- Best budget vs mid range studio monitors comparison. What thing should you consider when choosing some studio monitors. Budget, Space, Functionality. Honestly unless you are in a huge room and dont love somewhere where room comes at a premium like i do, 5" Woofers like these Kali IN 5 that review in this video. are likely all you will need for your room. 3 inch speaker vs 5 inch why? Ive made the 8" mistake in the past an they just sit on a shelf and look pretty. So space is one thing to consider. Thats where the iLouds shone. Good enough in such. asmall profile. An I got great mixes out of them. That comes at the expense of volume and distortion however which we will see more about in the video.

Dude, glad you made this as I was just talking to my Sweetwater rep about upgrading my monitors and, after much discussion, have settled on these.
I feel is a good decision. Mixed my first track using them this week and it was a pleasure.
I appreciate this video and your other comparison for the IN-5. It helped make my decision my easier. Question, do you think that the 3-way split/ driver on the IN-5 takes away from the low end?
not so much a take away, But you are (or at least i find i am) more aware of tops, which results in that strange sensation of quieter bass.
I could tell the difference easily, maybe because I have the same iLouds and the same Kali's! Love the In-5's, clear, open and really well balanced. 😎
I personally feel they’re a good combo to be able to switch between an really understand what’s going on with the track.
These or iloud mtms for connecting to my digital piano to play vsts and pianoteq? I’ve owned the iloud mtms previously and was very satisfied with them, but the calibration was useless to me as it removed the bass from the sound and just increased treble, sounded better before calibration, so I don’t need the supplied mics they come with and I don’t mind how big the speakers are, don’t need small ones as such, just want that flat sound the mtms gave me, maybe the in5 are better as they’re actual monitor speakers so to speak and they maybe have more bass but not sure, I was happy with mtm bass, currently I’m leaning more towards the in5 just so I can try something different to compare to mtms.
If its bass you seek with loudness. Then id advise a larger diameter monitor. In the end there's only so much air these little guys can shift.
Interesting video. What do you think about the iLoud MTMs?
I was actually one of the first people to outside of IK to test them.

Definitely a great option for a small monitor. But a similar issue with loudness and the ports.
IMO, iLoud MTMs are good sounding for their size, but for the price, you can easily get larger and thus better sounding monitors for less. Same goes with the Genelec 8010s. You should only get them if you NEED them to be that small. I would only use MTMs/ 8010s if I need monitors to take with me on a trip etc.
Thanks for sharing. Looking at the Kali. What's the music track song played in this?
Glad it was helpful, looking at updating the Kali videos soon 🤞
I think I used this tune - distrokid.com/hyperfollow/unders/light-me-up
If my memory is correct
@@Unders Don't think thats the tune mate. The one I'm referring is a dance song in the video. Had a " Jedi mind tricks line."
@@jps.76 Ohhhh it must have been "Say my Name" sorry, maybe i used light me up in the other Kali monitor video.

@@jps.76 side note, one of my older tunes im still super happy with all these years later 😆
What would be your pick for 2-3x the budget of the in-5?
GENELEC “The Ones”
How do the IN-5s compare to the Kali LP-6 v2?
I want to say I covered them in this video - Kali IN 5 vs LP 6
ua-cam.com/video/x3nJrcV6uJU/v-deo.html
I don’t believe the LP6 had an update beyond there being a colour option now of white.
hey @unders where did you get that sick watery visualizer?
Which? 🤔
the one at like 1:55 the floating 3D waterdrop
@@katakozma11 oh I made it. There’s a 3d tool I use in apple motion. Also pretty simple blender project 👍
looks sick!!!! 😍😍🔥🔥🔥
Glad it added somthing to the video 🙂
Gotta warn Audiophiles. If you think this monitor will come anywhere close to an Elac Navis in performance, think again.....even though they share the same format.
Just sent my IN-5's back. They were veiled, bloated, smeared and just awful. Granted, less than a quarter the cost, but I have seen reviews where they compared favourably.
Live & learn....& dont believe the hype.
Do me a favour and clarify that I’ve made no such claim in your comment please.
I don’t think he was saying you did. But there are countless glowing reviews of these monitors that appear to be nothing more than payed endorsements.
Only one way to find out, does this UA-camr use them as a daily driver? If not then might unfortunately be paid endorsement which is sad hopefully he can clarify that these are the only man monitors he uses.
Why is this guy comparing a 3k pair bookshelf speakers to 600$ a pair audio monitor?
They are still on my stands today. I flip between them a set of iLoud and my Beyer DT700 Pro’s using an interface.
If I’m ever paid for a review (which I tend to avoid) it’s always declared.
My maschine plus review for example wasn’t paid. But my rep sent me it as a gift while I was in hospital. Declared in the video 👍
