for the dust collection pipe... Suspend the pipe from the middle of the table on the long edge on the dust collection side. Then move the router to the diagonally opposite corner. Now connect the pipe to the router so that it hangs from the middle and will reach each corner. No rails needed and the pipe won't twist etc.
For dust collection we started out with hose suspended from string on a track but ended up putting in a boom arm made out of the same external diameter tube as the internal diameter of the flexible hose. That way the boom covers most of the table and you only need relatively short peices of flexible to reach the gantry.
I think for your dust collection you could do the same thing that they use in a car wash with the hand wand. Let it slide back and forth for the length of the bed. And leave enough slack for the cross cuts.
For the vacuum system maybe try a single track that then leads to and flat rod with two eye hooks with the flat rod being able to rotate independently.
Jordan, Sam excellent work love how you guys check your work and square as you go can’t wait to watch Jordan slay some slabs on this thing I work at a cabinet shop and we use bungee cords to suspend our dust collection to the CNC definitely not as sleek as the pocket rail system but definitely efficient as the CNC moves away the hose moves with but also contracts as the CNC returns to 0,0 keep up the great work guys! Also I think if you were to move the rails to one side of the CNC vs directly over it might pull it easier and only give the CNC enough hose to go end to end when we got out second 4x8 CNC I did the dust collection and gave it to much hose and the CNC would catch the hose and rip it off very frustrating but you guys will figure it out I’m sure of it!
im a cnc techniction for a major cnc/edgebander manufactoring and damn you guys did an awesome job :) if you guys ever go full production mode making kitchens/cabinetry and need an upgrade id love get you guys hooked up. as always great great great work!
@@jordanheider2662 If you do upgrade, go with a Beisse! Hands down best on the market. We have the Rover AS FT in our cabinet shop. The one I bought was expensive, but it paid for itself within months. You can literally load it with a lift of ply/MDF/etc. and let it run 24-7 with little downtime. Obviously, something that large isn't logical for everyone, but Beisse makes affordable options for every shop. And like any tool, buy the biggest you can afford so you're not rebuying in a few years. Avid makes a great tool, but it's time to go from hobby level to pro level.

Looks like you guys need a rigid swinging arm for the hose. Do solid pipe along the wall about 8 ft, then a big swingin boom arm that reaches to about the middle of the cnc. Run your hose up and over that for moral (and physical) support.
Join your two rails together with a bridging rail and then put another slider across it... just like your cnc is made. On the side closest to the Dusty put a couple extra wheels so the hose concertinas.
Wowers that's definitely big and beefy. Congratulations on your new tool / Toy. Can't wait to see more videos soon John and the boys. Keep up the great craftsmanship and hard work my friends. Keep making. Stay squirrely. Keep making. God bless.
Nice setup! I can see you guys putting a sheet of ply on the back and letting the robot chew on it while setting up something in the front. Then swap to the chow line in the front, etc. So basically Miss Piggy can be eating with very little downtime.
Put masking tape over the corner the material makes with the MDF. It creates a stronger suction and will keep material from breaking vacuum with the table. If the machine gets hung up in the material, it will move it on the table even with the vacuum; especially smaller pieces
Making it out at a young age is quite difficult. I started a side hustle at 17, saved up and made some good investments. l'm 28,live on my own and having a good life for myself. Big ups to you and everyone out there trying
@Hoshi Fuyo Yes it sure is. I put in money in investments and get profits. That 's how I make more money without working. This does not sound new to you right ?
@Ibrahim faizan Yes I recommend the service of Lynne Ellen Rule she is a great financial consultant and has made a great impact on my financial journey.
How about a boom arm that has a extension mechanism and pivots mounted on the wall and centered on the cnc table? Something like what Festool sells for their vacuum hose but way cooler...
If the dust collection hose solution was mine to figure out, I'd look into installing a "self-service car wash" boom arm contraption up top. Just an idea from a touring musician turned woodworking hobbyist after covid decimated my industry. Love the channel, would love to meet you guys up in PA one day.
Wish I had a shop where space was plentiful, but for now my garage will have to work....but I am still jealous! Btw, you should have cut in some PVC unions,, because you never no when you will need to take it apart. I hope you never drop anything in any of the dust ports.
We do the sake thing with our CNC here in Meyersdale PA. we are a custom table company and make and sell all kinds of cool stuff. Look up Clapper Tables Enterprise when ya get a chance if ya wanna.
Miss piggy looks awesome. I’m waiting to see how you guys build the doors for Miss Piggy I have a similar situation for my doors for a spray booth but my opening is 8‘6”x 8’6” . So I’m waiting patiently for content on that. Shop is looking awesome
Expert level of patience shown here, lol. I was considering adding a vacuum table to my 4x4 CNC but wasn't sure if you could also have dog holes on the spoil board. Does having the open dog holes impact the vacuum pressure?
Years ago I worked for an employer who left to me figuring out and understanding a vital software for running their business. long story short I eventually had the owner by the short and Curlies because without me he couldn’t run his own software which ran the entire business. The moral here is the boss or owner should always without exception no more about their business than any employee at all times. Hard pipe to the ceiling at the mid point of the bed then use flexible pipe to the gantry. This will reduce the extra movement in the dust collection
