Looks like a great option. Location is fine -- you can move it south in two days of cruising. I think Symbol is a decent Asian brand but not certain. The company has been around for a long time so that says something positive.
Looks like you could certainly make that work. What caught my eye was some of the components on the lower sections of the engine room. They looked greenish to me and green means corrosion in my book. Something to pay close attention during the survey, along with that possible water damage.
A new fan, shiners. This vessel looks like a winner and appears to check almost all of your boxes. It appears the boat has been well maintained and loved. A positive survey, a little work, and you are good to go. Looking forward to seeing you on the Trent Severn. cheers!
After being boatless for 5 years we ended up buying a 2003 Symbol pilothouse. Great for traveling, plenty of space and easy to maneuver. Might be biased but believe it is the best boat for the money. Whatever you end up with, truly hope you enjoy cruising as much as we do!

Another interesting boat. My concern is no engine room access from inside (not counting floor hatches in the salon). A trip lasting a year or so and you are making a minimum 730 trips (twice a day) through the lazarette into the engine room. If an alarm goes off in the middle of the night…well, maybe something to consider. Now the GB Aleutian for example - sorry, just kidding! Thanks again you guys!
I haven't looked at Symbol (I'm more of a Cat person as you may have noticed) but that one looks like it checks nearly all your boxes. Good cockpit space, really all you _need_ to add there is a fabric enclosure plus some Walmart porch/deck furniture. I do agree with Roger Harrison on the apparent corrosion of some of the lower fittings in the engine room, definitely something to have a surveyor give a close eyeball to. . Have you given any thought to "toilet training" for your S'kitties? I know some folks have gotten their cats trained to use the "throne" instead of a litter box. Sorry, I have NO idea how they managed it. I keep intending to ask Cruising Sea Venture how they manage with their two S'kitties.

We also are sticking with our plan we have mentioned in our past 26 episodes. We do not want to purchase our boat until the end of hurricane season 2021. That is November 30th.
