Thanks again for all you do! And for being a good man! Your personality is encouraging!
bought my lp's last year and now i want to get these ones aghhhhhhhhhhh, all in all they sound fantastic i love them so much
I’m getting the new Kali IN-8 V2. I need more bass response and I love the front port design. Also they made the second wave 12db quieter from self noise. Can’t wait to get them 🤘🏻
I just got my LP6's last week. I'm really digging them.
Those bass ports are ENORMOUS!
Twenty years ago I wanted the Macrom by Morel I-5 or Integra series.. Very similar to Thiel CS-6 and KEF. Those look good by the way.
"Phase Coherent"
I have the LP6 in a small room and I love them!
I love them, it really surprised me how much low end you get from a 5 inch sub. I got some isoAcoustic pads on the bottom of them to clear up the rumble the low end was giving me on my desk. I feel like it's just real easy to reference something with these, and you don't really have to spend a lot of time on it, I just get my mix to sort of match the low end on another track and it translates really well.
I just got the Adam T8V's and wanted to get the Kali LP6 to pair with them for the mids, but now you have me thinking the IN5's are worth the extra money. I want the Adams to be my general use/moveable monitors. And need some flat mid range to be the main mixing speakers. Good review.
Kali IN-5's with the Kali Subwoofer. No money. Incredible sound.
Hey, thanks so much for your videos man, I like em !! A wanna ask you about something if I may. I got the KAli IN8's the other day and I love em. But I'm a few days away from ordering the A77x's also. Are you still using those ?
thx for this one. Do you have a link to and/or can you let me know what you have the Kali's sitting on when you cut away to that mixing desk shot ? thx. Greetings from Oz and NZ !!
1 pair of Kali Audio LP-6's for sale in perfect condition.......... 😲
I’ll give you 100 for the pair if they are white. Lol
@@MisterRorschach90 Nope and NOPE! 🤣
Just listened to all of your Kali tests. Good results, but the Neumann mixes always had just a little bit more presence. The Kalis are acceptable, but you didn't waste your money on the Neumanns. You can hear the money :)
Fluff, did you turn the sub off? It sounds like you left it on, and it thinned out your Kali mix.
i have the kali's laying down but have the subports turned on outside, not inside like seeing here. It is richt or wrong or don't matter?
As you talk and move your arm, the monitor on the left keeps swaying back and forth. Is that a loose cabinet or unleveled surface?
man that Neumann mix sounds FAAAAATTT!!!!
That's a great and a new way to compare monitors... maybe the best way...
IN5 VS KH120? WHICH WOULD U PREFER FOR MIXING AND MASTERING?
Fluff... What Monitor stands are those?
Thanks!!
Anything Kali Audio, even for those on a tighter budget?
Kali has more bass than Neumann, so there is less of it in the mix. But the bass can always be reduced with dsp on the monitors.
Does anyone know what stands are holding the IsoAcoustics? (2:52)
Hey all of you! In8 v2 or in5? room 20 m2 partial treatment (ceiling in progress) perfect clip for me btw
Big question is if you used your Neumann sub in the mix with the Kali's?
I did not
I don't get it. The nuemann mix was much thicker. Does this mean you were perceiving boosted bass on the in-5??
ahahaha listening to your test made me almost a metal guy when I'm not this means they sounded good in my go to headphones+soundcard pc setup i used for 20 years deejaying
I thought the Neumann mix was noticeably better and would be my pick.
But the Neumann's cost $4600 so they're supposed to be better. The question is, are they worth the extra $4200....or put another way, if you can only afford $400 are you still getting a great pair of monitors that will give you the honest truth about your mixes?
When you mixed on the kali monitors, did you use your Neumann sub?
I was gonna ask if it needed tuned or kali-brated to the different mains?
The IN-5's sound waaaaay thinner in comparison to the Neumanns, which really really bums me out -'cause Im getting mine in two days. BUT - Im thinking: Could this be due to the fact that Fluff turned them sideways with the bass ports closest to his ears? I heard some comparisons on youtube where some guy experienced more low end in that position. Maybe fluff is simply turning the kick and bass down because it is being jammed down his throat on the sides like that, as a compensation... Any thoughts?? @Kali Audio
I think it's more due to the fact that Fluff is more used to mix on his Neumans. Your ears needs time to adapt to new monitors/speakers, even if they are the greatest and best ones. And if it's the other way around it's even harder.
@@SixStringViolence No, I dont buy it.
The bottom end/low mids on kick, snare and bass guitar shouldn't virtually disappear on a professional (and pretty neutral) monitoring system unless there is something wrong. I WOULD expect the full frequency spectrum to differ slightly but NOT chunks of essential low end information gone missing - like mixing on a pair of logitech computer speakers from the 90's. (yes im trolling, lol, but you catch my drift?)
But since then I have gotten the Kali's with sonarworks in a VERY bad sounding but semi-acoustically treated small basement room - and I like them.
ooh the neumann mix sounded real good, way better tbh. The kali mix sounded a bit "dry"? i dont know if this a correct word to describe it.
flat
I felt the punch of the bass was missing. Wouldn’t miss it if I never heard the other, but in contrast, it’s definitely there.
I mean, for $4000+ for a pair, I would hope it's way better...
Naissss
awesome review! did you get a haircut?
I guess they didnt do that well if you are still on the neumann kh120
Is each of the 3 drivers amped individually ?
yes
1:45 LMAO!
I thought the mix on with the Neumann sounded better, personally. It had more bass and seems more glued together while the Kali mix was very mid-range heavy where it basically sounded like all guitar. I"m sure for the price you can't beat the Kalis but I guess the sound of the first mix is my personal preference.
more bass on Neumann means the Neumann needed more bass unlike Kali if I'm not wrong.
is there an 8k dip?
Very shy 8k yes
Where is the screen
I think the reason the Neumann cost more is the quality of materials used they will probably last 20 years without losing accuracy. Or they're just over priced.
Great are my lp-6's obsolete now?
Welcome to Capitalism
We’re your lp-6’s $700 a pair? Then no, they are not obsolete now.
Neumann has more low end, Kali have less low end and a bit more high mids.
The lp 6's can't be placed on their side, but these can?
These can!
@@kaliaudio but what happens if i lay down my lp 6s?
I'm curious about this too. Especially since my lp 6s are currently on their side 😅
@@perpetualgrimace have you tried them both ways to see if you hear a difference?
@@christopherheadcase6886 the imaging is not as good. Also the earth explodes. But importantly, the imaging isn't as good.
Anyone else distracted by the unstable left monitor wobble as he was giving this review?
So i noticed you use davinci resolve
Great monitors, I just can't get over thier size though. It reminds me of using a Fender Deluxe Reverb vs a THR10, the form factor. Will have to stick with iLouds
Studio monitors are all about looks...
Your link to the speakers not working
same here
Listening here on Kali IN-5, the Neumann mix sounds ok, IN-5 sounds far too thin. Since I hear the difference on IN-5, it's difficult to draw any conclusion from such comparison. I've only started working on the IN-5 yesterday, but they sound very promising. The soonest release I'll be mixing on them will come out some time next year, but for example I wouldn't mix this differently on IN-5: ua-cam.com/video/mqbq-jAMbDw/v-deo.html - that's one of my recent mixes which I made almost entirely on IK iLoud Micro Monitors :D
You’d have to spend thousand of dollars to match the specs of those speakers
Neumann has more low end, but hell that is fancy, Kali In-8 will be able to beat that low end i guess
On the contrary, Kali in-5 has more bass than Neumann, so there is less of it in the mix
a5x or in5?
eve sc 205
I got both monitors. kali is my new set. a5x i had with small sub. kali is a eye (ear) opener for me.
@@joeytrambel ok, nice to know
Getsome.
The KH mix sounds far superior. The Kali mix sounds extremely rolled off in the lower bass and sounds small, which is placing the driving drums further back into the mix, while the KH mix sounds fully balanced and full range. I would have thought that the Kali being smaller speakers you would have boosted the bass rather than cut it. Quite odd. (Listening on PSI A25M via Prism Callia)
I totally agree. The Kali mix is thin and has No "umph" whatsoever. And Fluff wont even adress it. I really Wonder what happened.
Yeah..... just to my ears. The mix with Neumann's sounded fatter. There was low end punch to the mix.
Bass is lost in Kalis mix.
So the conclusion is: Neumann overcharged you? Say it ain’t so. 😂
Arguable. There are massive differences in the construction of both monitors.
Unfortunately no one wants to hear the truth these days, LOL. Sounded good to me, I also like chocolate milk and peanut butter sandwiches, just sayin'. :)
Anyone else ever randomly drop the playback speed to 0.5x just for giggles?
Sorry Fluff, but this is not a very good sales pitch for these monitors. If you cant tell the mix on the Kalis is thin as paper comparing with the Neumanns, there is something wrong with you. What happened here?? @Kali Audio
ok
@@RiffsAndBeards Oh no, I just re-read my comment, I jotted it down a little too fast, so it sounds like Im being a troll here, hence your pretty obvious response, haha. Im really sorry about that. But Im honestly really baffled here, and I even bought the Kalis - getting them in two days. The comparison sounds really thin - something weird happened? Do you honestly not hear it? Kind regards.
@@catojrgensen8912 Its been a year, any update? does your mixes end up thin sounding. lol
@@3ATTR1X Not that I can hear, no. My current room is really small and wonky in the low end, but in headphones it sounds fine. Not as thin as in this comparison. But I don't know if its just because im adjusting during the process when cross-referencing on headphones.
@@catojrgensen8912 I have always had room issue, having a sub added to the problem. I use sonarworks which kind of fixed the problem. I also have 3 different headphones that have profiles within sonarworks (its not absolute) The profile freq adjustment for the ATH-M50x adds too much 1khz into the headphones, but in sonarworks there is a 0-100% adjustment available. Otherwise I spent a bit of coin on acoustic treatment that worked well. If there are wonky frequencies going on (stand waves and troughs) then some sort of freq adjustment correction will help. In the end you want to be hearing closer to the source with minimal mixing where all you are doing is mixing into the room, so that it sound great in your room only with a whole lot or room issues. Hearing my other headphones with the eq adjustment profiles, they sound totally different, the HD200 sound like a completely different headphones when flattened (eq corrected), in the end its all about the music translates better, phone speakers, car.
No monitor could sound good playing such god awful music!
