- Why Is UA-cam Blocking AdBlock?! Why is UA-cam Adblock not working? What is the UA-cam adblock ban? When did Adblock stop working on UA-cam? Why is Adblock not working on UA-cam? UA-cam adverts are everywhere, from unskippable ads to Display Ads to mid roll ads, we see youtube ads everywhere, and it's how content creators get paid. But many people circumnavigate ads by using Adblock, or a similar adblock software to skip the youtube ads and head straight to the content they want to watch. But as of October 2023, UA-cam blocked adblock, meaning adblock stopped working on youtube and UA-cam added a message saying they would block the content unless users stopped using adblock on UA-cam. It's left many asking the question of why would UA-cam need to block adblock software. Why are youtube blocking ads now and is there any fix for the youtube ad block issue.

Why is that people are okay with paying for Netflix but not for UA-cam?
Because UA-cam started as a free to use service provider. People are habituated to using it like that. And then when Google gathered a good number of users, they started pushing ads, which is kind of cheating.
This is kind of changing the status quo and so this will never happen.
Not me, I downloaded Firefox which runs my ad blocker fine on UA-cam. I hope ad block creators keep working around UA-cam's bullshit and if there ever comes a day where they can't I am done with UA-cam. I'll go back to reading books in my free time, probably better that way anyway.

maybe if ads were so obnoxious, repetitive, and pervasive then ad blockers wouldnt be an issue. theyre just upset they cant put two 15 second unskippable ads before a video, 4 ads during the video, and 2 more ads at the end to make money and then turn around and sell your data too.
Maybe we wound't have to use Adblockers if UA-cam ads weren't annoying and constantly showing even for 10 sec videos.

Started to watch Matt Christenson this morning, ads every three minutes and he's demonetized then I remembered he's also elsewhere. Went and watched him there. It made me happy.
Wrong. I would use an adblocker to block any ad. There is no such thing as an ad that isn't annoying.
the ads they do run are so intrusive and sociopathic. it's not like the ads on cable tv in the 90s where advertisers actually had to make people laugh and actually like their product or service through the ad.
UA-cam ads were not that annoying until video ads came in to play. I'd still prefer non-video ads to support creators.
Or a lower subscription with more benefits, UA-cam are acting like gangsters trying to shake down users.

The whole argument about ads paying content creators is ridiculous. UA-cam has such awful rules related to demonetization and copyright strikes that you can never be really sure that the ad revenue is actually going to the content creator you want to support. A lot of creators have already started finding alternative, better sources of revenue so the only one this benefits is UA-cam themselves.
Plus, it sounds like they weren't even losing money, they just weren't earning money faster that they were before. That's such a disgustingly greedy reason to ruin things for so many people.
And UA-cam premium is far far too expensive.

Ads aren't just annoying and intrusive they also suck up a lot of data on your cellular plan which is not free.

I was watching a gardening video which was 8 minutes long. There were 3 ads (10 - 30 seconds) throughout 8 mins, NONE of which had anything to do with the content creators of that video. You greedy bastards, I'll just continue to test other ad blockers, I will NEVER use youtube premium.

Honestly I would disable my adblock if they removed unskippable ads that are more than 5 seconds at the start and in the video, and instead let them at the end and also the image/text ads instead of video ads are fine
I moved to Rumble. The content is not as extensive but it has the channels I watch... and as this video was embedded somewhere else. No ad appeared.
Ads do not support content creator, because it makes penny on the dollar.

The problem with ads is that they get in the way of the video. If you want to put ads on the side of the video player like they used to be, fine by me. If they interrupt while the video plays, if they insert writen messages in the video player or if they force me to watch one, two, three ads before each and every single video then I'm out.
Rumble, Odysee, Bit Chute and others have about 80% of the content I watch.

Honestly I wouldn't have any problems if they only allowed 5 second ads. Maybe even 2 of them would be okay. But I started having issues when it became 10-20 second long ads, and multiple of them after each other. AND my biggest problem is those that are literally minutes long, even if you can skip them you have to make an effort to pay attention to it and click skip. Like if I'm away from my computer but theres like music playing from youtube... I'd have to get up and skip the ad, unless I want to listen to something completely random for minutes. It's SO annoying. And repetitive, and pushy. I've never ever in my life made use of an ad, or clicked, or bought anything from an ad. Stupid and useless. If they push 30 second ads, and 10 ads right after each other... I'm out. They can't make me do that lol. And the thing is at the end of the day, content creators will suffer if people leave the platform. So much for "caring" about the creators.
Agreed. Should be relevant to the viewer based from viewing history and always be skippable. Just cause the person skipped it doesn't mean UA-cam didn't do their job putting the ad in the video whereas unskippables feel like they're being shoved down our throat so the likelihood of a person buying from a forced ad will be small to none and they should never pop up in music video's.. way to kill the vibe of the music

I get the 'Adblockers violate UA-cam's terms of service' message. The crazy thing is, that just by signing out I can watch videos again ...with my adblockers still activated ! I had to sign in again just to be able to post this comment. Make the most of this lifeline while you still can.
You don't even need to log out. Just copy and paste the link into a private browser window. They're not going to cut off their recruiting pipeline: letting people without an account watch for free. Google might try to disable this in the chrome browser, but just use a different browser.

If you don't want to bother with random adblockers and browsers to get around this, just click "share" on any video, then click "embed." The video will pop up with no ads.
Na just use a real add blocker to stop companies forcing rubbish on me.
If there was ONLY adds at the start I wouldn't care less for adblock. But watching a 1h video just to see an unskippable add EVERY 5 minutes, I resorted to use adblock. Its just dumb how they keep cutting the meat of every video in the middle of it.
And as many said already, content creator earn their money mostly through patreon and the likes, YT revenues (for content creator) is abysmally low. Seems like making 29 BILLION a year is just not enough for the company, lets ruin everyone's time instead for a less than 3% revenue income.
The fact that less than 1% of viewers uses adblock is only true if you look at the global users. Remove phone users and this number most likely jump to 70% or higher.

I used Adblock because completely irrelevant and obnoxious ads always disrupted videos, podcasts, music, and other things. I don't care if Google can't get two pennies out of six dozen ads, I just want to watch my videos in peace.

-Once in main vide enable to prevent mid roll ads.

Cumbersome? Yes. Effective? Lil bit. But for that 2 hours long music vudeo that 8.734 seconds was worth it

I was getting the annoying message for days about my adblocker.. so did some research. Tried a few "solutions" by others...., and eventually one worked. So if you want my advice, do some research to find a workaround.
I won't be naming the solution I found here however as the more people who use it, the more likely it is for youtube to invest time and resources into blocking it...

We wont ever watch these ads.. even if google wins and they somehow develop anti adblock so good that there is no way to block ads(very unlikely).. then I'd rather just not watch youtube at all, than watch these ads lmao. UA-cam is just a time waster anyway.

maybe have a fair amount of ads to make people not want to use adblock so they can get to their favourite content.

Trick, turn off your adblocker start a video and than turn your adblocker back on a can. At the start of the first video you probably see a ad but after that you will not say any more ads.
I think UA-cam now has a cookie on your computer telling youtube there is no adblocker or something like that.
I use U-block with U-matrix.

the thing is if you disable it referesh, then reload the page, the UA-cam scripts is going to run. so there is no sense turning it on/off
theres no chance in hell youtube is getting that 0.6% profits, majority of adblocker user will never sign up for youtube premimum or ever click any ads UA-cam serves, and just continue to find loopholes like signing out of UA-cam, alternative apps/sites, auto skip or muting ads, disabling autoplay on UA-cam (this alone breaks all video ads for me lol), or just updating/changing their adblocker or using a different browser. There are a lot of ways to have an adfree youtube experience even without ad blockers. The best bet for UA-cam is its going to LOOK like adblock users are seeing ads when in reality they are not.
Well, the reason T.V. channels were losing viewers was among other things commercials, not a few but 40% of a hour, that was too much for most people and so the internet and UA-cam provided a nice, quick bit of entertainment, but this will shift a good amount of people elsewhere. you have in video sponsorship now and put 30 second advertisements on top and UA-cam will go the way of My Space and something will take its place.
ads are fine if they dont abused by 5 second ad with 5 second timer on the spot for skip, ads at the end of the video (makes you think the video is unfinish to stall you from auto-play), FIVE ads in TEN or less minutes video. most content creators have sponsors, community, merchstore already and most of them have another career outside of YT. with demonetization i doubt they are making as much as their other sources.

I've been really keen, hoping to find a new alternative. When that happens, I will leave UA-cam. I already stopped using other Google products. The only reason I am using Google is because of UA-cam. Hoping for a new competitor

I had my TV service turned off because there were more ads than actual useful programming. Back then, YT ads were short, and always at the beginning of videos. If I found an advertisement interesting, I'd watch it. If not, I'd skip it. We had a choice on YT, unlike on TV. YT eventually started doing the same thing TV does. More useless (and un-skippable) ads than actual useful content. That was when I became interested in ad blockers.
They've made it clear that they only care about profit now. Their creators and users have become too dependent on the platform, so YT stopped caring about them. If they ever find a way to actually force ads on viewers, I'll turn off YT just like I did with TV. Most of YT is just BS and scams now anyways (just like TV).

It was when I discovered that the ads were making UA-cam videos slow to load and buffering that I installed Adblock it was after that the videos were quicker and never buffered.
Just give the youtube viewers an option to click on a Ad link in the morning that we can walk away from and not watch which shows 1hr of ads we wont ever purchase. Then have an ad free day, these ads make youtube unbearable to watch. I stopped watching Cablevision 100% because of ads. Millions also gave up on cablevision and just have internet with a couple streaming services and youtube. Guess its time to giveup youtube and social media.

The few times I do need to watch it for things like "how to change your cars water pump" ill just download the video via free websites and play it back locally on my device. I honestly am just burned out , for life , with video advertisements. Besides honestly MOST people use the UA-cam app on their devices to watch UA-cam so the vast majority watch the adds. I don't even know anyone else that refuses to use the app like i do.

our group is removing all music videos from youtube as for my own videos i removed most of them just keeping a few short ones all due to youtube adverts.

My opinion is that it seems from some channels YT is making it harder for them to earn from it and now are paying less. This seems to have inspired a crack down on ads. Me personally that some of the board members, owners and perhaps channel operators is that they are missing those huge abilities to buy more houses and cars you know capitalist greed nickel and diming people for minute ways to rake them in.
Now I've started clicking off videos if there's too many ads. These ads are just annoying asf!
use ublock origin and purge all the caches in the ublock settings to update the ublock origin to the latest version

I cant think of any ad I would be interested in watching and or buy product since youtube has started doing that. It pushes irrelevant ads down my throat about car insurance while they know I dont have a driving licence/ car or interest in those. Same with hookups apps and so on. I feel I have no power over what type of ads I wish to see so both sides might be satisfied.
As a gamer I might have seen only couple of ads featuring games i would have been interested in and those were the blockbusters anyway so They never hit my niche taste or give me something usefull to me.
And the way they ramping up the amount of ads in every video is unreasonable. Unskippable before, inside and after the video unproportionate to the viewing time of the video itself. Very scummy practice only the execs can think of. No trying to appeal to the wievers whatsoever to make it easier to swallow. Just head on waste of time till you click skip as a punishment for using the platform.
I have found a fix. I now skip the ads. And no more UA-cam popups saying remove ad blockers.
