I know LaBrie's vocals are not for everyone, but he looks healthy when he sings and not like he is reaching for those high notes (because they ARE pretty god damn high)
The voice is VERY processed, but it's okay. It definitely doesn't sound bad, I like processing on a voice, especially on a very high-pitched one like Labrie's. I've always thought that his problem is live, and not in the studio. With comping, time and care he can put up a good performance. Unfortunately years of tireless live activity must have taken a toll on his stamina and voice strenght, and it's definitely evident live. He's my favorite singer and always will be, and I hope with all my heart that he finds a way to preserve/recover his voice and avoid poor figures live or completely lose it. I love him and he doesn't deserve all the hate DT fans tend to have.
Afonso Junior I agree with Valerio Cesarini. It's actually a balanced mixture of Reverbs, Delays, and other effects probably phasing. Don't need the autotune if the singer can sing in key and tone.
I wasn't expecting those food shots at all. It was so out of place I just spend crying with laughter half of the video. It's fun and all, but I regret DT giving up any pretence of their stuff being something meaningfull and try to beat the haters to it by laughing at themselves.

They are same people with no dramatic change in the sense of skill throughout years. They would sound same if there was no mikro portnoy in band . . Would u prefer this band over dream theater as we knew and Love?
I personally admire and appreciate both Portnoy and Mangini. Both are incredible musicians and have been inspirational to countless others, myself included. They are doing what they love to do. I respect both of them and the band as a whole. Most of us will never be able to achieve this level, so we can humbly appreciate what they have done.
Yeah, felt like a throwback - Train of Thought / Systematic Chaos feeling, little Black Clouds as well. I like the sound, and excited to be going back to that area of their sound hopefully.
Music is NICE, production value MUCH IMPROVED -- much more OPEN sound. Drums sound like...well...DRUMS! You guys considered us and what we have been saying for several years now. Thank you!
Only heard on tinny laptop speakers but they still sound better than other drums since Mangini came in so yeah, well done. It's all a bit prog-by-numbers very DT - would love to see them get a bit more djenty at times but much more promising than for a while.

Autotune mate
On album, Ok. Live, meh
Afonso Junior I agree with Valerio Cesarini. It's actually a balanced mixture of Reverbs, Delays, and other effects probably phasing. Don't need the autotune if the singer can sing in key and tone.
I liked the voice effects but they didn't have to last the whole freaking song. I guess it was done to disguise the autotune.
Barbacue Theater - Ungrilled Angel
hahaahahahaaha
hahahaha awesome description
Make barbacue great again! BRASIL acima de tudo. Deus acima de todos
I wasn't expecting those food shots at all. It was so out of place I just spend crying with laughter half of the video. It's fun and all, but I regret DT giving up any pretence of their stuff being something meaningfull and try to beat the haters to it by laughing at themselves.
Overture BBQ
Jesus Christ! LaBrie sounds really good in this one! Given his age he really still delivers in the studio!
get your fucking hands up noooo rock your head urrrrgh now rock!!!!jump! jump! jump! jump! jump!

I thought this was old stuff when I listened in the radio. Even gave me nostalgia
LaBrie doesn’t deserve the hate the snobs throw his way. This new album is a masterpiece. Also those cymbals need to be higher.

It was Dream Theater covering a Bad Salad cover of a Dream Theater song......

Nah.. too idiotic.
Thats what people wanted after the astonishing, a back to the roots album
You built this world around you, your universe
In spite of best intentions, things could not be worse
Chaos and fear have left you hangin' by a thread
As you argue with that voice inside your head
Untethered angel
Falling into darkness
Don't be afraid of letting go
Givin' up yourself won't set you free
Misgivin' and dismay, nightmares of wasted days

There's only one thing better than John Petrucci... twoo John Petrucci's.
Petrucci chef and Petrucci musician hahaha
And twoo is better than two too. See what I did there?

As high as mangini's cymbals, foo.
Don't know if I can take that.

so after all their music album title makes sense , distance over time , it's all about how to manage light speed to reach the cymbals to enter intergalactic universe and meet the commander ziltoid the omnicient , INDEEED.
I live for the duet at 4:26. Like, I've listened to this song several times a week for over a year just to hear this part. SO clean and well constructed.
Distance over time more like distance between cymbals
At first I was like this sounds good, then the second chorus hit and everything really took off. This song just kept getting better as it went on! Can't wait for the album! Also, the videos of John cooking are hilarious.
Sounds like a hybrid of Outcry and A Nightmare to Remember.
Because DT now is an hybrid of the lastest albums
Recycling....
Heh. It's just their compositional voice. They can't help but sound like them, I guess. There will always be certain rhythms, melodic contours, formal structures, etc., form the DNA of their music.
@@paulemillevasseur7622 no they are playing it safe, the only thing that good from astonishing is they being experimental. Now they are just recycling all over again because they scared to fail like astonishing. But we cant judge just yet, i hope this song is the worst one from the album.
Yes I hear that too now that you mention it...but what about a subtle element of Images and Words too...do you hear it
Everytime this song comes along to my ears it puts my thoughts back in times my life was exactly this. Loosing my husband too young because of braincancer, building up a wall around me getting a heart attack. Its a diminute lick repeated 1 and a half tone up... and then a little arpeggio...
When it's all the same, you don't like it. When it's something new, you don't like it either. Why don't you just listen to the music itself?! For me this is the music I love DT for. And that's enough for me.
Because of absence of Portnoy. This people are annoying, but hey- who cares about them? The only can make a shit, nothing else :)

Ok. i have to admit it. The first time I heard it, I was not convinced. but at the third time, I can say for sure. This is one of yours best albums in years! Congratulations!
I said the same thing! Third listen and it's a sealed deal
I think that’s how 75% of us feel. Such a great album
Like fine wine :)
They are same people with no dramatic change in the sense of skill throughout years. They would sound same if there was no mikro portnoy in band . . Would u prefer this band over dream theater as we knew and Love?
Its because of the sealed deal.

I wish they did this with every song. I thoroughly enjoy seeing bands in "a studio"... especially these guys.
Getting some Systematic Chaos vibes mixed with a bit of Dramatic Turn. Not bad. Very promising. Love the instrumental section.
Vocals suck
Yeah, felt like a throwback - Train of Thought / Systematic Chaos feeling, little Black Clouds as well. I like the sound, and excited to be going back to that area of their sound hopefully.
