I once played a game with the tech/civic shuffle mode where “early empire” was a dead end tech. As a result, none of the AI ever bothered researching it, so I had free open borders with everyone else for the whole game. That was a weird game.
I wish there were more videos like yours. You have the right amount of explaining and pacing in your videos. Most people are too quick, slow, or very uninformative.
I get that this is a basics video so what I'm about to say isn't really a critique of the contents but more like a pointer for people who want to play on a difficulty higher than King: - Opening border to AIs without getting anything in return only helps the AI. Always ask for gold in return. - Don't open your borders to warmonger AIs. Fog of war makes them less interested in attacking you. If you let them scout you chances are they'll declare war on you. - In higher difficulties you shouldn't be going for neither buildings first. You should instead build a scout and a few slingers to rush archery. This is especially true if you want to do some conquering of your own early on, which you absolutely should do when possible, even if you're going for a diplo or culture victory. - Gold is a resource to be spent and AIs are sneaky AF when it comes to grabbing tiles that are within 3 tiles of one of your cities. You should always buy valuable tiles as soon as you can.
I should clarify the buildings part was what to build first in cities that aren't your first. My most popular short is actually what to build first in the capital. I agree with everything else though. I try not to delve too deep into strategies to not overwhelm new players, but I always appreciate comments like yours that expand further on the concepts for other people who wish to learn more.
I did not know open borders contributes to tourism and improves relations. I always denied a Civ’s open border request portion from negotiations but kept everything else in the negotiations. My concerns, they would sneak attack later, but I now see, there are benefits.
So watching thru your videos it seems there is mechanics in the video that i do not have in game, is it cause i dont have the gathering storm dlc or do i not have some addon clicked on
The fact that the only way to have open borders with city states is to suz them is the worst mechanic in the entire game. Please, let me play them some money for open borders or something.
Fun fact, buying tiles with gold does not increase the culture cost of the next tile growth via culture!
Is this even if you move from the second ring to the third ring? I always assumed they were harder for the city to grow to
@@wilko9346 A normal assumption, but there is no difference in culture cost of tiles between 2nd, 3rd, even 4th and 5th ring!

Yeah most Civ how to vids are just “this happens cuz this happened” without explanation
I know civ 6 is basically end of life, but I really hope you come back for the civ 7 release with this kind of quality. Love these videos
Tbf I start like a year and a half ago, so consider civ 6 my warm up before tackling civ 7 next hear
Shiiiit I still play civ3 civ rev, and 6. I'm taking 3 days off work for civ7
You are literally the best civ video creator for information being easy and stuck to the game and not so much of opinions but options! Love it.

I had no idea city state borders expand when a civ sends them an envoy!!
glad i found your channel, very cool
1:12 wait, i thought outside of the 3 border tile it didn't gave tourism any improvement and it didnt received the energy

I think builders can also work on allies' empire and citystates
City-states yes, allies I don't believe so
Please do a War/ units series next, and let me know if i can support you in any way
Is there a mod to allow you to work 4th ring and up?
le red arrow :)
Can we have video about Popicies?
So watching thru your videos it seems there is mechanics in the video that i do not have in game, is it cause i dont have the gathering storm dlc or do i not have some addon clicked on
If it's the background footage it might be my UI mods
@RidicAcidic that could be it but there more too it, like the senate board , and governors
Pls make gameplay of yours
How does the tile cost increase ?
A tile 3 hexes away from a city center is more expensive to purchase than one 2 hexes away
