John Carter Cash called me in March of 2016 asking if I would play guitar on this Chris Cornell track he was working on. I said yes of course and had my mind blown at the same moment. I was going to be on a song with Chris Cornell. Cash sends me a demo of just Chris and one guitar singing this song to learn from. My job was to copy the feel of the guitar part from his demo and play it like Chris on the master track essentially. Went to the Cash Cabin after a couple weeks and laid down two acoustic guitar tracks that go through the whole song. Mr. Cash said it was perfect and that was done. I told friends and family again and again to look out for this song. Eventually I was going to be on a Chris Cornell song. News of his passing was extremely hard to process especially under the circumstances. I never got to meet Chris except for on the song. Honored to have had this chance. Never in a million years would i have expected this to happen to me. When i first heard the finalized mix of the song, i cried like a baby. His voice is so hauntingly beautiful. LOUD LOVE CC FANS

@Dave Daeger Wow!!! No words-Chris Cornell singing Johnny Cash’s lyrics/poetry!!! I’m a huge Johnny and Chris fan! Thank you for your part in keeping their music alive! ❤️🎶❤️🎵❤️🎶❤️
He is a bib marley / Beatles mix, very versatile artist. So many people dont realize how many songs they know are him , your cousin was amazing, thankful for him
I am 74 and have been plugged into music for 60 years. This voice just amazes me. Not a grunge music fan but listening to Chris cover No One Compares to You drew me in to his acoustic work. This is an incomparable artist. His death is so tragic and reminds of how many people hide their depression.
Actually it's a Johnny Cash song that he never wrote in regards to his relationship with his wife.. fact that Chris Cornell got to put it out when Johnny didn't record it is so beautiful
It's funny how some artists find bigger fame after they die, because somehow death puts them in a almost untouchable position. But with Chris, all the wishes that he would still be here, all the "I miss you" posts are real. People really loved Chris when he was around and we really feel his absence. He was such an amazing artist, more than a powerful voice, but able to transmit truthful feelings through each word he sang. We really miss you Chris. And it still hurts.
Written by the best country musician there ever was and recorded by the best vocalist that we will ever have the pleasure of listening to. Thanks Chris it was a pleasure having you on this earth while we were all here.I listen to this song daily since it was released in April 2018
Chris Cornell is a voice that can never be repeated. It was his...it was unique. It was beautiful, emotional and just so full of soul. He will always be a huge part in the world of music. His voice will echo through time until we are no more. R.I.P Chris.
**Yep Keep Him With You & Listen to his Music. Keep His Memory Alive ya know? I just found out today, & ontop of that my GF from High School Days Died. Just Found out about her Today too ☹️**
I just heard this song for the first time today and, man, did it ever hit me in the feels. It's a very beautiful yet haunting song because it feels almost like Johnny wrote it for Chris.
I feel the same way, i cried the first time I heard this song. Just like I cried many times since his tragic death. His music was a gift to all of us. The details of his depression that his friends and family shared with his fans and the public, allowed many people to realize that depression can affect anyone, regardless of your age, gender, background, finances or status. If maybe we can reach out to each other in some way, be there to talk to a friend, co-worker, neighbor or family member, maybe we can help someone.
I'm listening to it now again. And it never gets easier. He never left a suicide note, but I feel like it was all told in his songs. One of his lyrics before this song I always felt like it explained things better than I could. That music always did. I'm just glad he left that gift.
What's most heartbreaking is that yes, nobody really knew his mind, nobody could save Chris from the torments on his mind. Two great legends, Chris and Cash, the result could only be a masterpiece
Angela Davis That’s not necessarily true, the police ruled it off as suicide, but he did have several unexplained injuries, so yeah, maybe he killed him self, or he was murdered, there is no concrete evidence for him being murdered, but since most evidence points to suicide, if someone asks how he died, imma say suicide, but I’m not quite sure what to believe myself
yeah, at 3:12 tears just started rolling down my face. Never felt it coming. Perhaps it was sad irony of the lyrics sung by Chris now that he's gone. But, suppose it's just the power of music. His cover of Prince welled me up too.
Maybe Layne but I didn't have to go through hearing about his death while I was a fan. Wheras with Chris it's like I JUST went down the grunge rabbit hole and suddenly Cornell's dead. It's fucked he's possibly Seattles greatest ever musical artist and i'm including Jimmi Hendrix in that.
Johnny's words were a cry for help, that Chris' haunting vocals portrays. Yet neither the writing nor singing is one of despair, but one of saying goodbye with a tearful smile. Rips my guts apart.
No one sings like you anymore, no one ever could. I miss him everyday. His music has been saving me from the first time I saw SG at a music festival 😢😢
I'm normally not overly bothered by celebrity deaths. But Chris Cornell is one that I still can't get over. Fuck, I miss the hell out of this guy! ... I'm glad I got to see him live in 2016!
Everyone misses you, Chris. The emotion you put into everything you did, puts you in your own category of special. You'll never be forgotten by those you've touched. You're truly one of a kind.
This may be the greatest song I have ever heard... 515,938 views? I've listened to it more than that on spotify.. these words seem to be written from the grave... wow.

I'm telling you....there are thousands and thousands of dedicated fans of yours, who wished they could have been there that night to help you. Thank you for this unexpected gift, hearing your voice in a new song, is like you reaching out to us from heaven....comforting us. Miss you Chris.....
Maybe he was, maybe he wasn't. There are a lot of things that indicate both. If Chris was victim of a crime, I would want nothing more than justice for him....but will we ever find out? I'm corcerned for his kids....
I really love this song. Feb/2018 was a time where I was completely lost. I just had experienced a few months earlier my first break-up in my first (and long) relationship. I turned 19 at the time, unemployed, drinking like a 60's big block V8 and in state where I used to feel sorry for myself, crying each time I look to myself in the mirror, blaming me for the break-upand punishing myself for that. It was terrible. I cried a lot in the first time I've listened to this song, specially at the part where he says "and you supposed you never doubted that we were all togheter fine?". After that I went into college and started to work as a teacher and that has helped me to find myself. Now I'm going to my 2nd college degree, I was able to buy my childhood dream car, got married twice and had dated a lot of amazing girls since then, but unfortunately I'm not together with any of them. I don't know who you are, I don't know how relatable my story is for you, but I know one thing: if you're reading this comment and listening to this song while going through a difficult time, remember that it's gonna past. This bad period is not forever. And when all of this stay behind, only the lessons will stand. And this song, as a reminder from this bad moment in your life that you manage to overcome.
If anything is certain then that the music industry will milk a musician's death as long as possible so I fully expect demos/rarities to be released at some point.
Marcel Salas there you go...a box set already just announced today but I have mixed feelings about it. I don't know what CC would've wanted. I don't know his mind and I never will. Also, I don't fell entitled to bitch about it. I'm just a fan....

It is amazing, was reading about this cd coming up and Chris was thrilled to sing this song ... both gone and both will never be forgotten. Thank you John Cash for doing this.
Javelin Well, he always loved to make us feel... something. I like to think he'd be pleased to know we feel from this song (well, he probably didn't know how heartbroken we would all be, but at least feeling something lets us know "we're not dead, or caught in between" -- some more of his lyrics that gut me right now). With a lot of today's mindless, vapid artists, I kind of appreciate the feelings that this kind of music invoke. You're right, it sucks and it's going to take forever to get past it. I can only imagine the loss his poor family is dealing with.
It bothers me how much the industry is milking his death but I can't say I don't appreciate this. Even my cats huddled next to me with their eyes closed to listen with me
Both Johnny Cash and Chris Cornell were the greatest legends of all music history, it still sad though that their gone, but all of those greatest music legends were all up there in the sky, watching us to see us that we keep inspiring more them and each other #rememberthelegends

How wrong I was how or what does a real fan do whenever 2 to help write to a fanclub. What does one do to help or maybe help save a life.??? We all got to do better
After reading more about this whole project, I'm seeing what an awesome tribute this really is to Johnny Cash. We are lucky to have insight into some of his personal writings that never made it to production for whatever reason. And I like the mix of different artists. It still bums me out that he’s gone... Got to see him 4x.. And I thought I was gonna get to see him plenty more times.. R.I.P.
The words hit right in the feels
Words by Cash, Delivery of Love, Sorrow, Pain & Beauty by Cornell, RIPCC! RIPCash!
It is amazing, was reading about this cd coming up and Chris was thrilled to sing this song ... both gone and both will never be forgotten. Thank you John Cash for doing this.
This hurts to listen to knowing he's gone. I hate this feeling.
Chris was a righteous man that was taken out too young. 💜 I'll leave it at that.
Chris could cover anything and make it truly awesome.
Heartbreaking. Exquisite. Poignant. It is just..... wow.
My favorite singer of all time. RIP Chris Cornell.
My heart sinks into my chest knowing that two of my favourite artists are gone. One unnecessarily.
Beautiful. Two souls made magic.❤
May they both R.I.P.
Two musical geniuses.
It bothers me how much the industry is milking his death but I can't say I don't appreciate this. Even my cats huddled next to me with their eyes closed to listen with me
Nobody really knew Chris' mind. Beautiful and heartbreaking song. His voice sounds so sad and sweet in it. I will always love him. RIP 💙⚘
Both Johnny Cash and Chris Cornell were the greatest legends of all music history, it still sad though that their gone, but all of those greatest music legends were all up there in the sky, watching us to see us that we keep inspiring more them and each other #rememberthelegends
Do yourself a favor, go buy that record. Hauntingly beautiful
Dont know how I'm just now hearing this but holy shit!...right in the feels!
I loved Chris Cornell aka Christopher john Boyle since I first heard his songs w Soundgarden I started to worry years ago over his sad deep songs but figured someone will help n spend time w him! How wrong I was how or what does a real fan do whenever 2
to help write to a fanclub. What does one do to help or maybe help save a life.??? We all got to do better
Heartbreak and beauty can run in the same thread. This song is proof.
Beautiful. Missing you Chris.
After reading more about this whole project, I'm seeing what an awesome tribute this really is to Johnny Cash. We are lucky to have insight into some of his personal writings that never made it to production for whatever reason. And I like the mix of different artists. Thank you to all involved with this project. I hope you see this, somehow…
Whats the project called?
Johnny Cash - Forever Words
Aaron lewis does an amazing song on it to, but this is a masterpiece
