much fun.
It certainly is the most casual and least toxic online game I have ever played, the developers certainly knew what kind of game they wanted to make, its refreshing to get a laugh out of dying rather than upset by it as is the lack of assault rifles, who knew seeing body parts flying left and right could be made so funny, just hack and slash your way without mercy across the map until you realise how far past your bed time it is :) Great video !
Third mode is great for seeing whats coming when its multiple vs you but its horrible for ranged combat, also comes under personal preference or how people tend to play (im always first person cause it just matches to me)
You forgot about stabs they are dam fast and some weapons deal more DMG with stab for example ls . Also useful tip for beginners and all players is not push so hard everytime wait for teammates if you can. I seen to many crazy pushers who died so quickly both in tdm and invasion. Also don't chase enemy when they are on the ground everytime same with revives if you see it's safe to revive do it if it's not it's not worth it. Also positioning in teammodes you need to look where enemy is your teammates to not end begin surounded by enemy.

I'm a long standing casual melee slasher fps fan, I played Chiv 1 for about 500 hrs and played Mordhau for about 600 hrs. I purchased Chiv 2 yesterday and played it for like 3hrs so far, and I must say I'm having a blast. Sure the animations are clunkier than something like Mordhau, and the weapons need some balancing, but the game makes up for it in atmosphere. Gods, the sound and look of this game is just so good, it actually makes you feel like you are in the middle of a medieval battlefield. But I'm still afraid what will this game become in like 2-3 years though, I hope it doesn't walk the path of Chiv 1 or Mordhau.
I'm sad there aren't any servers that lock everyone into first person, I like the game a lot better in first person but I do feel like I have a massive disadvantage at some points.
@@halfknight6706 it's always the thing with 1st person only for anything that isn't an fps. For some reason a lot of people complain about it so devs are afraid to do it. Weirdly enough 3rd person only games don't really seem to have this issue.
I start playing about 2 weeks ago, I'm a souls pvper and some of the mechanics can be translated to Chilvary II, specially spacing and the priority, but something that till this day I haven't seen discuss yet is baiting. I use it a lot for the highlander, as an opener or a finish, cuz technically, you're wasting stamina in a hit but everytime I have tried for the first time with an opponent, the bait into a real attack always landed.
Thanks, I think I need more videos like this. Regarding point "complete objective", may times I tried to do it, but often is killed in process. That's why more expirienced players are lonely on the some point which we need to defend.
I have a friend who got the game about a month ago. he really enjoys custom 1v1 servers and we play that mainly. he also likes arena quite a bit. When I asked him if he wants to play normal 64 or 40 player modes he always says no and I could never figure out why. Well I figured it out. he mainly plays games like league and other hyper competitive and toxic games and that is the exact reason he doesn't like the main chiv 2 game mode, its not toxic and competative enough for him ;-;

i’m new but i learned every quickly you should diversify your attacks and don’t forget stabs can come in handy and also use your kick it’s very useful especially when your enemy has a shield the more unpredictable you are the harder it is to be countered
I have yet to ever play in 3rd person, and I don't think I've even touched the FOV slider. I've been doing quite well, played Chiv 1 and Mordhau as well. It mostly comes down to awareness and sound really helps with that too. You can easily pick out where people strike you from if you have good quality headphones. Also using your mouse as momentum with swings to prolong or make them strike your target faster has seriously helped me. I suppose I do a lot of LMB attacks, but I like to swap it up with kicks, stabs or overheads. I riposte and try to feint out a lot and find that a lot of people don't expect it. Active parries are amazing though, I think I've done that more than any other trick in the book to defeat players, especially in TO.
Duels for practice All of my duels have been mfs throwing their weapons at me for 20 minutes and blocking until I kick then using a tiny fuckin knife to merk me
It's one of the free games of the month on ps plus sow I'm currently downloading it. I have also bin playing for honor since half way year 3 but this tips will probably be of great help to me. I also have 2 styles of medieval armor of my own and what I see here in terms of movement speed is pretty accurate to how you would move in real armor sow that expierence will probably also help me a lot when starting of. Update all 4 karakter types up to level 4 already.

Chivalry is definitely hard to learn and I’m coming from for honor. When I first watched the beginner video 4 for FOR HONOR I was like 🧐Oh hell nah but it was easy to learn since the tutorial is really good.
Currently watching this as the game was downloading. I was wondering what new thing would spice up online games for me, and when I saw this medieval combat game with 64 players I was sold.
I just got it free from epic and after 90 hours of mordhau's (courtesy of epic again lol) animation bs; I think its going to be a chill game with the homies.
3rd person is obviously stronger, but the 1rst person immersion is just... out of this world. While I generally get better scores in 3rd, I almost never reach the same "flow state" that I get in FPS. And boy are these flow states moments the reason I play this game. It's fun to switch from time to time though, like you said.
Yeah, about excessive damage... reminds me of that one time, when I got my hands on a catapult for the first time and tried to figure out, how shooting it works. On a second shot, I killed 5-6 teammates and 2 enemies by accident. 🤣
This game is incredibly fun. I only got it yesterday but I’ve already played hours of it. The only thing I’d warn against is going anywhere near the chat. It is toxic as all hell. You can’t go a single round without seeing several slurs in chat.
Well in the play the objective thing shouldn't your team not sit on the objective and let the enemies immediately get there shouldn't you move forward and try to hold them as far from the objective as possible until you get pushed back.
agree with everything except 3rd person....because your field of view is bigger, it doesn't help with improving your skill...using 3rd person kinda defeats your purpose of running in because since your fov is better, u are more likely to get into dangerous positions..
The last tip is not only for begginers but for anybody really. Got the game some time ago, I was doing great and actually I was on top of the leaderboard (got a few hundred hours in mordhau so I do have some experience). Then I died as a noble (I was hiding behind my team not to get unnecessary damage) and right before the end of the game I get votekicked by some salty lvl 200 that was doing worse than a lvl 16 me. I got 0 gold and 0 xp for my account for that match, made me put the game down for like 3 days.
Regarding playing the objective, I rarely bother unless it's fun, I play this game to spam emotes and charge into mobs of enemies flailing, not to get things done.
Victory is won by warriors, not weapons - Sensei Ishikawa In short any weapon is viable if you master the art of war. Choose what weapon you feel comfortable with. Also yes I know the original quote was not by Ishikawa, but he is who I thought of when I thought of the quote.

Step 1- grind archer till you unlock crossbow
Step 2- select Crossbowman
Step 3- switch to your cudger and beat all knights in melee

When I’m getting completely slapped (which is quite often) I’ll switch to the bow and play. They actually made it pretty fun to play.

Yea this is such a great beginner video. BTW after switching to 3rd person I was able to finally break 100 kills. It really is a MASSIVE advantage.
3rd person is the only way 1 v X is reasonably possible. E.g actually survive for more than a few seconds lol

LB+RB is so ingrained in me due to play For Honor, trying to unlearn holding LB at all times is also really hard.
As a for honor player since day 1 I feel u, but I got the hang of it pretty quickly.

Chiv punishes defenders with a time limit. It should be a ticket and time system. The attacks have 150 lives or so to take a position or something.

@@PrimeNPC it would stop attackers just overwhelming with bodies if it was tickets. If you blow through the defence that point is gone in seconds.
It’s usually standard in other games, but perhaps it’s to encourage wanton disregard for one’s life.

I highly recommend you play in 3rd person for at least a few hours, it is so much easier to see everything going on around you.

The duels aren’t even in my scope.. I know what kind of people will be in there.

Sometimes that excessive team damage helps. I had to kill a piece of friendly cavalry to help him get unstuck from a doorway.

I played for an hour and its insanee👌 much love for the game although it does get me a bit angry at times😂😂
What this game is missing at the very least is talking (mic use) within your allies would make playing the objectives more fun.

Yeah, about excessive damage... reminds me of that one time, when I got my hands on a catapult for the first time and tried to figure out, how shooting it works. On a second shot, I killed 5-6 teammates and 2 enemies by accident. 🤣

I am a beginner, and there was this one match where my teammates were kept killing me, and it was the only cause of my death for the whole match
Also, don't play archer, i were once slaying! until i picked archer and land 5 shots in a row onto my team's back... with fire as well!!!!
crossbow man is good though much easier to control your shot, also your banner heals teammates
This game is incredibly fun. I only got it yesterday but I’ve already played hours of it. The only thing I’d warn against is going anywhere near the chat. It is toxic as all hell. You can’t go a single round without seeing several slurs in chat.

I play in 3rd 99% of the time but sometimes it is extremely fun to go 1st person and run into the middle of a huge battle
Well in the play the objective thing shouldn't your team not sit on the objective and let the enemies immediately get there shouldn't you move forward and try to hold them as far from the objective as possible until you get pushed back.
I just can’t do third person, my boys and I love the immersion, even tho we may die more it’s such a blast

I just stared playing the game but I find it hard to survive 😂😂 I always got killed 5-10 times before I kill someone
How come I hit people like 4 times and get past blocks and don't even knock them down, but the first time I get hit I get decapitated?
agree with everything except 3rd person....because your field of view is bigger, it doesn't help with improving your skill...using 3rd person kinda defeats your purpose of running in because since your fov is better, u are more likely to get into dangerous positions..
The last tip is not only for begginers but for anybody really. Got the game some time ago, I was doing great and actually I was on top of the leaderboard (got a few hundred hours in mordhau so I do have some experience). Then I died as a noble (I was hiding behind my team not to get unnecessary damage) and right before the end of the game I get votekicked by some salty lvl 200 that was doing worse than a lvl 16 me. I got 0 gold and 0 xp for my account for that match, made me put the game down for like 3 days.
3rd person might be more efficient if you are looking for kda, but first person is just so cool I can't play anything else :D

Regarding playing the objective, I rarely bother unless it's fun, I play this game to spam emotes and charge into mobs of enemies flailing, not to get things done.

In short any weapon is viable if you master the art of war. Choose what weapon you feel comfortable with.
Also yes I know the original quote was not by Ishikawa, but he is who I thought of when I thought of the quote.
Nothing wrong with playing off the objective to stall them too.
