"It makes me not want to be a human." Is one of the funniest things you've said. I almost spit out my coffee.
Hey, Brian!
Not related to this video, but thanks for helping my upper back explode. I have a hard time tying my shoes when I wear some of my shirts, because bending forward will tear them apart at my shoulder blades. And I have actually lost weight during this transformation.
I'll send you a bill to replace my wardrobe. Cheers!
I want to see Brian Shaw overhead press either you or Nic (or both haha).
this video is exactly what i needed! thank for the content Brian, always solid advice
Happy to hear your hamstring is healing so well. Looking forward to seeing what you guys get up to in Colorado!
nice to hear your hamstring is getting better! have a nice trip! and goofing up ideas for a video, you squatting brian shaw and him over head pressing you :D
1. Focusing on breathing/bracing or core STRENGTH (not just crunches) has made my lifts go up by massive numbers.
2. Love the blue line/red line shirt. From a LEO we really appreciate it.
Will keep buying your shirts and hopefully a program soon to help.
My wife and I were talking about if we could ever make it to Maryland. A trip to Neversate is on my bucket list.
Ordered one of each!! Keep doing your thing brother!!!
Great vid as always. Cheers big fella.
Brian...that's like one of my favorite lines from Rage against the machine! Keep healing and keep kicking ass man!
Hey Brian. Thanks for the awesome content, I hope you recover from your stomach problem soon and hit some PR`s!!
Brian is goals, strong as fuck, aesthetic, and can do a human flag... just a beast!
Glad to hear that you hamstring is feeling better Brian!!. Can't wait to buy the shirts as well :)
Brian giving great advice again!
Wow inspiring to hear how you go hard on the active recovery! :)
just ordered that shirt! its so sick! Great video man!
Yes shirts!!!! Thanks Brian!!
I messed up a hamstring 2 years ago; and now I truly believe I was entirely too ginger with it in my recovery!!! Well done, sir. Keep up the good work with your recovery!
You're a star, thanks for the free shipping window- I've wanted to purchase your "suffer beautifully" shirt for a while now but couldn't justify the shipping costs being almost as much as the shirt. Many thanks
This man is handsome
He sure is 😆
That is so damn cool! Do not stop
Exactly what I need!
Great to watch you squat again.. 👏😁
Good job brother that takes alot of courage to do what your doing with a torn Hamstring!
Great video
Front rack holds will get your abs insanely strong for movements such as squat and ohp.
THIS! also zercher holds are great
Weight vest and an ab wheel best thing I’ve found for the core
Excellent Rage reference at 1.04.
ALL. HELL. CAN'T STOP US NOW.
Had a guy at gym speaking to me about a competition I’m running and offered him programming
He said he got some of “some American guy” - I saw his training was Axle Press, Chins and Barbell Rollouts with 90sec rest.
Walked over and said “that American guy - his name Brian Alsruhe?” and it was hahaha
No point to that story other than I thought it was funny
@@automaticninjaassaultcat3703 shit the fuck up.
You get me every time with that slap at the start of your videos lmao!
That whole segment of glamour shot shit talk was golden.
never thought about it but that really makes sense🤔
Colorado trip sounds like a great opportunity for the Strongman/SmartCar Mario Kart races with water balloons I was talking about in another video.
man I really hope your hammy heals up, it'd suck so bad to be with Brian Shaw and not got for a deadlift PR. I would really love to see a big deadlift party.
While you are in Colorado you should take a trip to Colorado Springs and climb the Manatou Incline.
Fk YEAH Free International Shipping! Finally i can get some Merch.
CarlosBrutalos Same here man !
Could you make a video on how to train your squat at depth for performance (not powerlifting)?
I like to use Vacuums. Aesthetics and Functionality? I'll take it.
How is it funtional? Not saying its not i just have no clue.
@@missandeisass4671 it strengthens the trans abdominis and helps prevent hernias
@@ixLeGeNDaRyz "helps prevent hernias" oh really how come? Im prone to hernias myself.
@@missandeisass4671 hernias occur usually due to weakness in the trans abdominis, so vacuums and planks tend to help
@@ixLeGeNDaRyz oh good to know. Any other exercises?
“An hour glass does not support weight. These are facts.”
Do you do any hip flexor work Brian? I pulled mine real hard when I was squatting and it has been a constant annoyance ever since and I can't seem to find an appropriate movement for active rehab. Any advice? Thanks!
Walking is the best medicine, it truly is. I've ordered a 50lbs weight vest, I'm rather excited to get walking every morning... get those benefits
Consider continuing the workouts that almost killed you series - that was cool
Alright you’ve convinced me...I’ll stop skipping my preprogrammed core training, damnit
damn ive found a gem youtuber.
Hey Brian, what is your opinion on overhead squats for general strength training? Are they worth doing or are waiters walks better?
First thing I did to get better was change how I move sit stand walk bend over and breathe throughout the day
This right here. Lotta people don't realize that the first step to improving yourself is to improve your daily habits
Get some footage with KC if it’s doable that would be great
U got a phenom body man
hey Brian this is off topic but still a question im looking to be answered, what would you say has a better 1 rep max carry over for dead lift, stop and go or tap and go? with stop and go the initial pull is harder so that means less reps but with tap and go everything stays tight which means more reps, what would you consider to be the superior strength?
this whole time i was told I have to exhale in the contraction ... position in order to not have such a belly
I want to know how or would you even incorporate a sling shot in your giant sets or training in general
Hey Brian, have you considered participating in the Strength Wars after you have recovered completely? I for one think you could really put up a great show and be a tough challenger
he said he didnt have money and time to go to germany...but that was earlier, so idk if he would be down for it now
I’m jumping into my first Strongman competition in a week but I’ve only trained powerlifting what are some tips you can give me? The main concern I have is my grip strength on the farmers carry I don’t know what to expect. Also why doesn’t anyone watch my videos lol
I’m 15 years old and essentially just started strongman about a month ago and am currently doing farmers carry’s with 275 pounds (total) for about 15/20 meters. Not sure if these are good beginner values but I was wondering how I should program it to increase my strength. Should I do a mix of shorter higher weight runs and longer lighter ones?
That's great weight brother! I have an entire farmer's video that explains a lot of that. Should answer most of your questions brother.
Brian Alsruhe thanks a lot man I’ll take a look! Great video btw and I’m glad that your hamstring has improved. Stay strong 👊
Great way to start man, picking up and carrying heavy things will always get you stronger!
lots to think about hmmm
What's your opinion on L-sit chin-ups for ab training?
2 mins after uploading a 10min video already 30 likes nice
455 for 10 is awesome bro!
Hey, maybe you'll convert some 18-year-old bodybuilders to strongman, 1.5 years ago I never would've thought that you can grow biceps without doing curls...
Any idea on t Shirt sizes dude? 5ft 11 180lbs chest around 41" Large is normally a good fit but given your size....
You did the human flag!!! Nice!
What is the name of the post that has Mona and the battle ropes?
I may go for a one arm chin up in your shirt.
So THAT'S why youve been doing the weight vest.
Whelp, for the first time ever, I got bad news. Finished dark horse. Tested strict ohp a couple days ago, couldn't press my old 1rm. Missed it by five pounds. Just got back from testing squat. Missed my old 1rm by ten pounds. This could be because my variation selection for those two were poor choices. I've used z press as my alternate the last two program runs and my ohp never went up. This time (3rd program using it) it went down. I suspect z press is a poor choice for me, as I struggle to maintain posture long before the weight gets anywhere near my ohp. Front squat (because it sucks so bad) is my variation choice for squat. It's equal to my bench. Consequently, I haven't squatted anything near "heavy" the whole program. Bench and dead might be up a little, since I beat my conventional 1rms with variations during the program. (Tempo, 3 sec pause bench and deficit dead lift). Dunno. Haven't tested them yet.
I don't have bands so I just did the DE vanilla. It was an exercise in holding onto the bar while it tried to fly away. Probably need bands for it. I dunno... I think I'm just not "stuck" at a high enough level of strength to benefit from all the variation and dynamic technique stuff. I was stoked to finally squat over 225 eleven weeks ago or whatever it was. Today, I can't squat 225. Considering I set all my last PRs within weeks of almost dying of sepsis, this feels pretty bad.
Are you doing the same variations every week? I change them from week to week. Make sure to include some sort of standing OHP variations. Use a squat variation that you can handle more weight too SSB, high bar, box, pins, paused.
After watching your bracing breath vid, I been really trying it. Last two times I got to my heaviest deadlift of the workouts, which was difficult for me, my breath blew out my nose on the way up, inadvertently. Did not feel good in nose or trunk. What am I doing wrong?
You are not taking the air in your stomach. That would never happen if you had it in the right area brother. Keep practicing.
Im so Sad... i finally wanted to Order right now but its only possible with Creditcard and not Paypal. oh man.... :(
size&strength>abs
Loving the content man. Keep up the great work!
What’s your opinion on training every day?
I believe in sweating every day. but the way I PERSONALLY train...I can only TRAIN 4x a week.
I believe in taking care of myself and a balanced diet and rigorous exercise routine. In the morning if my face is a little puffy I'll put on an ice pack while doing stomach crunches. I can do 1000 now. After I remove the ice pack I use a deep pore cleanser lotion. In the shower I use a water activated gel cleanser, then a honey almond body scrub, and on the face an exfoliating gel scrub. Then I apply an herb-mint facial mask which I leave on for 10 minutes while I prepare the rest of my routine. I always use an after shave lotion with little or no alcohol, because alcohol dries your face out and makes you look older. Then moisturizer, then an anti-aging eye balm followed by a final moisturizing protective lotion.
tr3quart1sta Obvious troll is obvious.
@@diesertyp7822 its an american psycho quote.
ESSENTIALLY JUST DO GYMNASTICS.
Whoops all caps, sorry.
Hey Brian, I live in Brazil, and am really curious about the story behind that Brazilian flag on your wall.
Yo Brian, what am I supposed to do on your free linear periodization program if I can't deadlift? (I can squat just fine)
Why can't you deadlift?
I get (and have for about a year) gotten pain in my lower back/tailbone when I deadlift. I took 6 months off deadlifting completely, and when I came back it still hurt the same. I was put out of lifting completely for 2 months due to broken clavicle, and when I came back it still hurt..
I would fix your deadlift technique rather than abandon it man. That would be the biggest strength mistake you could make.
That's the annoying part though, I have form checks of my deadlifts on my phone, and my back is completely flat, and strong lockout. I'll look into it, but I dont know what changes I could make to my form...
Are you bracing?
Damn you're so hyper when you talk! lol
Athleanx says that when doing ab workouts, you need to not be pushing your abs out. Im confused!
I really don't have a gym nor do I have a lot of money but I got ingenuity for example 5 gallon buckets full of wet sand = farms carry. If you don't have much do with what you got I can barely do the 70 something pounds of those buckets anyway.
Abs are a pain when wanting to be strong being strong is more important to me.
Where’s your gym located?
You ever think about going to some NFL tryouts, you’d be a killer DE even without the experience lol
RATM quote noted. We are old Brian. 😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱
I wish there was a suffer thank in medium:(
I always squatted barefoot in my homegym. 1rm 165kg.
Now i bought some squatshoes becausemaybe i would like to do a powerlifting meet in the future.
Barefoot= 165kg
Squatshoes = 140kg grinder
Why do i losse 25kg on the squat with squat shoes?
...because you are not used to a heeled shoe. not complicated. keep training and you will get used to it
dude if that's the case why not just buy a really flat shoe like a wrester's shoe or even converse (or the cheap knockoffs at walmart lol). You dont need to compete in squat shoes as far as i am aware
Amardeep SN thanks. It was the first time in squatshoes so we will see what my squat will look like in 6 weeks
Mike Lion thanks Mike. I will try my squat shoes for a few months and will see what happens. If it still sucks after a few months i will probably switch to a flat shoe.
if i was you, i would do a lower weight and focus on form. film it and review it to make sure everythings all good. and just let the progression continue
He Brian!
How did you get back from your back injury? (😏)
How do you build the gnarliest, strongest, apex-predator-like back?
Cylinders are stronger than hour glasses :)
I like the dragon flags... i feel like a baddas Bruce Lee
What you think about squating every day?
he did video with allan thrall in this topic
LiL Hazestings thank you
"getting fat has never made anyone more dangerous ever" tell that to andy ruiz jr
I feel like Zydrunas became more dangerous when he put on fat when he was in his prime. But pretty sure he may be an alien haha!
What's wrong with a Power Belly
Nothing man, just saying you would be more dangerous and athletic without it.
😀💪🏼👍
For the q&a: I am 70 kg dude, train for one year and 2 months , how can I go up to 80 kg and some advice! Thanks!
Eat more. Lol
If you eat and train enough and correctly it'll take you 1-2 years to gain that amount of muscle if you are a man, and 1,5-2 times longer if you are a woman.
Do lots of compound movement, and eat lots of regular, healthy food. If you are naturally skinny and have a hard time to add weight, include more nuts, almonds and seeds. If you are scared of getting fat, add beans and lentils instead. (or, if you are like most people, add some of each.)
Those are some of the healthiest way to add more protein, because of how rich they are in micro nutrients.
s57iotuk t it’s takes a lot of time but yea train and eat correctly and maybe you’ll gains some weights
dont just eat more dude eat proper.
i was 54 kg in march and really skinny now im 66kg and dont look that different.
+unded emperor still small.
Eating whatever is the short term solution.
I went from 180 to 220 in about 8 months with a dirty bulk.
Then from 220 to a pretty lean, not too far from abs showing 194 currently in about 6 months.
Wasn't that hard tbh. I'm currently stronger than I was through the bulk.
You'll be bigger in no time. I found doing less rest in between workouts and eating less was the solution.
If you're playing the long term game, gain about a kilo a month than maybe a mini cut during the summer where you lose maybe 5 kilos.
You probably aren't gonna gain 22 lbs of muscle after your first year without acquire a good amount of fat to go with it.
Brian, you have put some letters in wrong order, performance :)
Thank you! I have a lot of trouble spelling
Brian Alsruhe ah it happens, I just wanted to let you know as I know you read your comments ^^
Super heroes don't really train though do they?
why u keep turning to face the camera real fast with each take, im dizzy :')
I enjoy my big ass waistline. I would say strength over abs, but I am not strong and I dont have a sixpack. So... I have to become stronger, I guess.
Just remember to stretch your hammies when visiting brian shaw
What about ab work for firefighters? It's great to have a strong core, but the heavier you are; the more you become a liability.
Where is this gym “ Virginia ‘ ?
Bryce Eisner it’s in Maryland
Westminster
Will Chuck Norris' Total Gym give me abs that make me Dangerous with a capital D?
man why you said 'dot com' and not 'dot coooom'?????
