Except it is not advanced, it is the basic tutorial :D, but most ppl just want to have fun so they dont know about jabs and kicks and only use slash, stab, overhead and block. An advanced tutorial should have been not be afraid to toss your weapons more often and be aware of your "dying" environment and pick up weapons and shields. Also, most archers play in first person, so they are easily beaten by a heavy and light attack (60+40=100), they don't have time to react. And also to help your team in narrow locations, like the bridge, it is always a good idea to have 2-3 rabbits running in and getting a bunch of swarming nubs around you and just run around away from the choke point, that way u often win those hard blocked paths ez. Etc... but yeah love this guy, great vid.
@@Zkarr87 Still, this guide is way more advanced / useful than the average '' guide '' on youtube. Good tip : 90% of 2nd or 3rd enemies getting involved in a fight aren't expecting you aim your next attack towards them. 90% of the time in this situation your original opponent will think he has a free attack while you're 'distracted'. If you land the hit on the other opponent you gain initiative and can immediately counter the first opponents attack which 90% of the time, will hit both opponents and leave you with the initiative once again. The most useful thing I've learned is that most players are very predictable in certain situations. Another great tip for newbies or anyone with a holding block habit - counter stab beats kick every time. Just always be prepared to counter stab opponents if you are holding block. Many times even if you counter stab while they are swinging or overheading, your stab will still connect first providing you're using a sword or fast weapon. I also use the longsword 90% of the time. Last tip : remember to taunt your enemies often, this will cause some players to become more aggressive and therefore more predictable as battles progress.
I've been playing for a day or two, and the first statement is pretty true. Always fun to be fighting someone, take a big hit, and then see 4 friendly NPCs running from behind the enemy.
Problem with the counter stab in 1vX situations is you will probably get interrupted by someone else’s attack. In that case, is it better to just let go of everything, let the kick and attack hit, then go back for a block/riposte?
@@Nediac800 Just use lmb counters in 1vX because 9/10 players will just spam lmb attacks even its 8 v 1. The counter stab is just the faster move available and it will beat a kick. The trick is to counter the person on furtherest left or right so the counter swing blocks everyone else's attack as it goes round / though them
Something to mention about kicks are how effective a giant to kick is. Start your attack, I recommend the slash because it’s the most readable attack. Then immediately hit the the kick. This will usually force your opponent to put up his guard and give you a free stagger.
(Mordhau Vet Here) It seems like new players are having a much easier time learning the game compared to mordhau. It took my two friends over 20 hours in mordhau before they could even hope to 2v1 me with full communication. But in just their first beta, they were already able to win the occasional duel, and they even topped the leaderboards on occasion. I think the devs tried really hard to narrow the gap between the skill floor and ceiling, while still leaving room to grow and improve. So far it’s seams like they did a good job and created a successful casual experience for most people.
Yeah, I had some fun with Chivalry 1 but ultimately, I kept bouncing off of very experienced players who could slash me in half in ten seconds. I've only played for a little bit but Chivalry 2 seems very well balanced. I fought many experienced players and, even though I'd still lose most of the time, the key difference is that I could always feel that it was my fault, recognize how I failed and work on that. And once I got a feel for some tricks (feinting, dodging, lobbing your shield to finish your opponent, which is always the funniest thing ever when it lands) I could even get some hits in, which does a lot for the morale.

4:54 This is kinda embarrassing, but I seriously never knew this was changed in Chiv to Mordhau... for YEARS I thought I was just worse than I was before because I had so much trouble taking advantage of people missing (that was the main way I used to play).
Yeah I'd do the combo to parry move often in mordhau if I missed, but it does feel like it punishes someone who isn't aware of a vague mechanic rather than rewarding someone who can react/think on their feet by punishing a miss, or manipulating an opponent into doing so. Still possible to punish or encourage a miss in mordhau ofc, but honestly I prefer it this way; it requires more deliberation, timing and correct judgement to land an attack whilst rewarding those who can take advantage of an enemy missing attack more easily.
Can't wait to play this game, getting it soon. Chivalry 1 is such a crazy experience compared to a first person shooter. Will add for people not doing as well as expected, there is a learning curve a bit steeper than most pvp games. You will eventually have it all come together if you just focus on mastering certain things at a time. Play against bots to try stuff out (if that's an option, is on the first game)
You might’ve forgot the dodge mechanic to duck below your enemy’s swing if their headhunting, you can punish by hitting them in the legs while crouching.
Played a lot of mordhau frontline and I'm having so much fun in this game. I'm relieved to see there is more depth to the combat than it seems on the surface; the difference between someone who knows what they're doing and someone less experienced is certainly visible. Also the more accessible combat which should encourage crossplay and keep the playerbase stocked is a fantastic idea (imagine trying to block a veteran mordhau pc player with a controller).
Definitely a big learning curve for sure, I've only been playing a couple days and I can already see that the skill gap between newbies and veterans is massive.

I remapped the toggle view button from 'P' to 'V' so it's easier to swap between first person and third person quickly in the middle of 1vX combat. It honestly feels a little cheap how useful this is.
I did the same too and it really helps in 1v3+ situations. It's part of the game, another handy tool in the arsenal. So it's not cheap if you're using what the devs gave you.
I've been using sword and shield with foot soldier. (So a medium shield) My best advice is to heavy attack. I typically bait out kicks and punish in kind. But the medium shield is surprisingly weak and will break fast with a few heavy attacks. Only downside is I can retreat and look for a new shield.
Just started this on ps5. Great video! Question though....you mentioned its better to cancel an attack than to miss. How do you cancel an attack? Thanks for the video 🦊
I'm a new player to chivalry 2 but I'm already rank 25 and picked up on these tactics quickly, but this is an awesome guide on how to not be a noob and I'm sure it will help a lot of people out there, God knows I've faced hundreds of people who need these tips! One of the most annoying things are how most of the players who use one handed weapons fight, spamming slash hoping to overwhelm the opponent, only to be reposted and decapitated. I once encountered the same guy 8 times and he did that same damn thing every time, that's the definition of insane!
Excellent video man, a lot of these tips you naturally pick up on as you gain experience. My biggest struggle right now is getting sniped by archers that are camping in the back of the map lol.
Been playing for a bit now, maybe ~50 hours. Something I caught myself being a noob about was not dishing out a variety of combos/attacks (was only slashing cause it’s easy and lazy). Also forgetting about my Q strong attack!
One thing I'm unsure of is how to properly dodge to avoid getting hit. I usually use it to make space in 1vx or maneuver around (poorly, still figuring foot work) but when I intentionally try to dodge an attack I still get hit if I dodge left or right.
Another tip for archers/crossbowmen. You can cancel your shots by pressing 'x' or 'square', same as Skyrim. I don't play PC but I imagine it is the same input you use to revive teammates, I could be wrong though.
for the two much 1vX i would say it is smart to pull away a large group of enemy player ,which allow your team to get the objective faster than if that group was fighting the team

I am not usually one to look up a tutorial, but I wanna try and enjoy the game in a more standing point, so this video has definitely helped point some things out
A good option for missing attacks, intentionally do it at a distance because most enemies are noobs at the moment, then attack them once they miss you.
Intersting video it certainly shows why in real history they had formations, prevent being outnumbered and prevent back attacks at least as an individual.
The only problem i have with chivalry 2 is the same one i had with mordhau, i love to play in first person for a more fun and immersive experience, but 3rd person gives you an awareness advantage, but completely ruins the game for me, there are players who play to have fun, and those who treat it like an esport, maybe they have fun that way, but its at others expense and cannot be changed. So the playerbase is split into two groups and the lesser always wins, gaming has become a career choice now, therefore people do their damndest to apply that to their own lives, an unfortunate truth. Great video dude! i love chiv 2 so this was helpful
This, after 1000 plus hours of chivalry 1, chivalry 2 feels weird. Chiv 1 was like chess, my move, enemy move, my move. Now it feels like the enemy does 2 moves after I block. Even when reposting. Something is weird. And expecting kicks to interrupt attacks while they no longer interrupt is my main cause of death.
@@franke102 Its hard to feint after a riposte cause you usually hit with the same attack you just blocked. I did one game get in the habit of riposting a heavy into a stab and it was doing wonders but the next game my timing was off and I was off and counldnt get the feint to go.
@@brandonenke2680 then just block and kick after you counteted once or twice.... I don't get why people fault the game for having their own mechanics to master
Tip #1: Get in the habit of pressing your opponent positionally. Its very common to want to walk in a circle or backpedal when dueling or 1vXing, but trying to walk through your opponent fucks their timing all to hell. As much as people dont want to admit, Chiv (and mordhau) are rhythm games, so making your attacks land sooner than expected turns into kicking the CD player and the track skips (and you have a better chance of landing a hit to the head).
I really feel like there should be an “accept duel “ option so you can 1v1 without worrying about enemies, it was in a Star Wars game years ago and it was sick

Do anyone else stop hearing any other sounds the moment you are in a 1v1 and then get smacked in the back of the head? To add to the kicking; Remember that your opponent can bait out your kick in which they drop the block to hit you.

Truly helpful. As you go through the mistakes, the scenes came to my eyes. Very spot-on.
So it's not cheap if you're using what the devs gave you.
first person is useless, can't see people approaching from the side or behind as easily
Back stabbing and getting out numbered seems like something thats incentived more than a result of new players being over zealous.
0:33, crap I have problems with those enemies all along the watchtower.
I'm sure there must be some kind of way out of here.
@@BiggusNickus Said the joker to the thief
@@LordChristoff there's too much confusion..
biggest mistake i made on this game was using weapons all you need is your fists and an alcohol problem
Just understanding initiative has already made a difference, great video!
Never seen such a big ego dude, heal yourself
@@Oskour117 Ego?
So much more concise than other videos out there. Thanks!
I haven’t played it yet, but it finished the download so it is on my too do list. Thanks for the beginner tips.
All of your videos feel so informative and immediately useful, I can't believe you haven't passed 100k yet!
One thing I'm unsure of is how to properly dodge to avoid getting hit. I usually use it to make space in 1vx or maneuver around (poorly, still figuring foot work) but when I intentionally try to dodge an attack I still get hit if I dodge left or right.
Dodge back out of range. When used right some weapons have a big reach. Dodging back works better for me. Have to keep good space though.
4:07 Ha ha ha ha. I laughed so hard. That's so true.
That was cool man a real eye opener after a week playing. Solid guide, thank you!
Interesting! So they actually implemented something like foil fencing rules as a game mechanic. I had no idea. That's pretty cool.
I be getting murked but this game is pretty great. Those lvl 500 guys are rediculous! 😂
Very nice as always Louie
Watched this video and literally went 65-17 lol thanks
65 deaths and 17 kills. that's rough man
@@austinpruitt4165 65 kills and 17 deaths. You wouldn’t even get that far
@@TheItalianMafias you probably right since I have a life and don't play video games that much
@@austinpruitt4165 yeah nice excuse dude. I got a life too and I can’t even get that much kills but I play games to relax after work and have fun on chivalry 2.
@@TheItalianMafias I just don't want to waste the rest of my day playing videos games till it's time for bed again. That's all
please keep doing vids on Chiv 2
This game is sweaty like cod I’ve noticed everyone is insane at this game
cant seem to grasp it and its pissing me off tbh. Trying to not get pissed off cause of the nature of the game but it just seems like everyone is swinging faster than me no matter what and it feels like my block hardly fucking works most the time
I would love to see a sequel to this, 5 mistakes veteran mordhau players make in chivalry 2
A better way to not get stabbed in the back? Third person. It's way easier to see someone shuffling to your side in 3rd person
I am not usually one to look up a tutorial, but I wanna try and enjoy the game in a more standing point, so this video has definitely helped point some things out
Thanks for this!!! I just started yesterday but I want to stop playing like a noob and stop making mistakes like this
Understanding and combining weapon reach and footwork is important when timing attacks. The better i got the less i needed to just block.
I just got the game yesterday and I'm having so much fun even when I'm getting my ass kicked
This is the best tip video I have ever seen throughout any game, thank you.
These are the most useful tips I've seen so far. THANK YOUUU
I think this is the only early tips video ive seen that has completely usefull tips to know
one guy once said in chat in the asian servers in mordhau
"Gambling is a chad move"
Counters and ripostes feel like they never give advantage even when done to a heavy attack.
@@1IGG just the fact that you riposte then get riposted back into a chain of you 2 riposting eachother till one is out of stam is aggrivating.
@@brandonenke2680 That's why they have feints. You can feint a swing/stab into a kick if you get stuck in that back and forth loop.
Great video I’m very new to this game. You got a new subscriber
I really feel like there should be an “accept duel “ option so you can 1v1 without worrying about enemies, it was in a Star Wars game years ago and it was sick
It will probably come in the next months, just like for Chiv 1
I played alot of hours into chiv 2 and ur video was realy advanced and explained realy well im sure new ppl playing will get better fast by watching and I even picked up a thing or 2 good video bro
Amazing vid, mate. Thank you for the help! :)
Thanks mate. Keep up the good work.
I'm fairly new but I've found that when I'm surrounded if I remind myself to stay calm and not panic. I still usually die but I take some with me.
The new player experience is brutal! I just started playing a little today, and I’m put up against experienced players, but at least I’m still managing to kill a few.
No shit bro! They match a lev10 player with a lev1000 player
Yeah dude it’s super frustrating, but at least I’m better now, being able to kill two players at once.
The most important Chivalry 2 video by far!
Do anyone else stop hearing any other sounds the moment you are in a 1v1 and then get smacked in the back of the head?
To add to the kicking; Remember that your opponent can bait out your kick in which they drop the block to hit you.
this game is made for people who sucked at mord.
I have more fun in chiv2 than in did in mord, though I do miss throwing rocks down at sweaty people
just got into the game... you're right... people love to block lol. I'll try to kick my way to victory
Very true, if I'm not having a great start, I'll reposition to the outlines and start picking off distracted players.
Gotta get that xp 😅
This is great! Helped a lot thanks!
i literally had no idea, respect the initiative
Best part of this video is that it's straight to the point.
Excellent video, thank you!
The first Chivalry video with real good tips that I've seen! Thank you!
Just started playing. This is very helpful!
I love how blocking drains your stamina out the ass but doesn't cost stamina to swing around non stop it's kinda bullshit.
Great video. Extremely helpful tips
Kick counters block. Jab counters attack spam. Special counters people that don't dodge. This is all you need to know.

Couple of things that are bugging me.
1. No voice chat
2. No button remapping on console
3. No way to invite party into game in progress
4. No duel servers up
5. No private game servers
Apart from that, I am enjoying!
