This game really puts the Dragonball Z story into perspective. Replaying the story makes you realize that Goku is missing for the majority of the game, always doing some sort of special training far away from everyone else while they fight their asses off. THen he comes swooping in after his special training and saves the day. This game made me realize that it is the same formula in every arc (with a slight twist in the Cell saga, where he doesn't actually beat the bad guy in the end, but the formula still applies). In the game litterally named after Goku, he is the character you play the least as (with exception of Trunks of course, just because Trunks isn't in every Arc)
A cool Easter egg I noticed is when you have piccolo in your party and you make a full-course meal he just has a cup of water infront of him Edit: thanks for all the likes

Kakarot is the best overall DBZ game of all time because it combines the Legacy of Goku/Buu’s Fury style + the fighting mechanics of a Budokai/Tenkaichi. It isn’t perfect but it truly encompasses everything about the world of Dragon Ball
So Dragon ball z was supposed to be centered around gohan with goku being a "side" character. You can actually see this right up into the cell saga, after that it's pure goku.

I was annoyed when Goku first got to King Kai's planet and just casually jogs up to King kai, completely ignoring the 10x gravity. 🤔 Come to think of it, i can't remember the game mentioning Goku training at 100x gravity on his way to namek either, he just magically gets stronger after only a couple days training on his way to namek 😑

Also watched spanish dubbed back in the early 90's before anybody here in America knew anything about Dragon Ball. He doesn't say it. I love the game. I finished the game and basically collected all the characters. Being a gamer i want more and am expecting a lot of the expansions they put out. Hopefully there’s enough content for gamers like me.
Xenoverse is different as they hired two of the TFS actors to voice characters. Toei Animation does not like the TFS crew much as they have threatened to sue them more than once over the years. The most recent is before TFS reached the Cell Saga and content slowed BIG time and they made videos of why. So this game playing close to the anime will avoid TFS since it really pissed off Japan over the years. As much ad i love TFS. They dont need recognition in this game. At all.
Actually, the driving episode kinda WAS adapted from the original manga. It’s not completely filler. If you read the manga, then you know that the ‘cover’ page for each 16-page episode was often just an illustration of some kind featuring the dbz series characters. Well, for two consecutive episodes, Toriyama drew a picture of Goku and Picolo in the cars at the driving school. In the first, Picolo was driving and Goku was in the passenger seat giving advice, with a second car parked behind them. In the second, the scene is almost exactly the same, except they are now in the second car, and the car they were driving is now where the first one was parked. It is clearly wrecked. Goku, in the same pose, is now sweating, and Picolo, also in the same pose, is now red faced with concentration. So yeah, that whole filler episode was based on two pinup drawings Toriyama included as covers. I’m betting that’s the reason it was recreated here again.
I did one by pure mistake and I was like NOOO WAAAAYYY and after that tried to replicate it only to realise how stupidly hard it is to pull off, it's just dumb luck to get one lol.
If you are far enough and you know the enemy is doing a beam attack is pretty easy to do. The enemy just doesn't use their own bean attack that much. Plus is a lot better to just Dodge to the side and make them eat your beam attack with out any resistance
@@DR3S1NGH an easy way to pull it off is to hold the Super Menu button (L1) when you see the enemy flare up with a red aura. Their next attack will be displayed on the top right corner of the screen and if it's a beam super throw yours out as well. If you're far enough away for the attack to connect with each other it will activate.
I really like the fact you can make a "Energy blast fight" . Whatever we can call this. When both character use a blast attack at same time and they compete to see which one is stronger

It’s the little things that matter to me in a dbz game like manually doing the fusion dance or running snake way to kais planet or how in the old school games when you and piccolo team up to take down raditz you have to wiggle the analog stick and keep him in front of piccolo to get the shot off
Agreed, I've seen a couple places calling the driving episode an "infamous" filler or just straight up calling it bad.... and ... what? Everyone I knew who watched DBZ back then, loved that episode and still does. The only filler I remember people complaining about is Fake Namek. ... which isn't in this game, thankfully.
If you wait to complete the missions that need the Dragon balls to resurrect your enemies, only the one's Gohan can do, until he turns super sayian then go to complete those missions the NPC will comment on the different look compared to the pip squeak with black hair. Also, you do get rewarded with that enemies community emblem after winning the battle. One of the other videos on this subject didn't mention collecting the emblems, idk why they didn't but they are important and helpful.

Personally I think they really dropped the ball on mini games. I think it would have been awesome to actually do king Kai's training on his planet Or running on snake way. But maybe my expectations were just to high.
I don't have the game yet I'm about to buy it but the thing that's solidified the purchase for me is this one side quest 3:07 also at 5:28 the robots that they put in the Mecha suits those are the ones that destroyed Android 8 in sent kid goku into a rage so I like that

It’s the little things that matter to me in a dbz game like manually doing the fusion dance or running snake way to kais planet or how in the old school games when you and piccolo team up to take down raditz you have to wiggle the analog stick and keep him in front of piccolo to get the shot off

Agreed, I've seen a couple places calling the driving episode an "infamous" filler or just straight up calling it bad.... and ... what? Everyone I knew who watched DBZ back then, loved that episode and still does. The only filler I remember people complaining about is Fake Namek. ... which isn't in this game, thankfully.

If you wait to complete the missions that need the Dragon balls to resurrect your enemies, only the one's Gohan can do, until he turns super sayian then go to complete those missions the NPC will comment on the different look compared to the pip squeak with black hair. Also, you do get rewarded with that enemies community emblem after winning the battle. One of the other videos on this subject didn't mention collecting the emblems, idk why they didn't but they are important and helpful.

Personally I think they really dropped the ball on mini games. I think it would have been awesome to actually do king Kai's training on his planet Or running on snake way. But maybe my expectations were just to high.

Cyber Connect should this exact type of game but of the OG Dragon Ball. This game is super fun and definitely my favourite Dragon Ball game so far.
