SHAKESPEARE MICRO SERIES Ultralight Rod [First Impressions]

- Is this the best overall budget ultralight fishing rod? Perhaps! This thing is literally less than $20 and offers anglers a very affordable start to ultralight fishing. In today's video, I test it out and talk about some of my first impressions on this particular rod.
View This Rod Here: amzn.to/2TWy5Hq
On this outing, I used this 4'6 ultralight rod for exactly what I feel it is best for... Creek fishing! I chased down small green sunfish in tight quarters so this little rod was perfect for portability on the water. Additionally, I about ate it a few times so I would have been anxious carrying an expensive rod with me. If I would have fallen over and broken this rod, I would have only been out $20!
Overall, I feel this is a great rod for the type of trip I took. I think it is a good option for people who don't want to spend a lot of money but want an opportunity to ultralight fish. THAT SAID, this is obviously a cheap piece of equipment and it is very easy to feel that in the craftsmanship. I don't expect this rod to last a lifetime but I think it will do the job for the time being.

The world needs a collab between you and CFA. I love both channels.
Haha I’m glad this comment has so many likes. We’ve talked before; we’ll make it happen! Feel free to remind him in the comments of his videos 🤪🤪🤪
@@FishAnything get out of here! That would be pretty cool.
They're both into basketball too!
I’ve had the 4’6” rod for years. I actually bought it as a combo and loved it for years. The original reel died only a few weeks ago. I just paired it with a Sienna 500, also budget priced but AWESOME, and love it. I’m not a pro but I recommend pairing these up for an affordable entry into light fishing. My son got a nice 2lb Smallie this season with my setup. Dude, love your channel.
Love it! Definitely a fun little stick for a friendly price. Thanks for the support - tight lines!
Now you're getting down to my price range of gear LOL . I've been using that same rod, with a different reel for years. Year before last I accidently caught a 4lb catfish with it. It held up just fine. 👍
That’s epic! Yeah I like to experiment with gear of all price ranges 🤠 this rod outperforms it’s price tag for sure
I just caught a 10lb 25 inch largemouth bass on it while i was fishing for trout. I upgraded the line to 10lbs
@@yayaa8721 just put 10 lb on mines too....caught some nice cats yesterday
Had mine for about 8 months now. It is still holing up just fine. Perfect for creeks and places you don't need to cast very far. It makes catching even the smallest fish feel like a good fight.
Exactly why I got it! Glad to hear yours is holding up to the rest of time 🤠
One of the greatest feelings in the world..........peeling the plastic off a new rod handle and being the first one to use it
Lol heck yeah man! Gotta love new toys 🤪
The first thing I do with a cork rod handle, when I peel the plastic off, is to give it a coat of U-40 Cork Seal.
It makes the cork more durable and easier to keep clean.
I only recently came across your channel and was pumped to see you use the micro. I was given mine a little over 2 years ago for a white elephant and in spite of having higher quality rods, the micro was my first introduction to UL fishing has given me some of the most fun I've ever had in my years of fishing. Glad to see you toting this little guy. Tight lines, friend.
They are super fun rods for a very fair price! Tight lines :)
I've had the 7' version for about 6 months and it's working out great for me. Biggest fish i caught on it was a 1.75lb largemouth. Caught it on this thing called a mule jig and this weird plastic called a donkeytail
Lol glad to hear it Mike! I’ll have to check those weird plastics out 🤪🤪🤪
I had the 4'6 for close to 10 years. It was great for exactly this scenario. It finally broke when I closed the tip in my door. Paired up with a Shimano Sienna 500 and it was great!
I just picked up a new Shimano Sienna 500 today to pair up with the micro series. solid creek combo for 50$ or less.
I am glad to hear these last a long time! Definitely a fun little rod :)
I've got three of those in different length, all ultra-light. Great panfish rods, not terrible for small bass and catfish. Feel and work great even if not terribly rugged. Very sensitive.
I caught a 2 lb + bluegill on the 7' rod last summer. 11-1/4" !
Wow a 2+ pounder is insane! Nice work!!
@@FishAnything a real highlight! Makes me not want to fish anywhere else for a while.
Just bought this same rod 2 days ago for less than $17 and paired with Shimano Sienna 1000 spinning reel for less than $30- had gotten ugly stick 4’6” combo few years ago on clearance for less than $20- also picked up 10ft black widow cane pole for less than $8. All set for ultralight fishing at local ponds- thanks for your videos showing having fun fishing without spending big $.
Sounds like you’ve got some awesome setups for a steal of a price! I might scoop up an ugly stik next. Love those rods 🤠
I’ve had the 5’6” with a sienna 500 for years with no issue. Great >Actually< budget combo to get started. It even landed an 8lb catfish with some care and loose drag.
Love to hear it!!
I have the 5ft.6in. casting model from the Shakespeare Micro Series.
I find it excellent for fishing small streams, here in England.
I recently paired it with a Runcl SC180 spincast reel, loaded with Gamma 4lb mono, and it's proved a perfection combination.
This video is a microcosm to me of what fishing is all about. I used to fish the mountains of NC for trout when I was in college at Western Carolina and got hooked (ahem) after being introduced to Ultralite tackle. I'm obsessed with catching small fish now on Roosters, Panther Martins, Beetle spins, etc. where I live now more towards the RDU area where there's more crappie, panfish, bass, etc. It's just so fun! I'm going to try the setup you have as well with the micro jig. Of course, catching big bass and Catfish are fun, especially when it means you have enough food to feed yourself or some family, but there's just something so primal about walking a creek or lake trail and doing what you're doing. Nothing like it.
Love to hear it! Ultralight fishing is the best!!
@@FishAnything It really is! I'm addicted again now!!! F a medium action!! LOL.
It is geared for kids, but the materials and craftsmanship is over the top. It outshines anything I've used in the 1970's. To be sure, these rods and reels by Shakespeare are for very exacting fishermen who approach it like an art.
What a combo! A simple and inexpensive rod paired with a PFlueger! Dadgummit! Got the fingers muddy! HOLY SH__…🤣😂🤣this was another fun video friend! Creek fishing in Michigan is fun in the heat of the summer! Awesome “1ST impression” video! Appreciate ya! BABAAM!!
BABAAAAM! Thanks bud :D
Found this video and yes it's a budget steal for ultralight fishing. I've had a couple and use them for a year or so and find someone getting into fishing that has a tighter budget and give it to them. I usually pair it with the Shakespeare micro series reel and it's perfect for throwing small lures and float fishing. I had no complaints and if I lost all of my gear tomorrow I might start off again with one of these. Thanks for this video Ethan
Heck yeah, Brian! Nice rod for $20!
I just caught a 3lb largemouth on my 5'6" micro series. Been a workhorse for me the last 2 years, and still going strong as new.
Im exited about the 7' version I just purchased.
I have this rod in 7ft and I love it. I was crappie fishing last weekend and hooked a 4.5lb bass with it and a pscifun 500 real 4lb test and it handled it perfectly.
I bet that was a riot!
this channel is awesome. You inspired me so much i bought a shakespeare ultralight and some mule jigs + baits from your site. keep it up man, youre really doing some unique stuff and helping me enjoy this hobby even more
Thank you so much Bobby I’m happy that you’re enjoying everything. Tight lines my friend 🤠👊🏽
Thank you! I just bought one, small rivers, and pond fishing for trout. It arrives tomorrow.
Hope you catch lots of fish on it!
I have 2 of the 7' light Micro rods I use for panfish and love them. Caught a bunch of 2-ish lb. Spotted bass with them too. The 7' fly rods are great little small stream rods and are also around $20 if you can still find them. Great panfish and trout rods!
Interesting! Sounds like we may need a part 2 to this video 😮🤠
I got the casting one too with the Zephyr. I need to work on my technique because I keep flinging my lures to the side or straight down.
Haha dude, I luckily just found your channel. But I saw the title and had to pay your vid a visit. I’ve been fishing my whole life (bass angler) and as long as I can remember; like since buying my own rods as a kid, I’ve always carried this micro series rod with me, my fav is the 5’6 and I throw it with a 500 shimano spinning reel. I’ve broken every one I’ve owned and i literally start to miss em until I go and grab another. It just covers all of my light Arsenal in one little rig. Glad to others benefit and share the magic this rod has brought hundreds of anglers. I’ve got a 4lb largemouth bass using 2# test with a jr fluke as my PB on the micro
Heck yeah man! That’s awesome you always have one handy. Ultralight sticks are skunk-savers for sure 😂🤠
@@FishAnything absolutely!
I picked one up for myself this weekend, and here is a video about it, just an awesome little rod.
Heck yeah man! It’s a steal of a deal too 🤠👊🏽
Love my 4'6" micro and my newest addition the 7'light 4-10 lb line. Saturday the new rod caught 7 catfish from 1lb-7 lb. Setup was 500 size reel, 6 lb braid and 6 lb fluoro leader. No problem with any fish. Love those "micros".
That’s great to hear!! I bet those cats were a riot on that setup 🤠👏🏽
You know I’m a Shakespeare Micro fan!! Have had mine for over 2 years. I take that bad boy everywhere. Did mighty fine on the Manistee river float. Haha!
Dang right my brotha! Great little stick for
6-3-23 grandson and I caught 22 freshwater drum with Shakespeare ultralight rods Shakespeare reels 3/8 Kastmaster spoons 2lb test line . Fish went 1# to 4# had blast
Been using ultralight since 1980 ,salt and fresh
Absolutely love it! I bet that was a blast :)
Great rod. I was fishing bluegill from a dock and ended up landing an 8lb catfish. It was a fight, it was a blast and the rod handled it great!
Holy smokes that must have been insane 🤠👏🏽
Best rod I’ve used. I have five. I’ve caught 5lbs hybrids with them using 1/32oz bucktail.
Sounds like a blast!
Just caught a 3 pound bass wacky worming off a bridge with a 4 ' 6 ugly stick ultralight paired with a kastking zephyr. I had to lift it all the way up rod handled great . I've caught tons of bass on it and I love the casting accuracy you get and it's super fun. That's my budget bfs set up 😜 😅
I bet that was a dang blast!
Surprisingly the i have had Shakespeare micros for over ten years still in service. The blanks seem to be tough. I have yet to break one. Steer away from quantum ultralight rods. I have broken many. I really like the lews ls750 combo at WM. It is very durable and fun to fish for $30. I prefer making my own rods on phenix mirage and elixir blanks. Very pricey but so worth it with a minima guide set
That’s epic you’ve been fishing them so long. Very reassuring to hear. Awesome rod for the price 🤠👏🏽
Too funny. I bought one for my 8 year old daughter and she's caught 1-2 pound mountain kokanee and 16-19" cutthroat trout. I will steal it from time to time when I'm bushwacking. She's also caught 1 pound bass with it as well. It's been awesome!!
Sounds like she’s a dang good angler! That’s awesome to hear 🥰
I have the 7’ micro series rod and have it paired with a pflueger trion size 25 and I always find myself grabbing that set up more than my higher end set ups. I mostly fish for crappie and I find it suits my needs.
Sounds like a fun little rig! No need to get too fancy - just use what feels best :)
I love it! You hear fishermen talk about sensitivity in a rod and why it's worth it to pay more for that sensitivity, but that little darter puts the lie to that idea. The fact that you felt that little beastie and set the hook pretty much does it for me RE expensive rods.
I have no doubt that a finer made rod has lots of advantages and is very fun to fish with, but I'm not worried that my old Shakespeare Ranger poles , or the more current budget rods, lack enough sensitivity to cause me to miss anything that might be biting. If I miss it's because I'm not paying attention, not because the rod sucks.
Honestly for true ultralight fishing, the line makes a bigger difference than the rod for bite detection. I would rather buy top tier line and a mid range rod than a top tier rod and mid tier line
I have an older version of the Shakespeare Microspin Ultralight and have caught a lot of small mouth on it in larger creeks using Rapala's. It always feels like a bigger fish than what you get which amplifies the fun in it for me.
Heck yeah! The random pike, carp, catfish, etc. that bites always makes it a riot!
Hell yeah i got the 7ft rod and reel combo for 10 bucks and i use a shimano siena 1000 reel and i love it, recently found a 7 foot ultra light catch more trout shakespeare in my moms garage and i love that rod u can feel everything in the line and fish feel great to fight ima upgrade to a okuma or uglystick elite ultralight later on!
That’s epic! Can’t beat the price!
I wish there were areas like that I could fish near me 😔, you always have a blast in those small creeks
I wish I had more spots like this! Always love creekin’ it!
I've had 2 of these rods for a few years now. I use them for Smallmouth Bass and trout, they've held up just fine.
That is what I like to hear!!
got one of these after getting beginner skunked for 2 weeks on a medium 6'6 rod. the next day I caught my first fish, and today I caught 4 green sunfish on this 4'6 ultralight. the combo for 20 dollars is a steal for sure.
edit: it also straps perfectly on my outdoor pack where you would normally keep trekking poles so it's nice and lightweight for backpacking.
That’s awesome! Tight lines 👊🏽
I've got the 5'6" light and love it for small creeks (trout, bass, and bluegill)! Had one and couldn't find another I liked so went and got another.
They are honestly great little rods for the price!
I picked myself up one of these little Shakespeare combos from Walmart, and bought with it some jig heads, an in-line spinner, some small soft plastics from the clearance bin and a little crème crankbait and also got the insurance for the combo, and only spent $29, and I’ve caught fish using what I got so it was quite worth that little bit of money in my opinion 👀😅!!
Though I still prefer my regular ultralight, if I’m being perfectly honest🤔… though the Shakespeare is still quite a fun little combo 👀!
For $29, that is a heck of a steal. I am glad they make a really affordable option for anglers who don't want to spend big bucks but want to get into ultralight fishing.
Bought this rod after watching your videos and I have to say this is one of my favorites now. It's sensitive but it's really strong too. I've even caught a 7lb carp on this tiny rod while using 4lb test line to boot. Sure you can't cast as far as a 7ft rod but the fight using the micro is so much fun
A 7lb carp had to be insane! Nice work Jeffery :)
1 have 2 of the 4.6' and one 7'. I've had one for almost a decade. Caught a 5.6 lb. Channel cat in a creek couple years ago on the oldest 4.6 rod. Great rods for such a low price.
Holy smokes a 5.6lb catfish on that rod had to be pure insanity!
Great little rods for a great little price. Some sweet creek fishing Ethan and this 4.5' rod worked well. Looked like a goby that you caught. I caught a 3lb bass on the 4.5' casting version of this rod a few years ago and it got the job done pretty well
Hell yeah? I bet that 3lb bass was an absolute riot!!
Those are the ones we give new members of the local fish club. And yes they are good combos.
Right on! I’m sure I’ll give it to a new angler one of these days too! I don’t technically need this many ultralight rods lol
I loved my micro series. I snapped the tip off in a car door. But the time I had with it was awesome.
Hey if you're gonna snap a rod tip in a car door, it is recommended to do it on an affordable rod :)
I just bought one of these as a travel rod, because the 4'6" size will fit in the bed of a friend's truck. Paired it with an Abu MaxSTX in the absurdly small size 5. The combo looks like a toy, but I am digging the sensitivity of it.
Honestly this little 4'6 is a hilarious little rod but I really like it for the price. Definitely a great way to get started with ultralight fishing. Or to your point, a good rod to toss in the truck and have ready to rock at any time.
The 7 foot light action is what shines, I choose it over other rods I own. It great cause if it breaks I’m out 17 dollars. Glad to see you tried the micro light, even if it’s for the 4.6. The 7ft light is a game changer though.
Side note; a aquarium with those gobies would be insanely cool. 30 gallon long setup like a stream with looped water flow from side to side. I wish I had some in my area.
This is correct. I own all of them and the 7 light is the only one I would get. The 7'6" UL has gotten a lot of use this summer...but it is whippy...it will get a trout magnet way out there though.
Are gobi fish like Plecostomus?
Good recommendation thanks Jesse & Stephen! I’ll have to try the 7’ L eventually 🤠
I’ve had this exact 4’6 version for 3 or 4 years now. used it for trout, all types of bass, perch, and even channel cats and carp. It’s a really good rod for the money and has even outlasted a couple reels I’ve had on it.
Love to hear it! It’s funny… some folks tell me this story and others say it broke the first trip. I feel like there are “lemons” in the mix, but most of these rods are really awesome sticks. Glad you got a good one!
I bought one of these as a back up rod and my son ended up taking it for his... well there you go. it was meant to be. Now I have to wait for shipping of your lures :-) when they come in i will be taking the day/rest of the day off
Haha that is awesome. Hope the gear works well for you :)
Oh and that pflueger xt is one of my absolute favorite ultralight reels.
It’s a nice little reel for sure 🤠
4'6 is good for keeping in the trunk and its perfect for setting up a carolina rig with a poweregg while shooting lures with another, longer rod.
Definitely! Good callout. Thanks Jason!
Use these all the time and they are great for tossing in the back of a truck or fishing canals and muddy/sandy places you dont want to take your expensive gear! I have caught hige carp and gar on these as well as plenty of bass so you can finesse them in with time😅
Love to hear that! Tight lines, Austin.
I have 2 casting version of this rod. 4’6 1piece ultra light and it’s been amazing! Got the Zephyr and Curado BFS paired to the rods
Nice! I have definitely considered picking up the casting version as well :) Maybe I will!
I cant find it for casting?
Yea Nathan, get the 7’6 for your kayak fishing. That one is real fun! It’s a 2 piece unit, easy for travel.
I’ll definitely try one of the longer models at some point!! Thanks Rick
I’ll have to check these out. I bought a 5 ft jawbone (2 piece) and it was the worst.
I have another recommendation for budget friendly UL rods, the Berkley Lightning Rods. I have the UL trout version and the MH baitcasting rod. Both have treated me well.
Thanks Ramon I’ll have to check those out. I’ve heard a few others suggest them as well 🤠
It’s a good rod, I’ve caught steelhead, pike, and big bass on my 5’ 6” light
Those things are great. I have 6 and broke 3. Love em. I can take em in my car. Pre rig them and switch up fishing or move to the next rod if I get hung up. Without spending time retieing everything back. Me and my daughter use the fire out of them. The push button ones break easy but they are worth it. Just keep the pole and buy a new reel. My favorite rods.
Inexpensive yet effective!
Man this was a crazy video man. The fishing rod is pretty cool. It just goes to show any fishing rod can do a job. It may not be the best but it'll get you on the water. Man I was surprised how big some of those were. When they big like that they are scary. Man you went through some crazy stuff. The water was very muddy. I know your Tevas were very muddy & had to climb all over those tree branches ! Yeah you should be stinky , itchy , tired , & hungry. Good video man.
Lol love it Mack! Fun little trip to the creek 🤠
Very enjoyable! A great rod on a budget, you're very lucky to have such fantastic predatory fish over in the US. Keep up the good work 😃
Thank you! Will do 🕺🏼
Yep ive caught some big bass on that rod in brushed out creeks and culverts, 24" rainbow is the biggest fish on that rod, would be awesome to see them do a casting rod same action.
Great video thx
They have a casting rod! It comes pre-loaded with a push button reel if I am not mistaking.
Those little gobies are awesome, I'd be keeping those and put them in an aquarium.
I should probably get rid of them sadly because they are invasive and harmful to the fisheries. 😭🤷🏼♂️
Great Channel Bro!!.
Had one of these last year, pulled in a 3lb small off my dock took a few to get it in. Super great experience on such a micro setup. Sadly broke it on a snag that I thought was a fish
Thank you Fred! Yeah it is a solid little rod for the price :) sorry to hear you broke yours :(
Two days ago I caught a 2lb-ish large mouth on a 4’6 with the Kastking Zephyr BC. It was a good fight. These rods are a steal for the cost.
That sounds like a dang blast! Yeah honestly it’s wild these rods only cost what they do
I’ve been using the 4’ 6” model with 6 pound line for about a year and it has held up multiple 12” bass and a 18” northern pike
Nice work! Can't beat it :)
I caught a 31 lb. Flathead on ultralight. 10 lb . Fire line. Set drag correctly, no problem !👌
BOOM! That had to be insane!
Gotta 5lb channel cat on mine. Wrecked the 4lb line but rod handled it. I have 2 of them great for small creeks and inside covered fishing docks with low ceilings.
Love it! I bet that was a major blast :)
Subbed for putting the plastic in your pocket. Thank you!
Thank you James!
Fun video. I found your channel looking for a little micro setup to throw in my play kayak just in case. I have been watching CFA, I am not sure why I have not run across your channel before. Liked and subbed.
Thanks so much for the support! John is a good dude :)
Yes Thank you for doing this video man. I always wanted you to do one of these videos Thank you man you are the best ever keep being awesome and making awesome videos.
:) thanks dude!
the am a tall wierd lookin fella got me for real. Got a new subscriber
10:20
lol thanks man! Happy you enjoy my humor
I got this rod 3 or 4 weeks ago and already got my PB blue bill on it it is a fun little rod
I absolutely love to hear it!
First time fishing with this rod I caught 3 snook varying from 16 to 20 inches. This rod is excellent for the price
That is insane! I bet that was a total blast :)
Hi Tree, nice demo of the micro series. I have one and never used it. That ends today!
Haha hi there :) hope you have fun!
In Salt Creek I got into Orange spotted Sunfish. Near Chgo . Put 1 in my Aquarium, 😍
I would love to catch some of those!
I have that same reel.... mines the 20 .... love it
I've actually been using this one for awhile now and I've caught some pretty sizable fish in lakes with it. I originally bought it to be my, "I'm in the mood to fish. Rod and such are in the car. Let's go" sort of set up. But in time it has become my favorite to use, especially after I caught an 11 inch big mouth bass that was on the heavy side, and a 13 inch rainbow trout.
I've now been bit by that ultralight bug and I'm ok with this :P
Love to hear it!
Not a fan of Shakespeare…But the microlite 7’ Light was my first dedicated panfish rod. And it has performed superbly. I’ve had that rod for nearly 10years now, and it has brought in tons of Crappie, bluegill, and white bass. One of the best values in fishing products
Yeah, this little rod is a great option for budget-friendly fishermen. Can't go wrong!
Not a fan though ??????
I got this rod and just snapped the tip yesterday. I did buy the $2 warranty, so we will see how that goes. It may be my fault, I pack my rods by shove them in the trunk and letting the rear seat back rest fall forward. I need to see how is a good way to transport rods. It’s a good rod and reel combo I will say.
Hope you get it replaced ok! And yeah storing gear in cars can be tricky but I always just put the rod butt in the passengers leg room and point the rod tips over the center console toward the back window. It works for me!
@@FishAnything *Update on rod. Warranty covered by the Shakespeare, I had to send photos of receipt, and rod. A $9 process fee and a long wait for the replacement to be shipped. Did not fool with Walmart warranty yet.
**Another update. I was able to glue another guide tip on the broken one. I put a Piscifun Viper X size 500 reel. Reel is only 5.4oz, caught more fish on that set up than any other. Great set up to leave the in car to go fishing on a whim.
I have the 6' Micro Series. I love it
Nice! Definitely need to try more sizes
Bro I caught a 4 pound LG mouth on my local creek and that little rod handled it like nothing I like really nice for its price 💪
That had to be a freaking blast!
Round Goby. Forage of choice for smallies around Sturgeon Bay, WI
Yep! I later realized that. Weird little invasive fish!!
Glade to finally see you get out with it lol
Took me a while lol thanks again for scooping it up for me.
using one of these as a budget angler, and it is GREAT. i use it for micro fishing in the creeks and ponds around me... ive caught some pretty decent bass on it too! i think the biggest one was a 2lber, and man did it fight well on the rod. currently have mine paired up with a cheap spinning reel but im looking to upgrade to a shimano sienna or a pfluger in the near future. couldnt ask for more, since i got mine for ~11$ at walmart.
That’s what’s up! Lots of positive comments about this rod so I am happy I picked it up! 🤠 tight lines
I went to the local sporting good store, and for $50 I got a quantum combo. It’s been holding up nicely, even reeled in a 1.5 lb catfish with it.
Niiiiice! There are a lot of good ultralight rods out there 🤠 I’ll have to check out quantum one of these days
Apparently the 7 foot version of this rod is amazing and substantially better than the other models
I literally just fished mine for the 1st time and landed a 2lb smallie from a neighborhood pond on a 1/32 pink jig head with white grub tail. The rod was bent in half. I was in shock.
That had to be a good time!!
Good to know Shakespeare is worth it lol I have just didn't catch it was Featherlite an eagle claw 6' rod it's been great for light and decent sensitivity it was like 20 bucks as well I have a cheap lews lite series reel on it with 10 lb braid. Idk how well that's doing on a river or stream with length but it's been perfect for trout
I found this channl and i love it and bought a couple mule jigs 5 stars easy
THANK YOU TRAVIS!
rad, love this type of fishing
Thank you! Me too :)
hey brother can we get a a video explaining how to adjust the drag on the reel
This is a fantastic review, and you even through in a plug for the Creek Fishing Adventures channel (highly recommended).
Thanks Mac! Yeah John is a really nice guy and excellent content creator. Big fan 🤠
My favorite micro rod!!
Awesome little stick for a great price 🤠
I have a Shakespeare fishing rod.I caught my first big fish when I was 13 years old.I LOVE fishing!!!What is better fishing with real worms or with lures???
Neither is better - just whatever you prefer! I like artificials.
I prefer real worms.
I've never caught a fish with lures, but with real worms yes.
I have that exact rod in the same size and I caught a 6 pound 4 ounce 24 inch rainbow trout on it
Ok so it holds up to DONKEYS! Nice work Cole I’m definitely jealous 🤠👏🏽
Purchased one in the start of Spring. Put in my back seat and off I went. I went to cast and 2" of the tip broke. This was on a 1/32 jig. Not sure if somehow broke prior or during the cast. Lasted about 2 weeks.
Dang! I am sorry to hear that. Sometimes these budget rods can be a bit more fragile. From the sounds of it, that is probably a freak accident, but it is hard telling. Hope you get it replaced!
@@FishAnything Thanks...I did contact Shakespeare and they responded sent pics but they want pics of the whole blank i kind of just forget about it. I managed to just put a new tip on it. I actually think it might be better that way.
Awesome video I have the same rod I love it so much I catch so many fish on that rod bass and pan fish love it
Heck yes Sterling! Definitely a fun stick 🤠
I landed a 12 lb Rainbow trout on one of these. Canterbury CT, Quinnabog River April 2003. I was running 4lb test.

Great content!!!! thanks for posting!
Thank you Bill! Glad you liked it :)
My ultralight rod is a shimano Fx 5’ I only paid 13 bucks for it and I love it . Since getting my ultra light my other rods haven’t been as fun lol
That sounds awesome! And yea ultralight fishing is addicting lol
Most of my gear is Shakespeare (including a 20+ year old 4'8" Ugly Stik). So far I've only had 1 reel fail (bad bearing). Can't beat the price and availability for recreational fishing.
Darn right Brad! Glad to hear you’ve had historic success with their equipment. I have a ton of respect for brands like shakespeare.
