    Did you ever think about having the camera running during the actual replacement process?

    You're an amazing dad. My dad used to say, do you know why I make the wage I make? So I dont have to work on my own vehicle. He showed me how to change my own oil and drain my radiator. Thats it.
    Heck, when I was in 4th grade, the Boy Scouts showed up at our school and I asked him if he would go to the meeting with me. A parent was required to be there. We sat we listened and once they talked about us going camping.. He said that's it. Let's go. I did my gare share of camping in the Army. I'm not doing that anymore and neither are you! So that's as close as I got to being a Boy Scout. 😐
    But you.. Monkey see, monkey do. You're teaching your son more than working on his truck. You're teaching him about teamwork, not giving up when things get tough.
    Way to go dad.

      @@MrSavintheDay oh and by the way, I own a 2002 Tacoma V6 Prerunner.
      I guess its not all doom and gloom between my dad and I. I am no longer Boy Scout age. I'm 46. The 2002 Tacoma that I now own was my dads. I have been trying to buy this truck from him for several years now. Then after 15 years of the truck being his, he tells me, Jess u will sell it to you now. It's worth 9 grand. But to you I will take 4 grand. The day that I went to buy it from him, he said son.. I'm sorry but I cant sell it to you. I was lik WHAT?! Why not? I just sold my Honda.
      He cracked a smile and said, your mom said that I cant sell it to you. I have to give it to you to you 😱

    Thanks for the vid... And I Definitely agree with your commentary on people (kids) learning to be more self-reliant. If we parents continue doing everything for our kids past a certain age, they're going to be very timid and have no self-confidence.... in a very tough world ! My Dad (GOD rest his soul), was a Sgt. in the USMC weapons company, back in the 50's... I can assure you, I was taught to "Get my Ass in gear and go to work", at an early age. He was tough...and a good Dad. He taught me to be responsible, hard working and self-reliant. I was a very unhappy teenager at times, but now I'm very thankful for the way I was raised.

    How much of a play do you get when you pry down the rotor to fit the strut? So i guess u didnt have to disconnect lower control arms or sway bar to fit the new strut in. Thanks in advance!

    • @MrSavintheDay
      @MrSavintheDay  8 років тому +1

      Doesn't take a whole lot of movement, but some pretty good downward pressure.- Did not disconnect lower control arms, ect.

      R or L because he used quick Fit strut kit that included the upper plate, it is assembled for R or L, strut itself is same for both sides

      I've been told the drivers side coil spring in a different number to compensate for the battery and gas tank. Shock is the same.

    I remember doing my t100. took me the whole morning and a little over the afternoon to get done and that was in the summer. I'm in Ca so during that day it was about 105 degree weather. doing the rear end and front end by myself was a big head. took me about 30min to do the whole rear shocks, about 15min one side. but the from was different, I have to deal with heat and it was park on the side of the street without no shade. but I can take the shocks off without any problems but the new shocks are fatter so I have to ben the bottom mount plate that holds the shocks. well to make it end I was able to used a spare Jack wrench that has the flat head look to get the job done.

    Can you use the jack to jack up disc brake to put button bolt in?

    • @frankd8204
      @frankd8204 5 років тому

      Yes, I have done this many times, just be careful not to bend the dust shield. Also, you can use the block technique as described in this video to protect the bottom of the rotor and dust shield at the jack point.

    • @MrSavintheDay
      @MrSavintheDay  7 років тому

      Yes, took a lot of the bounce I was experiencing out of the front end. Noticed the most on highway bridge and pavement joints and rail road tracks that kind of thing.

    10 minutes of my life I will never get back. Dealing with seized nuts and bolts are all part of working on rusted, neglected clunkers like this one. Get over it. Why didn't you spend any time showing how the shock assembly was removed and replaced?
