After a over a decade I finally took care after my old Ti-Lite. It has been been completely disassembled, cleaned and thanks to You Sir, re-centred! Thank You Sir! Much obliged. 👍
Worked perfectly on my new Spyderco! And my pivot screw was only on the left side but this process still worked. And for those that were impatient like me, you can skip to about 5:40 when he actually starts showing the process.
I got the Kershaw CQC4KXL last Christmas when BladeHQ had them on sale for $20. It was so bad that it scraped, it took alot of work to get that guy even close to center, never got it perfect, but close and action is awesome now.
Similarly I got the cheapest offering they had at the time $25 emerson cqc-6k frame lock. the blade was off center and sounded like it was scraping. i didn't know what to do at the time, so i just tightened it, which centered it, but was then too tight to open. so i loosened it back up until it would open but then it sounded like it was scraping. finally i lubed it up with little improvement. finally i tightened down all the screws on the scales and that seemed to help the best, i just wish i had this video to tell me the trick about wedging the blade over.
Dude this helps so much, thank you! Also, just a little fyi, unless I am mistaken threadlock is anaerobic. Which means it won't set (or dry) while there is air, so also you want to just put the thread lock on the first couple threads. I also use purple threadlock. (222)
Nick Shabazz has alot of these types of videos on youtube... he also covers alot of different lock types and knive styles in his disassembly videos... Check it out...
Thanks brother, I followed your instructions to align the blade on a low end all metal Kershaw Filter frame lock (don’t hate it’s a knock around knife). Your process was uber easy and worked incredibly well. I’m a subscriber from now on.
Worked great on my Yojimbo 2. Had perfect centering from factory and I got a set of aftermarket micarta scales for it. Took it apart to install scales, put it back together was horrible blade centering. Almost blade touching the show side. I took it back apart and together again and did the same thing. Just tried doing what you shown and this actually works I'm amazed. Its not perfect but its damn near. Thank you!!!
Holy smokes did this video post at the perfect time. I just received my Spyderco Shaman in REX 45 with Dymondwood handles and the blade came a touch off center. That’s the only thing “wrong” with the knife and it really bummed me out when I first excitedly tore into the box to get to the knife. These videos are great to see and unique to what everyone else is doing. Thank you!
Thanks for the helpful vid buddy. I've just got a cheap little Kershaw Bowser and the blade was starting to rub but this video gave me the confidence to open it up and clean it as well as apply a little lubricant. Blade is nicely aligned now and the action is feeling smoother than before. Top notch stuff!
Thank you so much I got a bunch of new knifes from a buddy and this will help a ton just fixed my new flipper knife by doing this step by step much love metal complex and great videos
Got a Steel Will Cut Jack a while back that came WAY off center. Really liked the knife (with RAT1 & CJRB Feldspar for best budget knifes) but couldn’t get past the shotty centering. Watched this vid and man did it work perfect. Just sharpened it up next and now I just love this Cut Jack. Thanks man!!!
It’s funny seeing this now, as I just recently had to remove t6 screws from a Gerber and they used some sort of thread lock. I over torqued trying to unscrew them, not really being familiar with thread locking adhesives, and twisted the flutes pretty badly. Thankfully the torx bit manufacturer was willing to replace it for free. They actually ended up sending me an entire new set of the torx bits I’d purchased. So at least customer service isn’t completely dead these days!
Thank you. Just worked on my CRK small Sebenza 31 tanto after I swapped out the lanyard and couldn’t re-center the blade well. Very frustrating. Micro movements on the right tolerance pivot screw after removing folded paper worked well.
Thanks for this video I have a buck adrenaline that came off center and I have always wanted to know how to fix it your video just showed me how great video 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Cool vid. I love that Wiha stubby Screwdriver. Funny thing is I had it for a few months before I realized it came with a full set of bits in the handle ,lol.
cool. i just got a kershaw thrust for 24.99, it wasn't horribly off center..but enough to bother me..since im used to benchmades and crkt's that are usually dead center. This trick worked! fiddled a bit with right paper thickness..but worked. I didn't bother loctie on this one, since the other side of scales doesnt have threads that work with loctite...in fact there are 4 scale screws in T6, but only two are removable...its a weird knife. Pivot is T8..for 25 bucks the blade was RAZOR sharp for a china kewshaw and now entered nicely
Good vid. I'm no pro but aa I've got back into knives I fixed several issues on cheapo knives. Don't be worried just go superslow and micro changes in many areas can be enough. If you terrified of ruining your only 1k safe queen buy some cheapo knives and practice on them.
1st thanks. 2nd. On a recon tanto or other cold steel knives you have to loosen up the screws on both sides and then tighten them up first for it to work. 👍🏿
Perfect timing on this video. I've been in a state of sheer disgust (slight exaggeration) for the past month over the centering on my para 3 LW. Reminds me of an old girlfriend. She was damn sexy, except for that missing front tooth. Just couldn't give her the love she deserved, and that's a damn shame. I'm gonna try this method tomorrow and report back. Thank you for the video, I would love to see more like it.
New to the EDC scene and these are my favorite knife videos on youtube and MC comes through once again with a life saver for me right here. Just got my spyderco (China cough cough) and it was rubbing on the inside liner got it to about 40/60 in 2 minutes with this method and I can live with that on a budget knife thank you sir! PS I'm drooling over the Shaman it's on my wish list.
I have tried this several times with my Benchmades, and no luck. (Funnily enough, I have two Civivis at less than half the price that are dead center. I honestly wouldn't buy another Benchmade)
More of these type of videos please. Question: if the blade is favoring the clip side and you can only adjust pivot on show side. Same procedure, just inserting the paper on the opposite side? Thanks.
@@metal_complex Thanks bro. Looking forward to more knife care videos. Disassembly, reassembly, type of lubricant to use and how much, avoiding rust, etc. And sharpening and stropping. So much more content for the channel that I'm sure your viewers would appreciate. You're one of my favorite knife channels and I think adding this kind of information will blow you up. Sky's the limit!
get a fixed blade that way if the centering is off you could start your throwing knife collection and throw it at a log until another knife comes along.
Wow thank you so much .bought a copper natrix for almost 100 bucks was off-center as hell .perfect fix!! Can't stand when you buy a high priced knife and there's blade centering problems or an uneven grind!!
Wiha makes some thing they call the offset torx driver its like 2 allen keys together in an S shape thats t6 on one end and t8 on the other and they got one thats t10 on one side t15 on other. Its the best tool around for free spinning pivots. Also great for micro turns on pivot, to find that sweet spot between free droping and no blade play.
Couldn't sleep last night because the pivot on my Tenacious came loose and the centering got out of whack because of that. Thanks for the detailed explanation - I managed to center it back to where it was, currently left it to dry, we'll see in a dat or two how it goes, but I got a good feeling

Remedies for stress relief: Yoga, diaphragmatic breathing.... and centering your blade.
👍⚔👍⚔👍
@daAnder71 Ha! Copy that👍🏼
knife-enthusiasts with OCD: YES!
I actually consider sharpening like meditation. Wife thinks I'm crazy but yeah, I can get lost for hours sharpening up blades. xD
Yes. Always back to center.
After a over a decade I finally took care after my old Ti-Lite.
It has been been completely disassembled, cleaned and thanks to You Sir, re-centred!
Thank You Sir!

👍
I can't thank you enough for this public service announcement. This was very helpful ,and I was able to fix 3 knives that I just gave up on.
That's great! 👍👍
Thanks. I just followed your technique and centered a liner lock. That’s been off-center for so long. It worked like a charm. Thanks man.
I forgot to ask, have you ever reviewed? Acta Non Verba A100?
Worked perfectly on my new Spyderco! And my pivot screw was only on the left side but this process still worked. And for those that were impatient like me, you can skip to about 5:40 when he actually starts showing the process.
Just centered my terribly off center bladehq exclusive dlc m4 green canvas micarta Shaman thanks to this video! Thank you 🙏
Thanks! I’ve successfully adjusted my first off center knife: a Kershaw CQC Emerson framelock. Worked beautifully.
I got the Kershaw CQC4KXL last Christmas when BladeHQ had them on sale for $20. It was so bad that it scraped, it took alot of work to get that guy even close to center, never got it perfect, but close and action is awesome now.
FrankieJ dwm_edc That’s the one I got. Close out for $32. It was a bit tight when I got it but with this adjustment, all good now.
Exactly what I just pulled out of my pocket when I saw this video.
I used this trick last night to fix my son's badly off-centered cheap Kershaw knife, and it worked like a charm! Thanks!
Fantastic video my friend.
This just fixed my tenacious. In three years its never been centred even straight out the box. Than you my dude
Worked like a charm Gerber.
This should be pinned right up there with Nick Shabaz saying 'don't get into watches". Thanks MC!
Just found this video..tried it an new Benchmade Freek and it worked great! Thank you 🙏

Wish me luck haha! I know the Shaman has more body screws and both sides of the pivot have screws that can be adjusted.
Worked perfectly! Easy to follow!
Used it to adjust a Kershaw Fringe and it worked very well. Thanks!
Worked great! replaced the scales on my Rat-1 and it rubbed on one side after reassembly. great vid. Thank you.

Thank you sooo much for this video! I’ve been struggling with this Kershaw Dividend M390. I haven’t carried because of ocd. You helped me fix it!!!

this is pretty cool... it worked TY!
Really good “how to” video on getting blade centering correct. Nice job 👊👊👊
I’ve had pretty good luck with this, but it hasn’t always worked for me. Good vid. I usually use purple LocTite on scale and clip screws.

Awesome, definitely you should have done this vid a long time ago. Great vid buddy!
I was really upset will I got the spyderco Tenacious and the blade was not centered and I followed the steps and it worked thx you

I'm so happy you chose the Kizer Domin, that's the main one I wanted to fix and I can't figure it out for the life of me.

I'm very OCD about many things, luckily blade center it's one. But, I totally understand why you would be.
Interesting. I have a Ruike I will try this on. Thanks.
It worked on my budget 15 cr Crescent.
MC you said it! You get what you pay for. A five dollar knife might get you five months of mild use lol. Thanks for the video.
Thanks heaps!! 👍👍👍🤟
Thanks MC!!! Good info. :)
Works perfectly every time!! Not only in centering, but also usually improves the action! Thank you so much!
When your benchmade anthem comes off center 😩
Bob B. I did that with my 940 and it came back no different.
@@BrianMiller1973 Lucky man. They usually come back shorter :-(
Brian Miller that’s Bc it’s a BM
What about a Hinderer (with the odd pivot screw)?

My tenacious is “fine”, but its juuuust off a little and since noticing it… my ocd is taking over and i can’t stop it. 🤣
Ahhh, how about on the Reate Jack 2.0?!?!? Mine suddenly is off center, being my most costly knife. Kinda bothersome!
Thank you, this video was very helpfull
Sometimes, tightening the pivot opposite of the lock is enough.
get a fixed blade that way if the centering is off you could start your throwing knife collection and throw it at a log until another knife comes along.

Have a crack at a CRKT Homefront, kills me, I can't use it and the "field strip" technology is what prevents you from correcting it

Now the head of the screw on my 1.5$ is broken and the knife won't open😂😂😂
Very helpful - thanks. Unfortunately, blue loctite will not always keep a pivot from loosening. Red loctite not recommended for this application.
Like I said, I dont really WANT the pivot to be permanently fixed in place because of the need for periodic maintenance.
@@metal_complex No disagreement here, I didn't advocate permanently fixing the pivot or using red loctite.
Thx Bro! :)
Great Job!
