    This was a big help! I've been trying to figure out why Vegas was doing this for months. Thank you very much for answering this question (and explaining why what was happening was happening)! This worked for me!

  • @vincentbrice5991
    @vincentbrice5991 3 роки тому +4

    Definitely in my case, Vegas DOES NOT darken the render!! It’s just that the video APPEARS washed out in the preview window (for other technical reasons) and if I were to edit based on that I would be in a right mess.
    I have a second identical monitor for Video Preview with “Adjust levels from studio RGB to computer RGB” selected and this shows the clip exactly as it has come out of the camera sitting on the time line, how it will be rendered and how it will look on my TV, all EXACTLY the same. If I haven’t added any effects there will be no change in the render from the original whatsoever.

    thank you, even that one part of applying "computer rgb to studio rgb" helped a lot

    I'm gonna have to watch this several times.... i have noticed when i play my series episodes they seem to be brighter and look like they should have more gamma...hmmmm, this is another great episode Josh where i will have to use it as a reference and i believe one i will go back to again and again, thanks for learning this for your subscribers, you truly are an asset to the Vegas community, Mike

    Hi Josh, thanks so much for putting this video together. It's a far better level of explanation than I've seen on any other "vegas render fix" video (which are basically all just "slap levels plugin with computer rgb on it"). It's great to know what tools to bring up to properly visualize and understand whats happening as the levels presets are applied. I'll be going through this vid a few times with a vegas project up to get my output and preview matching properly.
    Great effort and result mate. Hugely appreciated. Many thanks! Paul H

    I drag the "Brightness and Contrast" effect to the preview screen (Master), have it be the last effect (if there are other effects you have in the Master section) and i set contrast to -124. It renders and looks EXACTLY how I edited the video.

    Thanks Josh, this video finally answered my question i've had for years. "Why do i loose the detail in my bights and darks every time i render" (e.g. my black leather desk chair too black i cant see the shadow lines.....my skin shades have less detail. and my grey misty rain far away in my sky background now has gone and cant see it's raining there anymore after rendering).
    This video has kept my videos with more of the original detail after rendering than before I watched it. But super embarrassing with my intellectual disability I know i'm only getting 2/3rds results. Matching what i can see with my eyes but I'm not fully understanding the speech explaining the LEVELS plugins :(
    If you could ever re-explain this 5:30 onwards in more layman's terms I'd be really thankful. I just want to fully understand how to set my preview PC screen to fully match what my final file will look like. Thanks

  • @GenSkillz
    @GenSkillz 2 роки тому

    to correct the colors/brightness and whatever I have to open plugins I don't even have, meaning search for them and download, then go watch this again step by step not even knowing what the hell it is about still. many hours later still no progress. all that for just wanting my video to render the colours and all how it is as the basefile . I mean like wtf. what a headache , sorry I am not that nerdy. sjeez , I gave up.
    EDIT: turns out I had a different problem. Changed project properties pixel format from 32 bit full range to 8 bit. 32 bit messed up my colours and brightness in some ways. I don't know why or how it was on 32 bit, must have been my own mistake. I am not that experienced in this software.

    This was very complex; to keep it much simpler. 16-235 content /colors will match when rendered. 0-255 content you have to add “ Computer to studio levels”. Ie. iPhone footage will look identical when played back (16-235) Gopro will not (0-255)
