@@urdetox7652 Seriously? It makes a huge difference. All of the bass is shot back into the wall and reflected, so you are hearing the cancelation of that wave. It's an awful sound. I was forced to use Genelec 8050b (a high-end monitor at 1900 each) in a situation where they were up against a highly reflective wall and they were unusable until I applied heavy treatment to keep the rear port from canceling out all the bass and low mids.
I got my Kali LP6's 3 weeks ago ..man ...i truly love them ! Highly recommend it to everyone looking for a new pair of studio monitors! Yamaha is good but ...Kali all day long ❤️ ! ( still it depends on the music genre your working on ) Great video ! +1

They are near field speakers , the proper distance for working with them is 2-2,5 meters from you.As soon as you follow this rule the hiss sound is unnoticeable and it’s not really a big deal and the sound that you get is just ...👌👌👌❤️! I was going to choose Yamaha but im glad i didn’t. I’ve worked in professional studios and i graduated as sound engineer...trust me this pair of speakers is special.Don’t hesitate and BUY them..you just can’t go wrong.../im not paid to say that, they just really are good ../ The hiss is not an issue! I think the HS5 has better frequency seperation especially on the vocals. The sounds came alive. The Kali sounded, how do I describe this, like compressed?
@@netuno_music the hiss is incredibly overstated. I have a desk setup with them about 2.5 feet away from me and I literally never notice hiss. Make sure you’re using a decent interface and balanced cables and you should be good
Great video. Very informative and well presented. I have owned the HS5 and HS7 and liked both but in the end, I switched to KRK. The Yamaha's do sound excellent but not enough options for placement, especially as they are rear ported. I think I will give these Kali LP6's a go and see how they work for me.

Excellent review. I have the LP-6s and never been disappointed. You can trust the LP-6s to get you room right. That was important to me since it is untreated.
When I demoed them in person, the HS-5 seemed to be too bright for my taste, almost shrill with some content. I understand some engineers even put tissue paper over the HS-5's Tweeters to cut down on this. To me the LP-6's just sounded truer . I went with the Kali Audio with zero regrets.
You're confusing the HS5s with NS-10s. You can cut the highs on the HS with a dip switch. That's not my problem with them. They are rear ported and they just don't sound that nice. They are hyped in all the wrong ways. The fact that Yamaha purposely used a white cone, even though its made nothing like the original NS-10, made people think that they were the "new NS-10" and they would get great mixes out of them.
If you still have the Presonus Eris E5 XT's PLEASE make a comparison video for those and the Kali LP6's! For some reason no one will compare these speakers even though they're direct competitors due to their price and size (5-6 inch speaker monitor size) and it's totally frustrating! I picked the Eris E5 XTs because they have better fine tuning control options and better build quality but, i've always wondered which speakers sound better lol
i just had both of them and tested them out , yes I agree for the price you cant beat kali , but at the same time the overall build quality for hs5 and on higher levels it does not bust like kali, I choose HS5 hands down
This Kali crap is awful… Yamaha smokes them out, there’s always a “new hot brand” or the “new best monitors” out, they come, make some “noise” with aggressive marketing and then they faded away right after, and nobody remember of them anymore… like we’ve seen many brands, many times for many years. And the Yams still there stronger than ever for decades. No speakers are perfect that’s why you need at least a couple sets for some serious studio work. If you pay attention, you can hear all the elements and the details of the song even tho the HS5 being the smaller monitors, while the KaliCrap sound like it s something. That being said, the HS series are untouchable, most accurate, better translation, best bang for the buck. They’re number one for a reason.

@@alfonsbarcelon no prob! Because I have both sr850 and m40x. Their sound quality aren’t that different. Both have almost the same sound quality tho it’s a closed back and a semi open. It’s important to have studio monitors because that’s where you’ll be able to correct and smoothen things up. The headphones are just for finishing touches

But hey, whatever works for you. If you ever want to hear something that's really warm, check out a pair of Kalis.

I wouldn't recommend them (Kali LP6), they have great low's and mind's, but they have problem with higher frequencies and almost no control over it and I have to turn volume knob to max and give more volume on the interface, they are very quite :/ I compared them side by side with PreSonus E5XT and E7XT and both of them sounds better overall. I think JBL 306 could be better either or buy some used HS8.
@Fast Lane - I havent used them enough to have a great sense of all their sonic characteristics---and honestly I'm not nearly expert enough in audio tech to know if the neutrality is affected by those settings. I think I paid about $200 per speaker, plus taxes. And I haven't noticed any hissing---I got the V2s, which are said to have taken care of the hissing problem in the first ones (V1).
sounding better is not what you want when doing critical mixing. You want the mids to be perfect. The rest (like Bass) you adjust checking on different sources

Why would you compare a 5 inch monitor to a 6.5 inch monitor ? Duh the sounds are vastly different😂why not use the Yamaha HS7i which has a 6.5 inch woofer, and then compare them ? Makes no sense to compare a smaller speaker to a bigger one.

Why would you compare a 5 inch monitor to a 6.5 inch monitor ? Duh the sounds are vastly different😂why not use the Yamaha HS7i which has a 6.5 inch woofer, and then compare them ? Makes no sense to compare a smaller speaker to a bigger one.
