- Enjoying a cigar and its individual flavor is a personal experience and should in no way be dependent on the experience and opinion of others who enjoy the same cigar.

Hi Dewayne, I just wanted to drop a note! Most people don't realize how difficult it is to speak and articulate on a topic for an 11 minute video - not to mention with no cuts or edits. You're doing a fantastic job with all these videos, and creating an online community around Dry Creek Wrangler School. You feel like an older father figure, talking about important life lessons and passing those along to the younger generation (like me!). Don't ever stop teaching - you're far too valuable of a resource for people like me. Thank you!
@@huss1205 That's now how his name is spelled. Check out the other videos/website, thanks!
Well said
We’ll said! I especially love the cigar content
This dude wants to correct someone else on how to their name lol. He reads your whole post and his brain goes directly to trying to correct you to make himself feel better. He doesn’t comment on your positive outlook or anything along the lines of cigars, nope he sees an opportunity to belittle someone and goes directly for it. That’s the kind of ho-ness that you’re born with.
Very well put. I agree 100 per cent. I don’t usually taste all of the spices and stuff. I smoke a cigar and if I like it, I smoke it again.
I had not thought of cigars until i stumbled onto your channel. I watched you smoke a cigar and discussed it. I thought “that looks good”. Then I recalled that a coworker gave me a humidor 12 years back when I was retiring. I rummaged around and found it. Then conditioned it and went to the local cigar store. I bought 2 Macanudo Cafe cigars. Later I barbecued some pork ribs and fries. Then later sat on my patio with my cigar and 2 fingers of Jack Daniels. What a great experience. Solitude, classical music, blue sky turning orange with the sunset and a thought of gratitude that you opened a door to a new experience. I won’t be anything but an occasional smoker but I will enjoy each experience like the first one.
That is pretty cool. I really enjoyed that story and it was an encouragement to me. Thank you for that.
thats what cigars is all about, enjoying life
The Macanudo Hyde Park Cafe is my go to cigar👍
Excellent I love it! I do quite the same 2 nights in the barn, I have a "spare" tack room I turned into my private getaway. I'm a classic country guy, but this here gets me with a good glass of Woodford Reserve Double Oaked and a Macanudo.. ua-cam.com/video/1eNSWZ4x2ZU/v-deo.html
What a lovely story. Thanks for sharing that. I love when I can have some nice evenings to myself that come about half way close as nice as that sounds.
It's not a cigar lesson, it's a life lesson. Thank you, Sir.
Thats 1000% True 😊
His videos and chats are poetry
Looking forward to enjoying another stick and conversation with you.
I’ve missed you at the cigar lounge last two or three times I’ve been in. Hope you are doing well, I look forward to seeing you soon
The Marlboro man didn’t die… he got better taste in tobacco
I follow zero cigar channels, nor do I know anything about ranching and horses, but after watching one cigar video I had to subscribe.
Dewayne - a friend of mine sent me a link to your Video saying you gave me a "Shout Out" - first off, thank you. And yes, you are 100% right, almost all cigar smokers can not identify individual flavors and it is not necessary in anyway whatsoever to be able to do so. Often times many of the people who do use overly descriptive terms are really parroting what others have said. As a lifelong tobacco buyer, blender, factory operator and brand owner, I can tell that those of us on the actual growing and manufacturing side do not typically use this type of terminology between ourselves when describing leaf or cigars, BUT we do when trying to explain experiences to consumers. Your coffee analogy was spot on btw. I use a very simple "rule of thumb" when working leaf and on cigars: Does it make my palate moist as I smoke it? Flavors I enjoy make me drool, flavors I don't make my mouth dry - so if a cigar doesn't make my palate moist, separate of all the other factors including "raisins and chocolate", ratings, other's advice it simply is not a good cigar for me. I just want to say "thank you" for sharing your enjoyment of fine handmade cigars with you audience. I think a lot of folks if they had the opportunity to be introduced to good cigars would find it a really great way to relax and add enjoyment to their lives. Forces you to slow down a little and appreciate life's blessings. ps: Yes, I know a lot about tobacco, but I don't know d*ck about horses. Guess I gotta browse some of these videos...
Steve - I’m honored to have you stop by and comment. Thank you. It is a tremendous validation for me that you concur with my own simple statements and opinions on this subject.
Steve, it’s awesome to stumble across your comment here. I bought a Krakatoa for my brother to honor his graduation from college. Perhaps it was to remind him that savoring a victory isn’t a finish line…but the right victory is still worth properly savoring. Thank you for all you do.
If anyone ask why I smoke cigars, I will use your quote “Forces you to slow down” It really does, amid constant connectivity and information overload, taking a moment to slow down allows for introspection, mindfulness, and a break from the hustle. It promotes well-being, reduces stress, and enables a deeper appreciation of the present moment.
Keep doing more cigar content. I’m not into horses but I watch your videos for your personality and wisdom. I can relate more to your cigar content. Have a good day buddy.
That's a complete lesson for life! Enjoy what you enjoy, endure what you have to, and keep on keeping on.
Well said Dwayne. I as well am a cigar smoker, and that’s how I came across your channel. I don’t pick up crazy flavors, but same as you I know what I like and don’t like. Please keep the cigar content coming!
Wow, the way he turned "enjoying a cigar flavor" into "enjoying a life's flavor" dude speaks better than most of my Ph.D. professors.
Thanks Dwayne. You are exactly right. I've been smoking cigars for over fifty years and I don't taste all the things I hear others talk about. Like you, I know what I like and just enjoy the experience.
Watching your videos convinced me to try cigars after quitting smoking cigarettes 10 years ago. I went to my local smoke shop and bought 3 cigars. Bought a cutter and torch lighter too, about 50 bucks. Your calmness and relaxed attitude in these videos made me think I would feel the same. I didn't. Thank you for helping me realize that smoking, anything, isn't my thing. I have from now on resolved to only enjoy things I like to do. Thank you Dwayne, I really enjoy watching your videos. Maybe one day I can visit you at your wrangler school
It's more of a mindset than a feeling any substance can give you. For me I like the calming effect tobacco can give, but too much can elevate heart rate and blood pressure increasing anxiousness. Take a breather and relax. Only smoke when you're not doing anything. It's not for everybody though. I enjoy smoking but not cigarettes. It can be a nasty habit.
@@LyonHeartMusici can feel you. It can be like a bit of meditation.
I’ve been a smoker since I was 9 years old I’m 34 now. Smoked my first Cigar at 10 years old. I’ve been off and on but I am addicted to cigarettes and I’m not proud of it at all. Cigars were always different for me and I only smoke them when I’m in the mood. Cigarettes will kill you Cigars will make you live longer. My Cuban grandfather puffed Habanos his whole life until he had to get a throat tumor cut out of his throat. He died at 98 years old. It’s all about what you enjoy as a man. Nothing in life is guaranteed so enjoy how your feeling in the moment cause tomorrow could be totally different
Do not judge your success based on someone else’s success. 100 percent, I needed this.
You hit the nail on the head! Count me in on the “good-not good” crowd. For me, Perdomo cigars are the bomb - excellent construction, excellent burn, excellent flavors & a top notch company & owner (not to mention, great prices!). Great video, as always, sir!
Definitely agree with you on this man. The picking out of every note within cigars along with whiskeys comes off as sort of pretentious. I enjoy a good quality cigar but I don’t over analyze every component within it. I relax and unwind after a long day with a nice stoogie to clear my mind.
Enjoy the way you explain the cigars and how you look at life . My good lady is in New York in vacation from the UK as we speak and have instructed her to get some cigars from over there on the advice of yourself. Charter oak , Partagus Black label . Looking forward to it . Keep the videos coming . Craig UK
Hi Dewayne, I am 75 years old and have been smoking cigars for about 20 years. I would say I am a casual smoker and have to smoke outside, so I am dependent on the weather. I have also listened to Cigars Daily and many other cigar channels and for years I have been struggling with tasting all the flavors the experts talk about. Thank you for your comments about knowing if you like a cigar or not. That is something I can identify with. Keep up the good work.
I’m having my first cigar after a couple of years, I didn’t have much enjoyment from them, but then I watched your video from a couple months ago. You said, “take your time with it. Slow down, it’s about relaxation” Boy, what a change it made. There’s no heat in my mouth, no scorching, just great flavor. Thanks for the videos.
Wow, the part about not measuring your success by other people's success, that was absolutely brilliant. Thanks !!!
Thank you for making your cigar videos. You have awakend the cigar aficionado in me.
Your cigar content mixed with life lessons is the best on internet. Keep it up!
I once smoked a cigar that tasted like an old car I pulled out of a barn, fixed up and had some fun with it. Old car interior smell mixed with old gasoline. I loved that cigar!
And thanks for the words of wisdom!
Right there with you Bro! Either I like it, or I don't. Enjoy your cigar videos!
Your one of the few, and I mean few, of the channels I watch that I click like before I watch! Can't agree with you more on everything you talk about. Always learn some things too! Glad things are going so well for the school and your family! Blessings.
I agree
Thank you, thank you, thank you! All I get is good or not good. And if it's good I love every minute of it.
Did anyone else try to predict what his voice would sound like and after hearing the deep voice, felt relived that it matched what you expected? Lol
Keep up these videos Dewayne. I'm enjoying them immensely! Started with your cigar videos, but you've got your head on straight about.... life. Thanks!
I know this video is old but I have been trying to catch up. You inspired me to smoke cigars over cigarettes. I bought 3 Montecristo Classic today and have been enjoying them with my macallan 12 year scotch today. Thank you Dewayne for all that you do. Hope all is well!
These words are gold. I’m learning many things from you lately that I didn’t learn my whole life. Thank you very much kind sir. I feel so relaxed after listening to you.
There are only a handful of people in this world I enjoy listening to and you are one of them...thank you
Good advice! I love having a glass 🥃 of Southern Comfort with mine! For me, every Friday I relax with a nice cigar just to unwind, enjoy, and “meditate” in my own way!
Great video!
I have enjoyed watching your videos. Thank you for sharing your knowledge in such a humble, down to earth, practical, and honest manner.
Brilliant video Dwayne, slowly learning what I like in a good cigar. Finding it hard to describe what makes a cigar good/bad, but enjoying the process.. Appreciate the time you put into this!
This was really fantastic, Dewayne. I've enjoyed cigars for years and I loved your explanation and walkthrough of enjoying a cigar. Cheers!
You are an absolute joy to listen to. Just wonderful. Thank you so much. 👍
The fact that he can carry on without stopping or any edits, is insane !! I need those skills.
Dewayne! I just got into cigars a month ago, having a great time and exactly to your point - I've been trying to get these flavors from cigar reviews. Love what you said about enjoying our own personal cigar experiences!! Happy smoking and life man.
Thank you! You hit the nail on the head of how I feel when I smoke cigars! I think we just take it as a whole instead of diving it up into different notes. Love your videos please keep it up.
Damn you nailed it! “Don’t determine your success, based on the success of somebody else”!
Dewane , how wonderful to be able to turn smoking a cigar into such a life lesson , really knocked me out🥰
Sir, I’ve just discovered your channel today via one of those UA-cam random recommendations. I’m loving it all! And here’s the thing: I’ve been retired since 2014 and have still not learned the real art of chilling and letting go and slowing down and just enjoying and counting the blessings in life. Some other time I’ll maybe tell you about how I got into cigars (still a novice), but you’re right when you say that they’re a great way to zone out and relax. Except your videos are now tutoring me in how to do it right and I’m so grateful to you for this.
Now, this particular video has taught me something else and that is that I no longer need to feel ashamed or doubt myself because I don’t get the “toasted coconut, cedar wood, Ecuadorean roast chocolate, pine nuts, wild blackberries” or whatever that the big aficionados describe. I either enjoy it or I don’t. But now I know that that’s ok.
Tell you what. I’m taking you (on my iPad) the next fine evening and I’m going to sit under the trees at the back of my house and light up a Por Larranaga, with a Scotch, and just enjoy a few of your chats. I love your wisdom and your homespun honesty. You’re great company. Thank you for all you’re doing. It’s greatly appreciated.
Love this. I'm a good/not good guy myself, and it's good to hear someone who looks at it simplistically. Thanks for this, Dewayne
This the most comprehensive explanation of smoking cigars I’ve heard so far,I thought it was something wrong with me because I didn’t get those flavor notes.Thank you sir for the education!!!👍🏿💯
The wisdom in this man is incredible. Great video!
almost at 1m ! congrats Dewayne started watching all your cigar vids ages ago but noticed my friends sharing your advice to youngsters vids . I'm glad your vids have reached people around the world. pretty neat finding you early on.
Perdomo habano is phenomenal the Sun grown is my favorite!
Much appreciated Brother! Respect from Southern AZ
You are one of my favorite UA-camrs to watch. Bryan Glenn with Cigar Obsession and yourself are tied for first. I enjoy watching him for his knowledge and enthusiasm with cigars, and I enjoy watching you for that and the wisdom you share. Please keep doing what you’re doing Mr. Dewayne. Thank you!
GREETINGS SIR AS WOMAN WHOSE RECENTLY FOUND YOUR CHANNEL I MUST SAY I REALLY AM ENJOYING YOUR DISCUSSIONS ON FINDING THE RIGHT CIGARS FOR EACH PERSONS INDIVIDUAL TASTE AND HOW IT'S ABOUT DEVOTING A SMALL PORTION OF EACH DAY TO OUR OWN PERSONAL SPACE AND THOUGHTS I CAME FOR THE HORSES AS MY DAD WAS A HORSE MAN BEFORE HIS PASSING BUT I STAYED FOR YOUR VALUABLE LIFE LESSONS TY YOU BROUGHT BACK MANY WONDERFUL MEMORIES OF MY DAD TO MY HEART HAVE A GREAT BLESSED WEEKEND SIR
why are you writing in all caps
Well said! I love your take on it, your advice, & your attitude about it. Perfect!
Nailed it! I totally agree with you. Keep the cigar stuff coming.
I really like this guy, I just got into cigars and was really intimidated but excited and this guy just makes me feel like I belong. Thank you!
I’m relatively new to cigars and I really thought I was the only one. I had one stick I really loved and I wasn’t picking up on any of the flavors that others did. I really enjoyed it though. I needed to hear this !
I love this line of thinking. Guitars, beer, wine, coffee. I’m clueless when compared to the aficionados. It all comes down to good or bad for me. I appreciate you
Funny timing, I just tried one of those on Saturday. When I finished it I quickly shared with some friends that I have a new favorite cigar.
I recently got into smoking cigars. And I've tried so hard to distinguish the flavors and thought I guess it just takes time. You just made my cigar experience more enjoyable. Thank you for taking the guess work out and showing me that it's OK to just enjoy what I enjoy.
I just subbed to you. I really liked this video. Greetings from the Netherlands 🇳🇱
Y'know this is actually really cool to hear someone else say this. With lots of stuff like whiskey, cigars, etc, I had legit the same kind of thought like "Wow I'm really unrefined, I can't pick the flavors out I just know that I like it!" Hahah! I guess people naturally expect the pinnacle from themselves when it takes time to be so experienced at something and I think thats a valuable lesson.
Dwayne you are the real life Sam Elliot. Except your mustache is much better. If this don't get to the top of the comments then I'm doing something wrong. Best facial hair on UA-cam.
Sam Elliot is a real person.
Even better with the beard now
The absolute epitome of a man. We need you and more like you!!!!!
You hit the nail on the head for me. I suppose I’m not so new to cigars but it was nice to hear someone say it just about how I would. You are also smoking one of my daily drivers in this video the Perdomo Habano Maduro. I really enjoy this cigar
You are 100% correct sir! Thanks for the conversations you have. Just liked and subscribed. Keep smoking the good sticks and find time to relax and enjoy.
love your content, especially your cigar chats! If you like Zippo I highly recommend the Vector Thunderbird inserts, the fuel storage is larger than the Zippo inserts. They also have one that looks just like an old school Zippo insert with the flint wheel and soft flame but uses butane instead of lighter fluid! Thats the one I got and its great, it can use the old Zippo flints which are replaceable.
Just like that cigar rep made you feel good about yourself, you just made me feel good about myself because every time I smoke cigars I'll be sitting there trying to pick out flavor notes 😆. Very thoughtful video and I agree you shouldn't compare your success to other's success and be your own yardstick that was deeply insightful thank you DeWayne.
Hi Dewayne,
I’ve been following your channel since your first cigar video. Congrats on all of your success! I had a cigar with Nick Perdomo yesterday and sent him a link to this video. He was very pleased and honored that you enjoyed his cigars! I wouldn’t be surprised if he contacted you in the future. Keep up the great work and stay healthy!
Scott
Life's funny, I started watching this channel for the cigar videos lol but I've been subbed now for a bit and have to say I'll never own horses due to a severe allergy. But I love this channel. It helps my cigar enjoyment. Kudos . I shared it in my cigar group in Facebook some of the guys loved it too
Great video! The analogy to Maxwell House ought to be standard watching for cigar smokers, especially those like me who after a few years are still developing their palate. I am definitely glad to hear someone say they group their cigars into “like/don’t like.” I can definitely pick up certain flavors, and there are cigars I used to not enjoy that I truly appreciate now.
And this definitely goes for pipe tobaccos as well. There are so many great pipe tobaccos I smoke and my pallet isn’t refined to give a detailed description but I know what I like. I can actually find a way to appreciate any pipe or cigar.
Hi Dewayne, I stumbled upon your channel and immediately subscribed. You truly are a brother of the leaf and every cigar smoker experiences their own flavors which is subjective. Like you say, you taste the flavors from your pallet (roof of your mouth), top of your tongue and retrohaleing. I am from the Northeast of the US and a long time premium cigar smoker since the late 1980's. Like the majority of Americans I have smoked New World Cigars (non-cuban cigars) but have since been converted to mostly Cuban cigars because my pallet has steered me in that direction. There was a time in my younger days when I never met a cigar I did not like, lol. I greatly understand your video on cigar lounge experiences and can also relate to that. I too, have many good positive stories and friendships from the cigar community. Keep it coming and stay safe BOTL!
I get good! That is the best description for a cigar I've ever heard. Simply because that is exactly the way I explain it and exactly the reason I like a cigar.
I love this video so much. I tried a Charter Oak recently and enjoyed it very much. Such a quality talk. Thank you.
I can empathise with the non stop rain. Here on the east coast of Australia it's yet another week of non stop rain and risk of flooding . Missed out on camping again !
Love the channel Dwayne. Best of luck with the school.
Really enjoy your videos, thanks for your time..
I don't even smoke, but your video still made alot of sense for me involving coffee instead of cigars. Bought all these different beans that where supposed to have chocolate, raisins, or citrus, etc etc. I can't taste any of that. It's ether good or bitter and bad.
I really enjoy and appreciate your insight. Thank You.
Great video sir as usual
Its great that you are gently removing the veil of snobbery that can envelope the cigar hobby.bravo!
Just stumbled across your videos whilst researching cigars. I received my first online delivery of cigars yesterday.
I love whisky and red wine, but I can’t taste or recognise all the flavours as described by the aficionados. I either like it or I don’t.
This video is a timely reminder as I start my cigar smoking journey to not get bent out of shape if I don’t taste the cedar, dark chocolate, leather, dried fruit, walnut, etc etc……
Keep up the great work and a big wave to you from Southern Australia.
This helps tremendously and simplifies my cigar experience. Thanks.
I’m showing this video to anyone who asks me about tasting cigar flavors. What a masterful video. And i’m saving this as a quote to remember: “It’s your cigar, it’s your time.” Beautifully said, sir, this is why I smoke cigars and why I subscribed to your channel!
Just had a Maduro my first cigar ever ..literally watched how to smoke one prior to it then stumbled towards your video..wow I feel great thanks sir
Love these cigar videos Dewayne. Great cigar too!
I’m glad I found this video, thought that I wasn’t getting to know my cigar palette. I either liked them or I didn’t. Now I’m on the right track, enjoy what I like not what someone else says they taste. Thank you!
Well said my friend. I started smoking a pipe 5 months ago and I hear the same thing about what other smokers get out of tobaccos. I’m realizing I need to like what I like and enjoy it. Thank you
god bless you dewayne great job on the cigar info !! loved it you seem very down to earth !!!
You sir are a wise man! I wish I had a father that had your insight and simplicity, yet a way to translate your thoughts and wisdom.
So true!!
Such an honest opion on smoking cigars!
I find myself in the same boat as I've only started smoking cigars from Xmas 2023 and tried afew different brands and have found what I like and what I enjoy.
All the best 👍 👌
So humble, so sincere
Dude I thought I was the only one who got “good or not good” that makes me feel better. Keep on keepin on
Just lit up a Perdomo 20th anniversary moduro as well and happened across this video immediately! Couldn't have worked out any better
Man, I gotta tell ya…. I watch the same review guys all the time. Mostly, when smoking a cigar, I watch these guys so I can try and pick out the flavor notes they describe while I’m smoking…. And I never have any idea what they’re talking about 😂. Glad I’m
Not the only one who gets good or not good. Thank you sir
i really enjoyed this video. i smoke cigars and have been struggling to find flavor in my sticks as i had let my humidor run a little dry for over a month, thank you for the insight, i will just enjoy them for what they are worth now. take care.
Well...in this crazy world I took a few moments out of my day and watched your video. Not into horses but I do smoke cigars...you made my day. I am now subscribed to your channel. thank you sir
This is, I think the absolute best explanation on getting flavor out of a cigar that I think I've ever heard.....it takes years of smoking to develop a pallet, and until you do...just enjoy what you're puffing on that day....great video sir...thank you.
Great great video from now on that’s the way I’m gonna scale my cigars good or not good! I like what I like thank you for sharing
Dwayne..... I tried my first cigar thanks to your video and i absolutely enjoyed it. All before I didn't understand the point of smoking a cigar after watching you I truly understand what it meant.... Slowing down, unwinding and just overall relaxing... Every weekend that I'm off now, I make a fire in my out door pit. Smoke my cigar over a glass of scotch and just enjoy natural. Thanks again.....
I too have watched a number of videos about cigar culture and your videos are by far the easiest to relate to. I’m not a lounge smoker, I’m and outdoor, in nature, contemplative smoker. Thanks for the wonderful content.
Thank you...this has been the most insightful breakdown..
also i find that i like to have my cigar in my mouth for even up to multiple hours before i light. and even after i've finished smoking the cigar to a nub, i'll carry it around in my mouth. it just has so much flavor and allows me to spend time enjoying the "richness" of the cigar.
Thank you Sir.
I'm a fan of Perdomo cigars 👍
Loving the 10th anniversary box pressed 🔥🔥🔥
Amen brother. For the longest time, I’d watch reviews on cigars, and wondered what I was doing wrong. Well, I wasn’t doing anything wrong. I have come to the same conclusion that you have come to. I either like the cigar, it taste good to me, or I don’t like it. I have found out that the mood I’m in, the people I’m smoking with, what I’m having with the cigar, all affects how much I enjoy that cigar. Hope I’m making sense. I really enjoy your videos and the way you look at life.
