I saw a YT of someone applying Lizard Skin on their van and to facilitate the process, they just drilled a hole on the cover of the bucket and stuck the application tool into the bucket. That way, they didn't need to "spoon" the product into the smaller container and can just go faster with the process.

I saw that too. It was a much smaller bucket (2gal vs 5gal). If I remember correctly I don’t think it was actually too successful. In the end it was pretty easy to refill the sprayer. I got into a rhythm and it went pretty quick. It also gave me an opportunity to clean the gun (run water through it) every 2-3 refills.

I appreciate the tutorial vids. But recently, your audio has dropped 3-4x less than what is normal. I raise the volume 4x for your video, then proceed to another channel with volume on blast. Just FYI that something is either wrong with the mic or in post.

Thanks for the feedback. We had some issues with the mics so we’ve definitely had some changes recently.

Was about to same the same. I saw a few of their videos back to back and the volume was all over the place.

@@minds4game we appreciate the feedback. We’re a van shop that does UA-cam not a UA-camr making vans. We do appreciate the constructive criticism and we’re working on getting better with each video. (It can also be really loud in our shop with our builds and our neighbors working too) it’s a constant challenge but we do want to make the best content we can.

For the OEM 350 insulation coating, that's a lot of work and expense for very little gain. 3mm of coating with low thermal conductivity ( not less than 0.035 W/mK, likely double that--of course Lizardskin doesn't publish it) is very small R value added. One is much better off using more batt type or even spray on foam insulations that have similar low thermal conductivity but are much thicker for much more significant overall R value. The reflectivity and emissivity potential that the Lizardskin might add to an insulation system is lost unless it is incorporated with at least 20mm air gap. Better to spray Lizardskin on the exterior.

This is not designed as a replacement for insulation. It’s just the first step in the process. We will still be insulating with 3M thinsulate. We’re hoping it will help keep the van cooler in the summer. Time will tell. I can’t wait to get a couple more vans to do a side by side test.

@@AVCRIG How are you going to set up an objective test? A whole van is a very large system to try to get equivalency between two examples save for one thin coating. Easiest thing to do would be to use a section of the van wall do half with Lizardskin with glued on 1.5" of Thinsulate and one section with glued on 1.5" Thinsulate and use an infrared camera to image relative difference in surface temperature.

@@kramerx6771 I’ve been thinking a lot about this and I do have a plan. We order Transits in pairs typically. Our current pair was split up for a customer build and the lizard skin stuff came up after one was too far along for comparison. When our next pair of vans comes we plan to spray one, and leave the other bare. We did pick up a FLIR camera and will use it in our test. I think numbers are good, but having two identical vans in the same conditions on the same day will be the best comparison. I’ve seen camera studies, data, all sorts of things… but I just want to walk into a van after it’s been sitting in the sun for an hour and see if we feel a difference. I it’s noticeably cooler in one then I think we can decide if it’s worth it.

You need to correct your audio by 10x more. You can not hear your video

It’s odd. On my phone it sounds fine. I pulled it up on my TV tonight and it’s incredibly quiet. Thanks for the alert!
