@@SensusFidelium thanks for answering. We got lot of pretending catholics nowadays. But one thing they cannot admit, to say they are in communion with the Pope.
That St Alphonsus quote is gold, I will have to remember that next time I have scruples. The advice about thinking of our Lady during temptations to sins of the flesh is also great. Been practicing that for a while. Thanks Steve.
I’m in constant harassment of temptation against Holy Purity for several years . My lamentation to 2 Holy Priests who gave me the very same answer : Pray this little prayer immediately, “ Jesus , Mary and St. Joseph , I Love You , Save Souls . Jesus , Mary and St. Joseph , I Love You and Trust You . “ I repeat that prayer over and over until I am left in Holy Peace . The devil cannot stay when The Holy Family is called on for help . But sometimes that miserable devil is very hard determined to tear down my resistance, and at the suggestion of a holy soul I also use Holy Water, with the Sign of the Cross ,and then the devil leaves .
I say "VADE RETRO SATANA" with force, as he really hates this! As stated by Holy Mother Church to speak it! A Hail Mary or In Latin sung after to clear the air! In your own composition of notes, much like a Gregorian chant! Beautiful bliss!
@@Intrepid_Insomniacwhen a sin is done, it may not be in our thoughts, but the enemy knows we had done it. But anyway, when we go to confession, that sin is no longer, and cannot be used against us.
@@ysi4607Respectfully, I'm not sure the sin is gone as for usage of temptation by the demon. After confession, the sin is forgiven by God, so that won't be a stain on your soul any longer, but I think the demon may still be able to tempt you there. For instance, if a man commits a sin against purity and confesses it, the sin is forgiven by God, but one may be hit by temptations of further impurity or relapse into it afterwards. I think that the demons still know of that sin and can try and tempt you afterwards, but it doesn't have as great of an effect towards temptation afterwards. Hopefully I'm making sense. God bless!
@@Intrepid_Insomniac Demons are assigned to us from the moment we're born, and they don't forget. It's not necessarily that they "have access to our memories"; it's that they remember the past events of our lives better than we do.
2 Corinthians 10:3-6 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.
Good advice, but it bears remembering the difference between repression and sublimation. If we only repress these attachments oftentimes the result is even more destructive
I’m sorry but I clicked on this video to give benefit of the doubt, but “ignore them” and “think about something else” is exactly what I expected to hear from this priest. Any time I see Marian Friars Minor in the title I know that the answer will be a variation of “just stop”
@@marianfriarsminor2276 Thank you Father but do you not think that one who is struggling particularly with a specific thing will be especially unreceptive to such advice? Whether or not it’s true and obvious one who is advanced, it seems to me insensitive to one who has not already learned it in their heart through Grace and could lead to despair
In a way, he’s saying don’t stop-that is, don’t stop where the devil wants you to stop (at the bait); rather, keep going past it. Don’t waste your energy wrestling with the bad. Keep moving towards the good.
As I have re-Catechized myself, that is the answer for everything. “Don’t do it, you will go to hell.” Easy peasy. Another question to ask yourself….”Do I really want to confess that again?” It was very difficult the first time to confess it. Maintaining your state of grace, takes precedence.

I like that thanks. Maybe even 'vade retro satana in nomine Patris et Filii et Spiritus Sancti' to invoke the name of God.
@@borballs Yes, very good. I will pronounce that!
The devil, having access to your memory means that a history of sins against purity are his choice ammunition.
Fr Ripperger says that the devil and demons cannot see our thoughts. I wonder if this applies to our memory, or if that is different?

Very helpful. If only we heard this neon more pulpits around the world.
The Jesus prayer and invocation of The Precious Blood always destroy impure thoughts for me.
This is great, Thank you
I suffer so much with scruples. I can never be sure if I allowed myself to fall into sin or not. So draining.

temptation’s are physical internal, not external. The fight is within, not visual.
